    I felt like when he was pulling the wire through for you I was gonna relive a moment where I didn’t hold the flashlight just right for my dad 😂

    Great video. Left the camper for a while and came back to find the heater trips the mains power when i turn on at the panel. Heating with gas is working fine. Thinking the heating element is dead but need to do some more research/ testing first.

    Nice job! Make sure that you check the gas line for leaks as well after connecting the gas line. :)

    Thx. i have an Atwood 10 gallon hot water heater in my motor home and the heater element appears to be on the inside just like in your video. Not sure that I'm up to the task of taking out the entire hot water heater especially since i have an upcoming appointment to fix this very issue!

    How did you test the heating element to make sure that was the issue before pulling it?

    So I have replaced the circuit board and thermal fuse and my electric ⚡️ is still not working so I have to switch back to propane what do you think it might be ?

    • @KevinandKimOutdoorAdventures
      @KevinandKimOutdoorAdventures  8 місяців тому

      Not sure but have you tested the relay on the 12v side? Your switch is 12v and activates the relay to provide 120v power.

    What heating element did you get, where did you buy it from?

    Did you have to cut the pex lines, or were you able to cut the collars and separate the hoses?

    • @KevinandKimOutdoorAdventures
      @KevinandKimOutdoorAdventures  3 місяці тому

      No they just screwed on the fittings in the back.

      @KevinandKimOutdoorAdventures oh duh on me! We're experiencing the electrical portion right now, but the gas is working just fine, though.

      Yes the same thing we had happened. That was a result of turning on the electric without any water in the tank burns up the element in less that 30 secs. If you have a meter, at around 9 min mark I show you how to test it

      @KevinandKimOutdoorAdventures ours had water, but I guess the previous owner had made the mistake. They advised us about the thermal fuse and having to replace it. And I happened to learn about stink bugs hiding in the propane tube myself.

    Does not matter which wire goes on either terminal on heater. Someone should devise a better way to get to element.

    What a nightmare, glad mine is on the outside, but after the 2nd one I burned up with out water in the tank (doh), I decided to keep my propane full, lol.

    Kevin, nice video thanks for posting. My only critique would be this. You refer to hot water heater. Isn’t it just a water heater? If it was hot water, you wouldn’t need a heater! 😝😁

    So dometic is atwood water heater?

    • @KevinandKimOutdoorAdventures
      @KevinandKimOutdoorAdventures  Рік тому

      Yes, Dometic and Atwood are the same. They actually bought Atwood. I hope the video helps

    • @Bobodeman

      @Kevin and Kim Outdoor Adventures got very similar. Ive noticed Australia and America have different model numbers. And our aussie model numbers dometic/atwood dont have on their systems. Cant work out 240v power. I have 240v cable going to water heater. But no switch for it or manual for how it works. I know gas works tho

    • @KevinandKimOutdoorAdventures
      @KevinandKimOutdoorAdventures  Рік тому +1

      @@Bobodeman you may also check the relay off the switch. Mine has a 12v relay that turns on and makes contact for the 120v to heating element. You might want to check that

    • @Bobodeman
      @Bobodeman Рік тому +1

      @Kevin and Kim Outdoor Adventures the 12v switch is only connected to pump and 12v battery

      @@Bobodeman all electric water heaters have an on/off switch on a separate panel or on the water heater itself.

    Sorry, remember, if it were a "Hot, Water Heater" ...you wouldn't have a need to heat it!.... So it's just a water heater.
