I have to agree with pico1790 that this is the best video explanation on how to change the belt on my Toro. I went to Home Depot and got the belt, came home, made myself a square point drive out of a six point and went to work & only took me about 15 minutes total to change the belt and started it up and off I went onto the lawn. I have hills and before I was trying to mow just pushing it because the belt was broken in half and was hanging out a slot. I had to rest three or four times while mowing until I fixed it, now it’s going to be so easy for my 78 yr old body to mow again, thank you so much for your video!
I'm at 2:59, and you already solved my problem. I just needed to remove the cover on my FWD Toro Model 20339 to replace the traction cable. Another video said there was only one bolt. I removed that one, and then this poor 70-year-old woman spent all day in the drive trying to pry the cover off and wondering why it would not budge! I almost cut it off! Tomorrow is another day... Thanks!!!!
A very simple easy to follow video and something I'll be able to do tomorrow on my self-propelled Toro. I've noticed it's been harder to push so this should help Thank you very much.
Thanks for the video. I found this mower on the curb this morning fixed the carb, but was un-sure how fix self-propel. Now I know how. Thank you!!! Gift on the way.....
Thanks much for this video. explained everything i needed up to and including socket size. went right out and fixed it and finished the yard. appreciate it :)
Just watched this, took mine apart in ten minutes and back together in ten minutes and it works better than it was. Thank you! Tools metric sockets 13 and 10, and the S2 square bit.
@@kbssmallenginerepair2615 fixed the lawnomower today , so easy after watching video a icatually looked like i knew what i was doing my boss said, ohh good i watcxhed a youtube video of oti over the weekend, he saw your video too lol.
I just bought this mower at a garage sale. Starts right up but won't move. Try adjusting the cable but no joy. This video was very helpful since the online owners manual does not provide this info. Thank you very much!!!
My daughter brought her mower over that same exact model so I told her to give me some time and I'll fix it but she wanted a new one so money for me !!! Nice work as always !
Great video. After replacing the belt I had too much slack so I tightened the cable and works great with the plastic belt guard OFF but when I put the guard on the pully lifts too high, comes in contact with the plastic belt guard and the belt won't engage. WHat now?
Thanks I need to fix mine. Might have run over as tick and the belt jumped the pulley. Not sure how now that I see how tight the belt guid is to the pully. Now thinking I need a new belt.
Thanks Brian. That is possible, but both guides are very close and don't allow much clearance. You could have the other model without the cover over the pulley in the front...
not sure it's a belt problem...have exact same model...I cannot move the belt or pully after removing all the covers to get access. should i be able to move the pully by hand ?
My belt keeps coming off on the drive cable end of my 20332 rear propelled. I’ve tried two new different belts. The last one I tried was toro original. Any tips on how to fix this?
Recently I have been having grass build up under that front cover more often than usual that it's effecting the self propelled. Any idea as to why when it didn't happen as often?
I do not. It will either be a plastic housing that the cables rest in that a bolt slides through, a plastic hook style that fits into the handle. I will work on making a video of this.
If you r tires are slipping because of wear you can put 1/4" hex head sheet metal screws through the tires staggered about an inch apart then it wont' slip in wet grass.
Nice job with the video. Question - where did you get your lift table? Are there any suggestions you might have in regards to how you installed it, how it could be better, things you did that you think were a great idea? Thanks again.
I bought mine through milexequipment.com as they had the best pricing at the time. I had no problems with them and they were great to work with. Setup was very straight forward and easy to do. If I had one complaint, it would be to have the deck hand and motorcycle vise be easier to switch out. They are both heavily bolted down, so when I need to switch them out depending on what I am working on, it takes a half hour or so to get them switch out. If you don't have both those additional options that won't be a problem for you. I love the piece of equipment and would absolutely recommend it.
I did. They were not ready to replace that yet. This was quite an expensive tune-up with all the work it needed. So where the wheel was still functional, they decided to hold off on that for the time being...
MY FRIEND I BELIEVE THAT I HAVE THE EXACT SAME MOWER I NOTICED THAT. UNDERNEATH YOUR MOWER YOUR COVER ISN'T ON THEIR IT ALSO HAS TWO REAR BOLTS TO ALSO TO BE ABLE TO REMOVE THE TOP COVER OTHER WORDS IT TAKES THE REMOVER OF 4 BOLTS TO REMOVE THE TOP COVER TWO IN THE FRONT AN TWO IN THE REAR ALL FOUR BOLTS ARE UNDERNEATH TWO ARE TO HOLD BELT ( COVER ) PROTECTOR THAT'S UNDERNEATH THE MOWER ALSO ( MY BELT HAD SLIPPED OFF THANKS FOR YOUR GUIDANCE 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸😇
You Failed to show that you took the cover off under the lawn mower before you removed the 2-bolts in the front to get the front wheel drive cover. So, there is 4-bolts holding the top cover.
I'm still not sure why you got rid other mower. It still worked good and had a lot of life in it still. You must have not liked it as much as your other option. Or u didn't want to put any work into it. Maybe you just felt bad that you were using both mowers instead of just one. I'm confused really. It was ok if u used it before it broke down. But if you used it after it broke down too than that is a problem, cause you didn't even try and fix it, you just went back to your other option. And honestly, you always talked like that was never an option anyways. So did you use the other option again after it broke down or not. Cause I'm thinking you used it back then b4 and after the breakdown. Anx the fact you work together is gonna be a huge issue too
Best how-to for this on UA-cam. Because you gave the socket and bit sizes the job only took me 15 minutes to complete. Thanks! 👍🏻
I looked at all the vids on this subject and this by far was the best one. I fixed my mower in 10 minutes.

I here you brother already up to 836. Good work
Thank you my friend, I appreciate your support!

Another good video. Thanks

Is there any torqe specs for the belt guide bolts or are they just hand tighten.
There may be, but I just hand tighten. Make sure it is snug to not come loose.
Nice job with the video.

My toro is not.moving fast as before is it because of the belt. I find myself pushing it quite a bite to move it along.
I have a couple good friends having trouble getting the wheels back on the lawnmower with the height adjusters. What’s the deal with them
Which mowers are you talking about? I haven't had any issues like that.
thanks
You should always disconnect your spark plug wire you never know but other than that good job
Great video. Got to go get some square bits. ☹️
Thank you! They aren't something you use everyday, but nice to have. Make sure you get the right size, they are very easy to strip out.
What causes the belts to break
Wear, rot, getting something caught in it....
I noticed the front wheel is worn. Did you ask the customer if they wanted a new wheel too?
I did. They were not ready to replace that yet. This was quite an expensive tune-up with all the work it needed. So where the wheel was still functional, they decided to hold off on that for the time being...

You Failed to show that you took the cover off under the lawn mower before you removed the 2-bolts in the front to get the front wheel drive cover. So, there is 4-bolts holding the top cover.
Well you are incorrect. This mower does not have a cover underneath, so no, there are 2 bolts holding the top cover just as I showed.
