As a hard-core PVP’er and someone that hunts down people my best advice for you is put your base near a moon by the asteroid belt. There is no activity for guys like me out there and for the most part pirates will avoid it because there’s not much trade routes by the belt. Unless that changes in the future, that is your best bet because there are going to be sweatyer players than me that will ignore the fun Pyro PVP zone and come hunt down players that do not want to PVP. (For base building)
Not sure if in live but so far the PvP crowd is running straight to the Contested Zones. There are materials to mine so still give it a try because it is all going to be wiped anyway
@@EasyIsHereNot a bad piece of advice pal. I’d venture you are one of those folk who consider non-consensual pvp (hunting folk down) the pinnacle of being a ‘hardcore’ pvp’er 👍🏾
In the current Open PTU, I think the first consideration would be _if you've been involved with any previous Pyro playtests involving the Jump Point._ Whether you are a new player or a veteran player, if this is your first time seeing Pyro, you should absolutely start in Stanton and go to Pyro for the first time by the Jump Point. If you have been there before, I think it's best to choose one of the Pyro stations. In the Open PTU, personally, I'd set my home at Area18 for the same reason as you, to be in Stanton but close to the Jump Point. Once 4.0 goes live, I'll be back to my home at Orison regardless of where I'm going to be playing.
Since I prefer easy access to commodities and services I'll be setting my home in Stanton like all the new players, but will venture into Pyro whenever I feel like it. But since I'm partial to New Babbage I'll pick there instead of Area 18. But I'll also be setting up little storage spots at other locations like the Stanton side of the Pyro jumpgate.
Been in the game for many years but having been away for 2 years only came back for IAE so a bit of a new player myself. For PTU I would go Pyro just to check out the new stuff but definitely plan to set my home in Stanton and make visiting Pyro "expedition" gameplay.
One thing to consider are the hangar types themselves. All the Pyro home ones I have seen are the industrial type which have no room around the sides to park ships or vehicles. I am currently homed at Microtech and there are sizeable alcoves in the hangar for parking small ships and vehicles in, handy for having them there for loading into your ships or creating your own med bays. I can fit a Medical Terrapin in the larger bays. It is worth considering this if you want to create your own personal hangar space with furniture and ships sitting around for show.
Definitely Stanton! If something is going wrong reputation wise or any other reason you can always return, if stations or NPC's keeps shooting at you in Pyro due to reputation issues you may not be able to return to Stanton.
Funnily enough this did happen to Captin FoxyLoxy. One of his party members had their rep bugged and all the gangs turned against him. It turned into a pretty cool moment where Foxyloxy had to rescue him from the stations and all the NPCs attacking him. They used the 890J to escape to the Pyro gateway -- but the station was still attacking them, so they hid among the asteroid debris to avoid the incoming missiles. From there they headed to the jump and made a daring escape while the 890J was taking lots of damage, they manage to escape into the wormhole before the missiles made final impact with the ship, and found safety back in Stanton... .where they promptly died to a bug while entering a hangar in Grim Hex.
Spot on, especially for new players and returning players. Get your feet wet in Stanton. Then move on to Pyro. I'm a returning space trucker after a couple of years absence, so I'll be in Stanton for a while :D
I'm with you. in open PTU, people with some familiarity should set their home in Pyro and get to know it. I won't when it goes live because I like having evening after work play time that is chill. But people that are 110 percent in should absolutely choose Pyro
I'll stay in Stanton with the new players thank you very much. The only thing that would change my mind is the quests for Save Stanton Part 2. If it's going to be a pain to do them while spawning in Stanton I will reconsider.
mostly end up doing hauling or salvage with occasional fps, definitely sticking to Stanton. For sure wanna visit Pyro, but kitted out like I won't make a round trip.
I am not a new player but was also considering do home at area 18. I can be in pyro for moths at some point but I wasn't the thrill of starting the game with minimal resources and eventually feel capable of making the jump and explore pyro for a while. I wont even play in PTU because I want that first jump to mater.
I will be starting in Stanton, earning money and farming gear before journeying to Pyro. However I agree with you that if you’re a FPS Player who plans to run the contested zones a lot then pyro is for you.
Considering how bad previous Christmas patch drops have been, its more prudent to wait till after the new year. I will most likely stay in Stanton for home. My take on Pyro is... Pyro will see a big surge in people wanting to see the "new" when it first hits live. But within a couple of weeks the PVE crowd will move back to Stanton and the weaker PVPers will follow looking for easier marks. Eventually the hardcore PVPers will likewise move back to Stanton just to find marks when even players are scarce in Pyro.. Even the FPS players and contested zones will become stale quickly
SOMEONE please help me out. What would be better to have for when the update drops? A reclaimer or a mole? What would probably make more money? I’ve heard good things for both. Some people argue that a reclaimer is better because there will be much lower start up costs and you don’t need to go crazy with modules.
do we think that 4.0 will bring in new players, maybe players who havent played recently. i dont know how many new players will come just play with and in pyro. thank you danny
I like to do a bit of everything in this game. Prefer not to PVP and I won't attack but nor will I run. New players should absolutely start in Stanton. I will probably do the same. I'm newish. Only just over a year in. Definitely will be going to Pyro and I will likely make an alternate spawn there. Area 18 seems logical. Thanks for the Vid. :)
Everyone wanting pvp should start in pyro, most of the time the elevators won't leave the hab or medical, they can be locked in the hab until next patch as you can't reset your account.
New player or not, starting in a stable zone is usually always more convenient in a game. You can always set your spawn to Pyro later, but do you really want to haul all your starting junk to Stanton if you change your mind? Do you even need your starting junk in Pyro in the first place?
I'm not a new player ,but I think I will still chose Stanton to start in as I should be able to build up the fortune first over there before I can venture into pyro for some smuggling maybe
Although it has been a very, very long time since I was a new player, I’m still making my home in Stanton. I’m not great at combat and I don’t like looking over my shoulder too much.
I'm an industrialist with sprinkles of PVE. My home is with the new players in Stanton. Pyro will be a fun, dangerous, maybe profitable place to visit. But give me creature comforts please.
Set it in Stanton! Pyro is cool as hell and will have a lot of money making opportunities, but you can always set temporary spawns in Pyro. I’d feel safer with my stuff in Pyro
NEw Players and Returning. TBH, I'm going to start in stanton as well. Miner by inclination; we have no real clue yet on mineral distribution of the ore in Pyro- Even once we know, I'll probably home in Stanton and just raid into Pyro for mining runs
Screw new players. _I should absolutely start in Stanton this time!_ I've been forced out of the game this past month or two and now that I'm back I've found the new HUD, MFDs and controls are a bit of a challenge to overcome. I've been able to get around and do things, but I feel like even low threat NPC bounties might be a bit of a challenge as I relearn how to control ships properly.
I mean honestly new players could be fine either way as long as you know how to set spawns. Prob nice to have home hangar close to where you plan to spend most time.
I think initially Stanton is a good bet. I'd like to pad the account with several mil aUEC before migrating over to the Pyro. This might allow for a more relaxed missions without the pressure of needing money for upgrades, components, additional travel costs, time sinks, etc. I don't really care about the home location as its more about the lucrativeness of the area of space. Also to see if the miners and haulers make a significant presence in one area or another.
And I know where the ship components I want are in Stanton. A couple of ship and one needs decent aUEC first. Pyro the choice and location are a bit harder to find.
Until the time when Terra comes online, Stanton is and should be the starting location for new players. As we've seen for the last several years, Stanton has a little bit of everything and can be a good system for getting your feet wet before jumping into the more "hardcore" Pyro play space.
The people who should absolutely pick Stanton are those adverse to PvP. You have to be ready to fight (and die) at all times in Pyro. Not that you will. Just that you have to accept that as a real possibility. Personally, I am spending 100% of my PTU time in Pyro. I have a 15 million credit buffer to get whatever is needed and everything goes away soon anyway. For Live, I'm going right back to Stanton to rebuild my base monetary and equipment base because I definitely won't start with 15 million credits. .
So for me it's a pretty simple decision, pyro doesn't have any planetary based landing zones. I like flying back to my home planet of Arc Corp. So i will be staying in Stanton 😁
My home location will be orison this patch cycle with 4.0 bringing a wipe I'll need to build my gun collection ammo and armor back up to take with me to pyro . I'm very familiar with where I can get what style armor scopes attachment I want through Stanton bunkers not so much in pyro yet but to be truthful I'll probably be smuggling guns and contraband from pyro back to Stanton 😂 weevil eggs and lmg for all Stanton citizens for a small price that is
As someone who is completely open to PVP in pretty much any context, I simply dont think the juice is worth the squeeze in regards to planting roots in Pyro. In other words, the reward of being close to valuable resources and no taxes is not worth the risk of being able to be raided 24/7 or having to compete with giga orgs for control of planetary shielding. It simply makes more sense to build a base in High-Sec and commute to Low-Sec.
Love this topic. Ive thought long and hard about this. Emersion is my thing. I dont like the hangers in Area 18. The City is showing its age. However location and shopping rated Grade A. Hurston, l love the look, dont like the hangers nor the dirtyness of the transit systom. I Like something with class. Hurston has the worst Shopping. However Best location relitive to all the other planits. You can purchase in game ships there. That dosnt intrest me. Orison my runner up. Best ship components high end look. Love the Hangers there same as babbage. Both Hurston and Orison future appts with pads atached something to look 0:03 forward to. Keep in mind going back to 18, 18" it will get a re-work" for more gameplay pve and pvp. Orison has great mining and bounty hunting. Microtec New Babbage, shoping rated B- , great hangers, rentals food and drink simple elavator ride nowbthat we will spawn in our hangers. Reminds me of earth. Gameplay, there are many areas of interest including manufacturing centers for pve and pvp play along with cargo. Mining on the planet as well. The 890 jump mission. Plus, traveling to me is imersive. I feel im leaving on a journey, when I get home, it feels like ive been on a journey and feels great to be back and feels like home. So though its the furthest from the pyro jump point and other planets. That dosn't bother me. Soooo, New Babbage my home. I will also use my land claim there. My second pic, Orison, traveling to all other plantes is great, distance to jumps point isnt that far. If tou like flight pvp. Its the place to be. Pyro will be a journey for frequent visits and ocasional long stays. However, Ineill set my respawn at the uee station near the jump point.
I am still looking for a progressive settlement in the Pyro system. I think basing myself out of there would be great, but their law system marks everyone as hostile to them. If they would just calm down, I would enjoy working with them and basing myself out of their settlement.
I think in addition to new players anyone who is doing mining and salvaging should be based in Stanton and making small jaunts into Pyro for resource collection. But there will be people who don't take the advice given in this video and will have an adverse reaction to life in Pyro.
Makes sense to have Stanton because PvP is so flawed that the idea of entering permanent camper / ganking areas in Pyro doesn’t appeal. I’ll do A18 as the jump gate is close.
The hangars at Pyro are way to dark at this moment, I hope this will be fixed before launch. Anyway, my home location will be Orison. Area 18 will explode with all the (new) players making their home base there.
It might be a good idea for everyone to go to Pyro If we don't then CIG might do something drastic to force more players to go there and I have no desire.
I guess I count as a Startng Player. I've got 40 ships but I don't want to have to go back to Pyro and fight through pirates every time I want to fly something different.
Not a new player, whom i agree should definitely avoid Pyro, but as a space trucker/miner/planet express driver who occasionally dabbles in npc bounties and bunker missions, i'll be keeping my home on Microtech, with the occasional exploratory visit to Pyro once the excitement of slaughtering people as they arrive through the jump gate dies down.
@RavingNut I prefer a life where I can move around without getting shot in every corner 🤣 This security and police stuff is so far in the future. There will be no NPC security that can do anything against gankers and pirates for a looooong time.
"Who should be absolutely be choosing somewhere in Stanton as their home city?" well, I preferer lead and laser not being a consistent inclusion in my daily diet, so Stanton for me.
They're going to shit out a nonworking patch to live. Then go on vacation for 2 weeks. I think they deserve vacation but they should wait til Jan to go live.
Literally WHENEVER 4.0 goes Live, whether next week or next quarter, it will be rough. The difference is that going Live sooner means hotfixing it into shape sooner. It's 4.0.1 Live CIG really needs. PTU will never prepare 4.0 for Live no matter how long they keep it there. There's not enough concurrency, and players behave too differently.
As a miner, I will join the new players in staying away from everyone trying to kill me as soon as I log in.
Same, I was stuck on Grim Hex for 3 days back in the day 😮
As a hard-core PVP’er and someone that hunts down people my best advice for you is put your base near a moon by the asteroid belt.
They will still hang out in stanton, they dont want pvp, they want easy kills to get their little man hard.
I am not a new player, nor am I returning after a long hiatus, but I lean towards the more lawful Stanton as my starting point.
Good breakdown Ray. My plan is to start in Stanton and once I have set up and things have cooled off, I'll make my way over to Pyro.
indeed

I agree with your analysis; new players should be starting in Stanton. Having said that, as a mainly non-combat player, I think I will be too!

A s a new player, I love being told what to do and how to play. But when Ray gives advice - it feels 100% legit.

Totally agree, new players should start in Stanton. I always recommend Lorville because it's in the middle of the system and a few other reasons.
CIG, listen to this man! This counts as getting it in everyone's hands!!! PLEASE keep working on it before pushing it live, Guardian or not
It will be hot garbage no matter how long they take. Release it and keep moving.
mostly end up doing hauling or salvage with occasional fps, definitely sticking to Stanton.

This is exactly what i was wondering... So like, does Pyro have bounty hunter contracts and things like that to do? And if so, do they pay more?
I will be starting in Stanton, earning money and farming gear before journeying to Pyro. However I agree with you that if you’re a FPS Player who plans to run the contested zones a lot then pyro is for you.
Those new players are going to be so impressed with my Arrastra!
I do alot of salvage, so it depends on where is the most amount of scrap to collect, im getting good at doing salvage solo in the reclaimer.
Considering how bad previous Christmas patch drops have been, its more prudent to wait till after the new year.
I will most likely stay in Stanton for home.
My take on Pyro is... Pyro will see a big surge in people wanting to see the "new" when it first hits live. Eventually the hardcore PVPers will likewise move back to Stanton just to find marks when even players are scarce in Pyro..

Besides being a new player, I'm curious if there will be better stability in Stanton as I imagine most people will be spending their time in Pyro.
Thought i would start in pyro but after trying it out today with the QT changes i'll stay with the new players in stanton thanks
A casual player, for me it’s Area18 with the odd visit to Pyros worlds before going back to my hangar.
SOMEONE please help me out. What would be better to have for when the update drops? A reclaimer or a mole? What would probably make more money? I’ve heard good things for both. I agree as a new player, learning to cope with the different "features" in SC, it's probably wise to make Stanton your "home".
I like to do a bit of everything in this game. Prefer not to PVP and I won't attack but nor will I run. New players should absolutely start in Stanton. I will probably do the same. I'm newish. Makes sense for new and re(new) players to start in Stanton
area 18 were the elevators bugged in the hangars
Everyone wanting pvp should start in pyro, most of the time the elevators won't leave the hab or medical, they can be locked in the hab until next patch as you can't reset your account.
Well said Ray ! I agree fully!
New player or not, starting in a stable zone is usually always more convenient in a game. You can always set your spawn to Pyro later, but do you really want to haul all your starting junk to Stanton if you change your mind? Do you even need your starting junk in Pyro in the first place?
Picking Pyro seems akin to picking the Tenderloin District in San Francisco.
I think I'll be doing Pyro for two reasons: A, New shiny thing B, CBA with the trains at other landing zones
I'm not a new player ,but I think I will still chose Stanton to start in as I should be able to build up the fortune first over there before I can venture into pyro for some smuggling maybe
New players will not think the broken things are on purpose. Good advice to try Pyro on the PTU before deciding.
Although it has been a very, very long time since I was a new player, I’m still making my home in Stanton. I’m not great at combat and I don’t like looking over my shoulder too much.
New Players should start in Stanton, Area 18 for logistics if wanting to be close to the Pyro jump point
I'm an industrialist with sprinkles of PVE. My home is with the new players in Stanton. Pyro will be a fun, dangerous, maybe profitable place to visit. But give me creature comforts please.
I tried Pyro and I recommend Stanton if you have a starter sized ship. Otherwise you may get stuck with nowhere to go.
New Players should definitely choose Stanton to start out in
Set it in Stanton! Pyro is cool as hell and will have a lot of money making opportunities, but you can always set temporary spawns in Pyro. I’d feel safer with my stuff in Pyro
New and returning players absolutely should choose Stanton. You can always set spawn in Pyro later if you want.
New players choosing Stanton is an obvious one. Regardless good work on another straight to the point video 👍
The new players in stanton will be tempted to visit Pyro for those contested zones
I am a PVPer but I am starting in Stanton because I need to grind out UEC to reequip my ships.
Beginners or new players should for sure start in stanton, no beginner to hero guides available yet for pyro 😅
NEw Players and Returning.
TBH, I'm going to start in stanton as well. Miner by inclination; we have no real clue yet on mineral distribution of the ore in Pyro- Even once we know, I'll probably home in Stanton and just raid into Pyro for mining runs
I fully agree that New Players should base out of Stanton for a good initial experience
New and returning players will be with me, a regular player spawning at Stanton first. Although I will be through the wormhole as soon as it's live.
I think I agree that new players should start in Stanton
New Players def should choose Stanton. I still load in at A18 most times they reset no matter whats going on.
I mean honestly new players could be fine either way as long as you know how to set spawns. Prob nice to have home hangar close to where you plan to spend most time.
I am a future new player and that makes perfect sense to me 😊
I'm not a new player but i think living in arccorp and doing expeditions to pyro would be the best idea
New players and those with little experience will definately benifit from starting in a safer system like Stanton
New to returning player and anyone who prioritizes convivence should definitely choose A18
I know I'll be sticking to Stanton. I'll probably visit pirate with a bunch of friends but most of my time is spent solo.
I think initially Stanton is a good bet. I'd like to pad the account with several mil aUEC before migrating over to the Pyro. New players like Raymond Daniells, the man fronting Ray's guide
I think, despite my desire to play the contested zones, I'll be joining new players in Stanton.

Honestly you should polish your tactics in Stanton Bunkers
I guess I count as a Startng Player. I've got 40 ships but I don't want to have to go back to Pyro and fight through pirates every time I want to fly something different.
Not a new player, whom i agree should definitely avoid Pyro, but as a space trucker/miner/planet express driver who occasionally dabbles in npc bounties and bunker missions, i'll be keeping my home on Microtech, with the occasional exploratory visit to Pyro once the excitement of slaughtering people as they arrive through the jump gate dies down.
I'll stay away from Pyro. Doubt I'll come even near a jump point before another "safe" system releases. 😅
Or at least semi "safe" for me. Something like Nyx, Kind of lawless but "policed" by a type of mafia.
@RavingNut I prefer a life where I can move around without getting shot in every corner 🤣
This security and police stuff is so far in the future. There will be no NPC security that can do anything against gankers and pirates for a looooong time.
New players should start in stanton 100% and get a feel for things not to mention gear before trying the wild west that Pyro is
I want the new players to come to Pyro
I wonder how the new player experience would be in pyro….
Since 4.0 will come with a wipe i am gonna start in stanton. Need to upgrade before going to pyro. Not a new player i just know the game.
New players are gonna get it rough in Pyro
"Who should be absolutely be choosing somewhere in Stanton as their home city?" well, I preferer lead and laser not being a consistent inclusion in my daily diet, so Stanton for me.
I’m not a new player, but have been away from the game awhile. That being said I’m not much into pvp either, so Stanton it is!
Who should be absolutely choosing somewhere in Stanton as their home city? Absolutely New Players, ofc
New Players should start in Stanton.
There's always hard lessons for new players to learn.
Yeah, new players and non-new returning pilots should start in Stanton.
There's not enough concurrency, and players behave too differently.
haven't played much recently, to the point i feel like a new player lol
