My rheem water heater doen not have a control temp button.it literally had something marked upper lower and neither light was on andcmy water in sinks are sorta hot but my tub is lukewarm at best.i wana adjust it but my mum is scared ill electrocute myself.what do i do?
I bought this a couple years ago. It was leaking from around the valve, not out of the valva. And it only did it during the winter. Then the electric went out on it. Multiple plumbers couldn't figure it out. Rheem decided to switch it out for me. The new one did the same thing. They switched that one out, it was the last one in stock at Home Depot, and it had a couple dents on the bottom, but that one didn't leak. So yay. Now, less than a year later, I move out of my house and have to get it ready for tenants. I've been out 12 days and my friend went to check on the house for me and said it's beeping. I have always kept my temp at 112 because I live in the South and my water heater is in the garage. No leaks thankfully, have to drive up there this weekend and take a look. But my lord I will never buy another Rheem after all the drama with them.
I have bought the same Water heater about 1 1/2 years ago and ever since the Temperature setting has magically raised itself from 120 degrees to 130 degrees and the light in the display panel stays lit 24/7 when that happens. I turn off the power, remove the panel and hit the reset button on the water heater as per instructions in the manual. Now every 3 weeks or so it does it again, go from my settings of 120 (factory setting) to 130 degrees. I try to adjust it via the down arrow but it goes right back up. The only thing that gets it back to 120 is a reset of the heater itself. Well, I have done that for the last year and a half and yesterday when I hit the reset button and turned the power back on the display panel was still blank (turn off). Okay, I call Rheem and they went through the reset again and hitting the on/off button for several seconds etc., etc. No go. I tested the power going to the water heater with my volt meter and there is power going into the heater. So they Fed Exed me a new panel which arrived today and was easy enough to swap out. But when I installed the new panel and turned the power back on. Nothing. Still the same blank display. Reset the heater and pushed the on/off button several times and yet nothing. I called Rheem back and they said someone would call me the next business day to schedule an appointment. Since tomorrow is the 4th of July the next business day is Friday and they already told me since it is a holiday they will probably not call me until Monday to set up an appointment for whatever day. In the meantime I can't take showers anything which I am not used to. I am ready to just toss the faulty Rheem POS and just get me another water heater that works. My guess it's the Reset switch itself that is faulty and needs to be replaced. But I am sure that nobody will have one of those in stock anywhere.
Question: The Performance Platinum Rheem that I plan to buy at Home Depot shows that it includes an "Automatic Water Shut-Off".....How do you connect your water line to that?
I installed the Wi-Fi module to my Rheem electric water heater. I can tell you I found it extremely easy to install. You can turn off your water heater with your smart phone app while you're away on vacation and set it up to come back on hours before your arrive back home. I bought my Rheem 50 gallon Performance Platinum electric water heater at Home Depot.
My electric water heater is 15 years old and in the garage. I insulated it and sat it on a pad - maybe that helped it last? I've never drained it or replaced the anode.
Helpful video. In particular, learning about the vacation setting was of interest, especially for my seasonal property that may be occupied only half the year. It would be helpful to know what type of savings this might produce. However, in reviewing Home Depot reviews of this unit, several people had issues with the touchpad; the tanks without the LCD actually had somewhat higher reviews. I'm therefore some undecided on whether to pay an extra $100 for something that may be more likely to have issues, but would like to know if the savings from the vacation setting might actually offset the additional cost over time.
Please check your hot water heater, this one is likely part of the recall they did for them catching on fire. There are almost 300 reports of them overheating and catching fire!!!
Had mine 4 or 5 months. Today it was off and the breaker was not tripped. Didn't even get an app notification. Reset the breaker and even checked the water heater reset. It won't turn on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
How do you raise the temp. Mine stops at 140 and says you could burn yourself. I had a power glitch and before that it was set at 160. Now I can't get it back to that temp. Thanks
Hey Don, Here is a link to Reem's website. This will explain that setting. Hope this helps you out www.rheem.com/products/tank_water_heaters/hybrid_electric/efficiency_settings
I appreciate that. But that is the Hybrid heater. The standard 40 Gallon heater seems to have no info. Over the phone, a seemingly unsure Rheem Customer Service Rep told me it simply sets the water temp to 130 degrees, which is a useless feature to me, since I keep mine at a more energy efficient 120 degrees.
@@HomeOwnerRepair I don't know they said is the front electric panel I give yo them the code ,And thats what they said they allready send to me the part And they going to send somebody to installed
The control board on these WH's are garbage. After my second one went out, I just replaced it with traditional thermostats from Home Depot for $30 and it works better. If you're buying an electric tank WH, just buy a regular one without the display panel. The UER is the same, so there's no benefit with the display and one less think to fail, which it will.
I have the same water heater and it has gone out and its not even 2 years old yet. It is supposed to have a 12 year warranty. Rheem won't warranty the unit and have voided my warranty over the phone. They did say that I would have to pay to get it fixed. Now I have to fix it myself or get another water heater. I will never buy another Rheem again. They find any excuse to void your warranty.
Please don't say that, because this replaced my 12 year GE one that went out after 2 years. Remember the old glass bottom water heaters that never failed...arrrrrrr!
Update. I have had to call and speak to several managers at Rheem. They have finally resolved the issue. Some how the first person I spoke with thought I put this water heater in a travel trailer and told me my warranty was void. I had to explain many times that I live in a manufactured home not a travel trailer. The have reinstated my warranty and sent me the needed parts at no cost. Be very clear if you must file a warranty claim.
actually in this case the hybrid is a hot water heater since the heatpump actually pre-heats the water and the elements heat the preheated water, so in other words it heats up hot water making it a hot water heater
anticapitalize But the bad thing is most pros understand that people that don’t know regularly call it Quote Hot Water Heater And let it pass to avoid making people that are not pros feel like idiots And further more I Tran my guys to not point out these nonpro remarks by the everyday average person Because if a pro is really a pro he will understand that his experience shines though by not looking like and idiot by correcting someone that is paying him to be a pro Don’t look like you a PRO!!!!!!

Mine has sensed water (not related to the heater) and has beeped a few times.

Why do you need hot water to take a shower? Be a man and take a cold shower like the rest of us.
Sorry just noticed this.
Question: The Performance Platinum Rheem that I plan to buy at Home Depot shows that it includes an "Automatic Water Shut-Off".....How do you connect your water line to that?
There should just be a cold water line in to supply the water heater and then a hot water line out to supply the house.
I installed the Wi-Fi module to my Rheem electric water heater. I can tell you I found it extremely easy to install. Good luck to them, I have an impossible password.
Thanks for watching.
I just brought mine back to Home Depot. Rheem had a recall on these water heaters.
This was a replacement for the last recalled water heater from Home Depot
thanks
What do you suggest I do if the blue light is on at 122 degrees, but I have no hot water?
Is there a code or anything?
had to replace the control panel.... does it dim and stay on or should the light turn off.
I believe it just dims

+LA Verdes Mine has been fine with no issues to report

Great....thanks for the warning. The hot water heater I bought before this one was recalled too😡

Did you ever figure this out. Just saw the comment
How do I reset it? My pet went out yesterday and not I have no hot water. I don’t see a reset button
You should be able to go into the menu and arrow up or down to set the temperature.
How do you raise the temp. Mine stops at 140 and says you could burn yourself. I had a power glitch and before that it was set at 160. Now I can't get it back to that temp. Thanks
Hi Keith, It is not recommended to turn your water heater up that high because the hot water could seriously burn you.
@@HomeOwnerRepair Yeah - that's dangerous. Unless your trying to boil eggs with your tap water that's crazy.
Does it have to be shut off if you're away for 4 months? What do you do when you have to turn it back on?
Sorry just noticed this question
Is there a code setting if the display is not showing anything
Maybe try to turn off let it sit for a minute then turn to back on to see if that resets anything.
I been without hot water for a week. The water heater is the same as this one won’t turn on.
Charymar Montero
Im having the same problem
Please check for recall on it, there were some recalls for the control panel catching fire!
Sorry just noticed this question
where is the reset button
Sorry just noticed this question
With the WiFi can you set night mode like vacation but at night?
I don't think so, however it is not something I have tried.
How to drain Rheem smart electric heater
There should be a drain valve at the bottom of it.
Does anyone know how the E-Saver Mode is supposed to save energy? No one at Home Depot or Rheem Customer Service seems to be able to answer that.

Sorry just noticed this question
I have the same one I boutgh 5 years ago And yesterday start beeping I call to the company And they said they going to replace the part that is broken
Is is beeping because the water sensor on the wire is wet? Mine has done that.
@@HomeOwnerRepair I don't know they said is the front electric panel I give yo them the code ,And thats what they said they allready send to me the part And they going to send somebody to installed
How do you flush it?
You should be able to crack the valve at the bottom of the tank to let any sediment free.

How to fix hot
Is there a code?
I started wondering why the rheem water heaters feel so light compared to the Ao smith water heaters? QUALITY CHECK!....😂😂😂
I've had good luck with mine.
Please fix audio. Levels are atrocious.
I try my best, sorry the audio on this one wasn't the greatest.
it's a "water heater", not a "hot water heater". Calling it the latter is redundant and drives pros crazy.
I agree, why would you want to heat hot water................ no such thing as a HOT WATER HEATER
actually in this case the hybrid is a hot water heater since the heatpump actually pre-heats the water and the elements heat the preheated water, so in other words it heats up hot water making it a hot water heater
