- Battlefield 2042 Season 7 is just around the corner and DICE has caused some rumblings on social media by releasing a video showing how they'll be adding visual recoil to weapons to give them more character and personality. From what I understand from dev comments in the 2042 discord, it's more like custom firing animations for each weapon (which feel less robotic then the current one) than visual recoil. In classic Dice pr fashion, they seem to have failed to properly explain this. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it realy feels in game.

I was just coming in to say this. Whatever muscle memory you have for this game should be exactly the same. The animations will look differently but overall it should play the same. Between Dice communicating poorly and videos like this there is going to be a lot of misinformation regarding the recoil in game.
They are adding visual recoil only, not actual recoil. That is, your gun will now sway left and right along with up and down during ADS and firing weapon. They clarified that the bullets will go where your red dot is. There is no change with spread or actual recoil.
That sway will make you feel that your aiming at the wrong place though, and that you need to adjust which is wrong if your red dot is already at the enemy
I'm completely open to trying these changes first before making any rational decision based on ignorance. I personally feel that all of the weapons feel like toys currently, hopefully these changes will make them feel more grounded.

I have a home made crosshair on my screen with sharpie markers and i dont follow the reticle at all. just follow the middle of the screen haha

It does, i run all my hud at 75%, just feels right.
At this point, adding in the visual recoil isn’t going to make that much of a difference because of the dispersion bloom. Bullets are already not going where your reticle is the more you fire. Some did a break down on how much the reticle moves with the center of screen and it’s pretty much the same amount as before.
Yeah it’s a way cheaper version all around, procedural animation with recoil patterns never entered the scene and that’s what we should have had from the beginning but nope.
Ultimately, I think guns will feel better, but not function better. We left that train station at launch.
I think as always people talk without even trying the changes. We can definitely evaluate everything when we will have hands on Season 7. Complaining before that it's just without any solid base. It's basically because you want to go against BF2042

When they say visual recoil I think they are referring to os how the gun model shakes and moves on screen. I don’t think it is affecting the point of aim vs the point of impact.
It all depends if visual recoil means random bullet deviation which is what they had in BF4
One of the things I thought BF5 did really well was how the weapons felt. Everything was punchy, the recoil felt good there. I don't know why that didn't carry over to this game. This might be a weird analogy for an FPS channel, but honestly they are the Pokemon of FPS. Every good feature they add that people seem to like they get rid of it or replace it with something new for the next game rather than expanding on previous improvements.

Also honestly I just want a good battlefield almost just a big mix of games like features from BF1,BF3,BF4 in a modern setting it'd just be so cool haven't been able to play BF3 or BF4 hope to one day but I have been playing BF1 and while I kinda suck I've gotten a few kills and I'm loving it, it is a masterpiece probably the last great BF game.
If they could bring back the shooting methods from battlefield 4 would be good

The game has a lot less spread than BF4, it's closer to BF3 but without the suppression
I think we have to wait and see how the recoil is going to work, but as you said it is possible that DICE is testing some aspects of its next Battlefield to have feedback.
I am just going to start using a controller for FPS games now instead of MnK. Every developer seems committed to making the experience of shooting the gun as inconvenient as possible. The notion that there needs to be this intrinsic mechanic of some kind that makes it so that your bullets have a chance to miss is absurd and I wish they would stop it.
IDK, controller on PC sucks so bad for 2042. Other fps games it's great, but fur bf2042 it's the worst experience I've ever had with any fps. Even on bf1 controller on PC was fine.. it's just 2042 for some reason it's very very off.

I still can't figure out the shooting settings in this game for controller on PC. There are so many settings and no matter what I do I can't figure it out. It's either way too slow, way too touchy or way too fast and it feels so off compared to every single fps game out there. It was great on BF1 and BFV on Xbox, but when I moved to PC when 2042 came out, nothing made any sense. I've tierd 1 nearly everything but it still feels so off.
The best feeling of a real life weapon and also movement for me, is modern warfare 2 and warzone 2.0, just amazing.
MW always felt more arcade like to me compared to BF. The controls in BF2042 feel even smoother even when sliding around, etc.

@@thetruth1140 Having played bf2042 and mw2, i stick with mw2. Tho it saddens me that mw3 removed many of mw2's mechanics and made it more arcadey like you say.

I was tempted to come back to check the new maps. Now I'm not, visual recoil sucks ski had. I've played every version of beef ever, I'm so disappointed how the franchise is going.
New devs are left to try and learn and figure out how to develop with the Frostbite engine that the original devs knew how to do that are no longer here.

Don't wait. with season 7 coming soon get in and familiarize yourself before the sweats take over. The game is a blast. I started playing last May. The game was buch better by then. Just takethe game for what it is. And u will have fun. I love playing Lis with TV missle and land mines. U can use the mines like C5 (C4), thrown them at vehicles. Good luck..

Higher the caliber and chamber pressure the recoil is more pronounced. This doesn't translate with developers. I don't think they've fired a weapon in their life.

I'm thinking it's there way of giving recoil without having to truly change the mechanics and they will bring actual recoil into the new game and not visual recoil. I don't think he needed to be messed with though.

More attachments that make sense in the game cause these attachments they have now u can't win with them

Tell dice and ea to bring red dot sight and heavy barrel back to m16a3 and heavy barrel for other weapons
If I remember correctly, the game had visual recoil for guns in the beginning and they later updated or altered the weapon animations making them look more stiff and lifeless

I think the recoil is fantastic, I don't play 2042 because the gunplay feels AWFULLL, it'll be nice to actually feel like I am shooting a rifle.

I have a feeling dice is putting things that interested in doing on the new game and the upcoming final patches of 2042... Kind of like a beta test see how we react see how we enjoy or hate said change.
Honestly it's not a bad idea considering 2042 is all about done we might get one or two more seasons three or four big patches and it's done by November
So make sense to start teasing us with features or ideas that they may implement in 2025 now so that way they can get a brief idea on our reactions
There are a lot of things to improve, but they're working on the least we need.

I never had a real problem with the shooting in the game and it seems like a small problem to works on compared to other things that need to be fixed.

Randomness in where your bullets go is meant to protect bad players, and nerf good players.
i just started playing 2042 a month ago. i had weird performance issues on PC which kept me away since launch. but recently i have gotten deep into it and im loving it. IMO its a good successor to the previous games. i like it way better than 5

Honestly fuck EA they’ve expired my credentials and refuse to give me access to my account, I’ve explained to them so many times that the email doesn’t exist anymore and they don’t wanna change the email for me to get a verification now I don’t have access to hundreds of dollars wasted in them.
Too much speculation in the video man! Let the update come out first. The guns do feel the same from lmg to smg. 2042 needs this update to feel somewhat more immersive and grounded
I have no feelings one way or the other regarding the BF2042 gunplay. As it is, the guns are mostly noob-friendly lazers and the intended ranges are mostly broken. BF2042 is essentially a beta test platform for the next title at this point, and personally, I would vastly prefer that they make mistakes in this game, than in the next game.
Finally decided to uninstall 2042 after playing BF1 & BF4 with the mates last night. Feels like a Chinese knock off compared to the older games. Not to mention every lobby I get put in has max 20 players.

Just a dumb "actual feature", gameplay will become like this:
1. See enemy
2. Aim and shoot
3. 50% bullets miss
4. You die
5. Confusion
6. Try again and repeat
7. Enjoyment turns to frustration
8. Quit the game cause "the actual feature"
They want console players to drop thw game entirely. I like how dice still ignores the poor implemented crossplay and the fact that consoles are forced to use controllers vs pc players

COD as full Visual recoil. MW3 was too much. MW2 is much better. BF1 did it quite well. I think it is just going to make the immersion feel better. They might even include an off option like the camera running shake

haven't played BF2042 in 9-10 months and every video I see I just can't get over how bad the game looks and every room or building a sand bag or two nothing else. No wonder BF5 and BF1 look and play so much better

Sadly, this is no battlefield. I hope Dice can do a decent job and never release a game like this. This game is soulless. Animations are horrible, poor maps, horrible operators and gun mechanics. This is the first battlefield ever that after 100h I couldn’t stand it anymore. Oh, and the specialist grappling hook, and Superman flying around…yep…I can’t. I just can’t.

The game is OK right now, I don't hate the gun mechanics or the maps anymore. Specialists and the stupid gadgets (grappling hook, squirrel woman, armor plates, shoulder fired tv-missiles, cringe hacking devices) are a big downside, I hope they remove them from the next game

I agree 100%. This game is extremely stale from the start. Worst BF to date. I haven’t played in over a year. No amount of patches and fixes could get me to come back to it.
The game is not that bad now it was horrible at lunch they've definitely done a 360 on its development and the way it feels though it is just missing a lot of content and still feels very empty overall it went from a 2/10 to a 6.5/10, which is amazing

I’ve been playing since bad company 2 and im far from bad, and i hardly play COD. I was ranked in the top 100 on BF1 at one point. Compared to other battlefield games this one is by far the worst.
It’s always “I haven’t played this game in awhile”…..damn the mighty has fallen ….can’t wait for the next BF …fans stay tuned in ….its gonna be a fantastic ride😢
