Brian Shaw yesterday: 775LB for reps
Thor today: 888 for reps
Eddie tomorrow: I've torn my chest
I laughed
😂
😂😂 good one mate
Brian was using a power bar and did more reps so...
Don’t get me wrong Thor may very well be stronger but there’s a difference in the lifts
imagine if he’s hydrated... wait wrong channel
Not hing ok?
Brian's late again.
You put this on Larry wheels
@@harrisasghar6510 eddie hall!
Harris Asghar Eddie hall*
I love that your dad is always there for your training. Cherish every moment, I miss my dad every day.
Also: For safety's sake you might want to coach his deadlift form a little bit hehehe :-)
I think I make the same mistake as his father. I started lifting in October, and haven't had anyone show me proper form yet.
Why does that happen, and what can I do to avoid it?
He’s employee of the year
@@Photec look up deadlift form and replicate that in the mirror while training.
@@user-zz5og2lf7p I have, and everything is great when I'm at 120kg or less. As soon as I get to 140-150 or 160 kgs, suddenly my legs and my back start lifting separately instead of as a single movement, and no matter what I try to do it keeps happening. Guess I have to get a PT or something.
@@Photec Too much weight for you then. You have to practice with lower weight to get the form in check, otherwise you will never get it right. I also started deadlifting like 3 months ago, i had to lower the weight a bit too.
Waiting for a 500 kg + deadlift with a viking beard
501kg
from the looks of that 403 its doest seem like its coming this year but who knows
@@ThunderWolfUE I think he has a good chance my dude. Man is HUGE. A lot bigger than Eddie at his biggest. If he keeps training, doesn't get any injuries, I can see it happening. I think it's only a year or two before we start seeing a handful of men hitting 500 kg.
Curtis John hes a lot taller though
Why waiting for 500kg? And how can u deadlift with a viking beard?
Shaw uploads a 780 deadlift session, Thor uploads his 800+ lifts the very next day.
Its an arms race! Cold war in the strongman profession!
Tbh Thor announced it yesterday that he was gonna upload a heavy session today.
Brian was injured tho, still not back in 100 % shape deadlift.
As long as there's no nut hitting like in Wheel's video. Keep it clean.🤣
Brian did 780 for five (=1RM 877), Martins 803 for five (=1RM 904) and Thor 888 for two (=1RM 914). Brian and Martins are in their last week of Training before contest and Thor has 8 weeks to go. Still Thor did the lifts who were most impressive. We will see if Brian can keep up and close the difference in deadlift to Martins in Santa Monica after building up after his harmstring injury. Even though Brian will beat Martins when it comes to upper body strength, as Martins won't be at 100% due to his nerve issues and Brian has nothing lost in this regard. Thor is the one without major injuries which decrease his performance and he is currently and still the strongest of all three of them it seems.
Thor's form is perfect
Spirit of Life & Truth I love that he treats every single warm up weight the same as his top set too 👌🏻
@@jrogers5152 It's just as mental as physical.
Well he is maybe debatably the strongest deadlifter of all time, i know most people say Eddie, but their top numbers are on a whole different setup, but when you look at lifts where they both lift with the same setup Thor has a tiny edge on eddie, like at the arnold's where Eddie's record is 464kg and Thor's is 474kg
Yes, almost as good as Andy Boltons form.
Rani Wishahy why are you comparing a lift from 2016 to thors recent one in 2019?
I love the nod to Marints when he goes "Hafthooor!", seems like they're good buddies
403kg 2*2 is insane for preparation, hafthor is gonna destroy the Arnold’s this year again
you know hall did 420 kg for 5 reps not even belt on in prep...
Chrontard well I didn’t mention hall because I’m not comparing them... but this is Thor in the beginning of his prep, he isn’t even close to his maximal potential yet...
Chrontard Hall did his geared with a suit on underneath. This session has no suit on underneath.
@@Chrontard who, those retired count nothing
JokerSins 27 correct hall did his world record (300lbs) heavier than this with a suit
These prep videos for the Arnold Classic are fantastic. We feel like we are on this journey with you. Almost there!
Not only that, but I'm learning so much here! For example; grip work, Thor recommended holding the barbell behind the body for time, and I've implemented that into my training. Also tips to manage volume and intensity, how to deload etc. Its my favourite fitness related series on youtube!
Maciej Matuła Yes absolutely. Great videos.
Mate, you are truly blessed! Family friends, business, strength. It's amazing to watch.
Agreed.
Cmon Thor you gonna get the 501kg record!! On a side note seeing strongman lift 800+ deadlifts reminds me of how insane was Ronnie Coleman doing the same for bodybuilding
In deadlier suit knee wraps Etc . I remember Ronnie on the squat rack with 800 look like he could have pumped out more , just a Juiced to the gills animal combined with great genetics and heart
Why not 520kg
@A.A.Ron Davis someone will believe me humans pumped with better steroids will grow so much and lift unbelievable weights
@A.A.Ron Davis but eddie surpassed te last record by 20 kg? 501kg just isn't that exiting as the 500kg pull.
How do people keep forgetting he was a powerlifter before he turned towards bodybuilding? He wasn't just a bodybuilder
I'm really liking the editing recently, love the dimmed sound and metal music playing when the heavy sets come up. IT GETS ME HYPED!
So awesome seeing you training from start of prep.
Loving the content
2020 going to be strong year
I feel like Thor had a solid 4 reps for the 403kg deadlift
i agree. but going slow and steady might be the best way to ensure a succesful and long strong man life :P
Usually for strength development it's better to have maybe a rep or 2 left in the tank since. Strength is relative to how much ur CNS so if you can pr or get stronger without having to grind it's better
True but there's a reason he didn't go for it.
Yeah in competition, maybe 5 but unlikely
yeah but hes building up to 1000#+ deadlift so gotta leave some for next session
Why is no one else super stoked about Stefan!!!? So happy to see him again training with you guys!
I'm a huge fan of Stefan.
Happy new year big man hope you have a successful 2020
Love watching you workout and love seeing how much your pops is involved with you! Awesome!
Dude those deadlifts are insane!! Also it's so epic, makes me want to go to the gym so much more :)
These videos just radiate warmth - love them!
Arnold Classic podium prediction:
1. Hafthor (just so freaking dominant when healthy)
2. Mateusz (the future king, just a beast)
3. Martins (also a beast, but will not keep up with Mateusz)
Mateusz deadlift is lacking hard compared to these guys, we'll see
@@tableaupablotalbo That´s the only thing he lacks, he´s strenght on the upper body is just mental
@@tableaupablotalbo I wouldn't say it's lacking hard. He's gotten 420 and just missed on 430. 2-3 years ago I'd agree with you, but he's improved massively.
@@baconfromhell666 but hafthor is around 480 and licis around 460, over 50kg in deadlift is alooooooot specially at this level where 5kg is a huge improvement
dont forget the big stoltman ! he will be dangerous this and the next years and he is still young. his atlas stone performance and deadlift is impressive as hell
This is a perfect example of somebody who stepped back with injury only to come back stronger, I love Larry and others but you train through injuries you lose longevity, and before everyone says he didn't stop training he really did reduce intensity.
Pppppfffttt so what 🙄 I just NAILED the elliptical for 40 mins straight on a medium setting with only a few water breaks! Beat THAT!
The new explosion for your website at the end of the intro is perfect.
Thor you are a UNIT OF A HUMAN BEING. You are a huge inspiration for me. Seeing you do all of this keeps me going on my journey to achieve my fitness goals. Thank You.
'Platform' and 'Potassium'...those are my two favourite words that Haffy says! Something about that accent makes me smile.
Good workout champ 2020 looking solid!
Thor's dad's grip is just immense!!
Ahhh. My daily dose of motivation.
While watching your progression in your training routine My new favorite thing is to watch the progression you’re fathers making as his reps increase he is coming along really well keep up the good work father Hafthor
Theres no real competición in stromgman until Thor retires, and hes still in his peak. This man is on another level above the rest
Hes a combination of brian shaw and eddie hall.
I mean he didn't win last year, still a top level athlete but "no competition" isn't really accurate
@@Me-wk7dz He won arnold classic
@@Me-wk7dz Licis won cause Thor was injured
Shaw in his prime better . numbers don't lie but Thor definitely has a chance to surpass him . I just hope they all stay healthy it's so cool when respectful rivalries start
Its always nice to see you training in such a great atmosphere
Training looking good champ! Best wishes!
I really have been enjoying the contest prep as well as seeing you train with family and friends. What a long and brutal session but that's why you are the best in the world.
Nice training session 💪💪 greats from Poland ! Inspiration for hard work !
Mateusz have very good results and hes still young so he’s our future when Krzysztof Radzikowski go to retiring. I hope all this big men’s will be lift many years like Savickas :)
I don't do bodybuilding; I bike but I love your youtube channel.
I prefer to look at those who make strength rather than mr olympia. Thank you very much for the good times I spend watching your family videos with your father, your wife. A French friend. Sincerely.
Manual
Hafthor coming in hot for that world record deadlift
Wont be the world record. Eddie's was on a normal bar. Elephant bar is easier. Even if he gets 500 on the elephant. He would get 500 on a normal bar.
Wouldnt*
@@brettsmith1458 elephant bar is harder then a normal bar
@@keeplion7821 false it takes more effort at a lower center of balance on strong bar, and elephant it slowly increases the weight resistance as you extend which makes it much easier as your already 1/3 upright when full weight is lifted
@@shable1436 how do you know
Your dad has the been the best addition to these videos
Such a simple humble man
Looks like he is competing against himself... No one is close to this guy right now
Good to see your personality is coming through
Brian Shaw was quite happy to lifting 700lbs for reps..
Thor : hold my red plates!
Justice Warrior no. He did 775 for 5 and not 888 for 2
Bad cold and still banging that weight out👍🏻😎
He looks really, really strong this year, early in prep.Looks like he’s going to be extremely hard to beat in this form.
I hope he stays injury free and performs to his full potential.
Everybody else is going to have to up their game to keep up, no doubt about it.
Kelseys toilet humour would go down well with The Stoltmans!
Best strongman content at the moment, really look forward to the videos.💪
Anyone else love the little fist shake he does after every set of any exercise.
I was waiting for these episodes.🤘
Enjoyed the workout. I also like the camaraderie with your friends and missus during the workout.
THAT IS SUPER AWESOME RAW THOR POWER!!🤗🤗🤗👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼🥇🥇🥇🥇
Lol, Stefan Solvi looking cross-faded as fuck at 10:55
What a legend!
Apart from being incredibly strong, Thor must be literally the biggest Human being on the planet. Yes their are people who are taller, but it’s just his sheer circumference & body mass that makes him huge.
I smell a 1100 Deadlift this year. Thanks for showing us these raw deadlift sessions. I enjoy them the most!
Brian Shaw: *Uploads "775 deadlift for reps"*
Hafthor the next day: *Uploads "888 Deadlift for reps"*
I noticed lol
I am super excited to see you complete in the Arnold this year bro big fan and this will be my first time at the classic.
I love the intensity step up for 400 plus kgs whole gym goes in to beast mode mindset.
Strong than ever. Nice 💪🏻
I'm loving the daily content
Looking strong. 888 for reps and looked like you had good speed. I think you're going to pull a big number come March.
I love what you do, still going!
Brian Shaw: 775 for reps!
Thor: Aww, that's adorable.
7:36 thor gets violated by a sneaky fairy 😃
Thor yelling Hafthor with his hand up high just like Martins :)
I did 335lbs yesterday and felt like a monster lol this guys amazing
Love it your dad works out with guys.
whats up Thor I just saw the world strongest man competition and you did amazing. You are unique and one of a kind man. Keep doing what you been doing and you will show the world how important being strong is. Never weaken keep grinding and your victory of life will soon be in your hands. Keep it up. Strong Man is in your Icelandic Blood
your training is powerful , very good
cool show
Merci pour la vidéo c'est super gentil de faire autant de vidéo 💪💪
He's smashing that 500 kg. I remember typing on thor's older videos to start uploading his YT chan regularly from year+ ago and now hes at 240k+ subs. Times fly.
Curious if you have an episode already or maybe idea for one in the future specifically on the supplements you are using and the intake schedules of them.
Great video. Bjørn has been going strong the last couple of weeks. . . maybe he will compete for Iceland's Strongest Man next year? 😁🤔 Thor, great lifts on the 888lbs. Your husavell run is also first-rate. I have faith in you and your abilities to make your mind and your body work together for maximum performance. Good to see Kelc33 in there again... I was wondering.... Lol. Also, great use of that Icelandic language you have been studying so intensively. 😉😉
Продолжай идти в перёд ....
Успехов тебе !
i love the music. sets a great tone.
Nice work Thor! 888 looks light
Great determination Thor way to get it!!!!!
Hafthor / Martin's :>) you guys have to do that one day, thanks for uploads and inspiration , all the best from Canada, P.e.a.c.e 2020 the year of the good monsters like you guys.
Good luck Thor. You are much more in shape than previous years. You will be champion without any difficulties.
Lmao he's doing a "Halfthor" cheer the way Martins does a "Martins" cheer. Love these guys
I see what you did there Thor .
Happy CNY to everyone !
Stefan! So good to see him in a video 🤘
This is Power!
Guys, I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news but:
1. We're not going to see a 501kg Deadlift at the Arnold Classic. Eddie Hall trained for Months at the Deadlift to get it right.
2. Brian Shaw's best days are behind him. Hamstring injury or not, he's now where Big Z was... his age is too much of a factor to stay top 3.
3. Cheer for these Strongman now more then ever before. This isn't a career you stay in for the long hall and even Thor may be considering only 1 to 3 more years of competition before hanging it up. This group is the best of the best!
@Vegans Suck I'm not saying that 500kg will never be broken... it's just not happening this soon at the Arnold. They can put 510kg on the bar, but it won't be lifted.
With Brian, age is a huge factor. Your body takes longer to recover from intense exercise as well as injury. Keep in mind that Shaw is 6 year's older than Thor. Shaw even admitted that he's had to switch up his training routine to allow for a quicker recovery. That's code for more rest days.
@Vegans Suck I hope you're right and we see the Deadlift record broken but don't expect it. I can tell you're passionate and a big fan of these guy's but getting stronger doesn't occur in huge leaps and bounds, sometimes it's baby steps. Back in March of 2018, Thor lifted 472kg (1041 lbs). Eddie lifted 500kg (1102 lbs). So Thor needs to add more than 28kg (61 lbs) to the bar for a new record lift. That's not easy - infact it's an Everest climb! The difficulty is also that you can't attempt the record in your home gym, needs to be live. So everyone is saving their best lifts for the Arnold which is literally around the corner. Again... too soon. Thor will do it one day.
@Vegans Suck Go to the gym and Deadlift your one rep max, then add more than 61 lbs the next year. I will tip my hat off to you if you are able to pull it off. If I am wrong about the attempt and Thor has it in the bag as you claim, I'll revisit this after the Arnold and tell you that you were right. If not, don't comment on Deadlifting.
@Vegans Sucklike I said... wait until the Arnold and let's see what happens. I think it's too early and I lift bro. Not sure what your numbers are looking like but from the way you talk they must be huge! Since you obviously lift a ton you must clearly know how the human body performs under pressure. My friend, I lift with local power lifters and the addition of 60+ pounds in a year is massive. It takes so much dedication in the gym and your nutrition has to be on point. Just 2 weeks ago, my buddy hit 675 lbs on the Deadlift. He needed two full rest days after that. The amount of physical strain it takes to lift consistently is unfathomable. But why am I telling this to you... you obviously know everything. Don't forget about me... when the Arnold is over and the Eddie Hall Deadlift record is unchanged I'll be sure to reach out and say hi! 👊
You are amazing!!
18:09 "oo shit I ruind Thor's shot I gotta run!"
Starting to get proper heavy again 💪😎
LOL..."I poked him in the bum"...better than a hit of Thor's Ammonia. Hello!
