The less space you need to green the more deadly you become as a shooter. It’s especially important for a off-ball shooter to know what’s an open shot and what’s not
I agree with a lot of what your saying but it doesn’t change the fact that the contest shot system needs some work. If your taller I feel you should get a higher contest if you time it correctly. It’s proven that mismatch lowers shot contest % but we can only adjust to the mechanics 2k puts in their game 🤷🏿♂️
Yeah but this is supposed to be a real like game n in real life cold short niggas can cook taller Niggas plus badges like rhythm shooter n shit plus timing nigga a green is a green
It eliminates contest fam i had a 7”0 big like 55 perimeter D , i blocked a green shot from a 5”9 and the contest said “open” ….. like i was pissed even tho I block it cause its not like i had zero perimeter
I stopped watching 2k youtubers after 2k18, most of them big channels I just found annoying with the constant clickbait, lack of personality, and enjoyable content in general. Glad I found your channel today. Every video I've seen so far has been 🔥🔥🔥
A key takeaway from the video outside of the contest system is how Dime actually PRACTICES his moves and shots against CPU. Alot of yall complain about the game going against you but you never take time to practice like this to get better. Good work DIME 💯
I consider good shots: shots that are either wide open or look wide open when you shoot them. If you would consistently shoot that shot and make it, I’d consider it a good shot. So some shots I’ll green congested and I believe it’s a bad shot because of the contest. Some shots look open until someone jumps and manages to get a small contest and even if it misses, I’d consider it a good shot. So the main thing is, “Would you choose to take that shot multiple times throughout the game and would you make it a high percentage of the time?” Also some shots could be considered bad if you take it contested when someone else is wide open
Love the dive into game mechanics. When you slow down the tape most of these aren’t well contested - defender either isn’t close enough or doesn’t get a hand up in time. Elite shooters don’t care if a guy is standing 4 ft away with his hands down - it’s like they aren’t even there. I think where there could be some improvement is in the defensive mechanics of being able to get in position and/or get a hand up in time to get a real contest. Game isn’t responsive enough to get there a lot of the time.
The main problem is the shots that are highly contested, hand in the face and even a jumping contest but it goes in off a slightly. I have no problem with a good shooter making contested shot but as a bare minimum you should NEED to green it. Same with super deep threes. I don’t mind “bad” shots going in, but you should at least have to green the shot.
For the most part the shot contest system this year works logically. A super late bailed contest doesn't affect the shot as much and that's how it should be. There are always instances where it's questionable. The much bigger problem this year was how often late/early releases could go in. With late/early, any type of decent contest (20% or above) should more drastically impact shot percentages. Good video!
they need to make free throws tougher...a team was down by 3 and got a foul at 3 line with 2 seconds left in rec.. ans the guy goes to line and shoots 3 early releases in a row and all go in.. like one of the early releases out of 3 shoulda missed.. 2k is dumb
Aye man, is it a good shot? No. However, I know a tough shot maker when i see one. You was cookin 🔥 If somebody hitting these types of shots effortlessly, that ain’t luck. Gotta respect it. I like how you explained the way the contest system works and showed EXAMPLES of it happening against real players in Rec. Once the ball is out ya hands it don’t matter what the defender got going on. You broke down the Mike Wang post fully too. Good video.
Love this explanation, yep and this how I figured it out back in season 6 and started looking for a higher release jumper that was fairly quick, lol. Love the content my guy 🔥💯
Imma test this out in park today, all great points you’ve made within the Contest system, I don’t think there bad shot’s at all like you said if you already at release point with your jumper and the contest is late with no hands up or jumping at the shot it should be green💯🔥, great explanation’s n good details keep up the good work for the community
In my experience, the only way to stop shots is how you play defense. It may sound ridiculous however you really have to adjust to stop shooters. That hands up only works on saving your ankles (that is stupid to me, tbh). In 2k you can complain however you better adapt. In A LOT if not all of these no one jumped. I don't stop everything yet understanding through your explanation, I manage to be in air when people go up to shoot (you have to test and remember how the cover is moving tho, easy to be on air on a fake if you don't). I don't like the ways a bunch of those shots looked (even when I shoot them)....you just got to adapt. I, tbh, now look even further down on these 20 second illegal/chase screen takers because this proves you don't need 2-3+ screens in a play to shoot one shot. Keep it up Dime.
Contested shots should not be dropping like that ever. You are literally shooting LOCKDOWN TAKEOVER greening. That should never happen. You say that they should have got a better contest like a 30 or better but in 2k22 a 16 percent is like a 60 from 21. People should not be hitting contested in front of locks faces like that unless they have sharp badge....sometimes
Why is it that when a playshot pops sharp take they turn into a demi bug when a lock pops take( which rarely ever happens) they still get blinderd and mismatched. Its not fair at all
The game favors small playshits he sayin ppl are playing bad Defense which many ppl are but for the minority that are playing good D are still getting bitched by 5’7 playshits
Not going to lie those are bad shots but since your able to green them people would say that they are good shots but I’m sure you’ll be able to get open and create a better shot
@@Dimework it’s crazy i been saying this all year people have high stats threes and to make it worse the badges 😂😂😂😂 to make many shooting badges that boost ur attempts while the one defensive badge u have that helps with shot contest is prolly low on guards because guards are not putting there block up to 80 plus it makes sense y those shots fall the way the day 🤷🏾♂️
A green is a green, you see people shoot tough shots all the time in real life, but if it’s not a green it shouldn’t go in. Especially if it was a slightly late, I think slightly lates should miss more often, than slightly early shots.
I don’t think defense is the issue, it’s the fact that jumpshots are EXTREMELY quick and often quicker than the representative defensive animations. Many of the left right quick shot animations don’t have defensive animations quick enough to keep up. So even if you are in good position, it’s hard to “Look” like you’re getting a contest.
I hear you…but even if that were to be true, I feel like at some point users have to adapt and learn how to effectively defend with what we have. Might be easier said than done - but we can’t just continue to blame things not going our way on the game being imperfect.
@@Dimework true it’s a give and take thing. And it helps when people who play the game actually watch how the game is played and play in real life. That type of experience helps bridge the gap between gaming and basketball
contested shots can be good shots to me also, I think it’s some players in real life that can hit tuff shots with players in they face and three good examples I’ll give is players like Kobe, Steph, and Demar Derozan who hit shots b4 even when the defender is playing (good D) , it’s just them confident enough in they game and that comes from WORK. Those players practice for those type of difficult shots and not just open ones. So now let’s translate that into 2k when we play against players that understand they game and the game mechanics, that comes with work and time ( that you prb have no idea where it comes from but 9x10 that player practices, but it’s easy to just look at the greens somebody making on you and not acknowledge what your doing wrong and how you can try your best to stop them from scoring more , def if that player has a unique play style and your Defense is not all that well which should make you go harder on offense), and 2k players like Dime play the game and test the mechanics, use the appropriate badge line ups, and what badges fit your stronger skills for your player which enhances they chances of knocking down tuff or open shots it’s all cuz they put in THE WORK, like real players do just in a video game way ( it’s some goofys that do cheat and cheese tho ) , but it’s times where you’ll prb run into a pretty kool player that just knows what he or she is doing when it comes down to a bucket . but this is just my take tho Great Vid.
I completely agree with your point regarding the 6’8 player pulling up over the smaller guard and being able to green a pseudo contested shot. That is very realistic. I’ve discussed this with you before, I’m not a fan of promoting people to make incredibly small guards just to exploit the mismatch badge. When I made the jump to from high school to college basketball, the height difference was significant. My defender was generally taller than me and the space needed for me to get my shot off increased greatly. I understand great shooters make contested shots over taller players in the NBA. But you would be hard pressed to find a player 5’8 in the NBA that shoots 75% from 3 like we see in 2k. Mismatch badge should work in the opposite fashion on the perimeter. It makes more sense that Kevin Durant can shoot over Pat Beverly rather than Mugsy Bogues can shoot over Scottie Pippen.
If they turned mismatch expert into a bafge where taller players can shoot better over shorter players, 2k would be awful. It’s already not great, but everybody would just make 6’7 glitched 2 way guards and the badge would become useless for everyone who is not a 7’-7’3 big man. Nobody would bother making shorter 5’11-6’3 guards. Plus imagine being in a positiom where your center cannot get to his man at the 3 line and a smaller guard or forward has to contest a shot from a 7 footer stretch big with that version of HoF mismatch expert, combo’d with deadeye, corner specialist, catch and shoot, and the already existed im game mechanic of height being an advantage for shooting that was explained in the video. I think the reason they introduced mismatch expert is because it makes people want to make smaller players and creates more variety in the playerbase. In previous 2k’s there were absolutely no advantages to making an undersized player, so 90% of players made the same build and the game would be stale.
I’m not really 100% on this. I personally would not recommend anybody play this game to look for shots like these. Dime you’re a great player but if I’m running with casuals or average players this is not the shots I want them trying to take. And that’s pretty much more than half of the community.
I agree with you that elite shooters should be able to hit mildly contested shots… however, I don’t agree with that perspective in 2k specifically, just because bums can create builds with 99 3pt rating and get bailed out. What 2K needs to do is ; 1. Implement a system where you can only max your stats to 80, and your attributes gradually increase based on your performance online…. But this will never happen. 2. 2K should remove badges and have a players attributes dictate how effective they are in an online game…. But this also won’t ever happen. Since those thing will not happen… there needs to be some type of balance in this arcade style game. This is why 99 3pt shots cannot go in at a “realistic” clip. Damn, I miss when 2K was an NBA simulation style game…. Now it’s catered to bums.
Totaly unrelated from the contest system. Just had to get this off my chest. I was playing PG in the rec with randoms. I was spreading the ball out to my teamates (11 assists) and I scored 17 points. Then the SG starts BS'ing and running all around the court, not playing D, and flopping. He was playing a decent game and i'm pretty sure he had more points then me so i had no clue what got him upset. We still won the game, but his antics at the end almost blew it for us. After the game i send a message like "yo wassup" and he gets all defensive telling me how trash I am 😂. These rec randoms man 🤦♂️
my problem is the consistency. elite scorers always overpower elite defenders in the game because offense is so highly favored. the frequency of contested shots going in on elite defenders is crazy.
I understand the breakdown and everything. I play private Pro AM a lot. Some league or just friends and we play 10s. I’m not gonna say I’m the best lock bc I’m not but I understand what I’m doing. I been on lock since 2k17 when the archetype stuff started. No one should be able to drive 14-18 seconds every quarter and still green😂 I do understand tho. I be having bad positioning sometimes and I make the wrong reads and try to predict. But sometimes offense just gets bailed out. The offensive skill gap isn’t that big compare to the defensive skill gap. Plus having people just run back and forth through a screens just makes it worse
I understand why you made the contested shot you were talking about at 9:35, but the reason I would personally call that a bad shot is because you could have swung a pass to the guy wide open at the top of the key. I would only call that a good shot if your teammates are bad shooters or the clock is running down.
I agree with a lot of what your saying but at some point the 2k community have to stop being so offensive minded. Everyone knows that you need high perimeter defense when guarding the perimeter rights. Please explain to me why do I need blocks to unlock intimidator. Intimidator attributed rating requirements. 54.B 65.S 81.G 95.H And keep in mind that your block tight to your wingspan a max wingspan 6’3 guard get a 68 block rating. Also remember that you delayed on defense.
My build is a 6’3 max wingspan sharp lock, I play predominantly on ball and hash lock. PG’s barely can get a good shot off on me UNLESS they get a screen. Now some of the PG’s would hit a 15-38% contest on me but I can live with that. As long as I had a decent contest, I know I was playing decent defense and had a decent position to effect the shot. I’ll never discredit a great shooter
How I see it those are some bad shots because take in account the first clip there was one defender in the corner his he brought the ball to the hash corner would be wide open or corner then it would be a wide open or open shot. The second shot 8 is wide open for a mid range jumper or a 3, the third shot wasn’t a bad shot, the forth shot left wing was wide open for a mid range the fifth shot he faded into the defender if he didn’t fade he would have a wide open jumper or corner and the off dribble middle isn’t too bad cuz that’s a late contest. The second to last shot can’t really say what he could have done there and the last shot was a good shot imo. What does anyone care I’m just a random rec pg, but not gonna lie I still respect dim cuz he a shooter, and shooters gonna shoot but keep up with the bangers cuz this did teach me about the contest system tho 🙏🏼
I’m pretty sure we played random rec last night together, that game was like a cartoon, I was tripping on shrooms and other than you the team was bums 😭😭 almost got beat by 3 ai
Bro Kobe mj praised for making shot like these we all want builds that play like those niggas but the community only want to play like curry not have to go against someone who plays like curry this a great vid bruh this community is delusional bro
Dime, you have to do video on how to stop those shots as well. You know Defense is lacking in this game, hands up don't work, just show us what we need to do against a pg who is spamming Trae Young escape after a speed boost and yes please include those screens too. Show the antidote, this video only proves offense beats defence in this game 🤷♂
The best way to beat those trae young and curry sliders is to have teammates willing to work w you. We played against some guy last night doing that shit, and he was killing in the beginning until we started helping our PG out. Switching, hedging, it all depends on the scenario
considering u have a 99 3pt rating most of those were good shots but they could go either way meaning its a good shot since u made it but if u miss it then its a bad shot
Hey Dime, I’ve been watching you for a while but still have been wondering how to get into rec. I don’t want to throw from the start so I was wondering if you can show each individual role(center point, etc) ms how to play them
its neither good or bad ITS JUST A DECENT SHOT💯🤷🏾♂️a light contest is GREENABLE but jus because it is greenable doesnt mean it is GOOD SHOT because even if u have a 99 n u cold asf at the game u cant CONSISTENTLY hit those 30% contest at the same clip as a open shot💯🤷🏾♂️a good shot is a CONSISTENT BUCKET DAMN NEAR EVERY TIME whereas these light contest can go in SOMETIMES ur not gone shoot 10/11 off 30% contested shots all game💯at the right time a yellow contest can be a SMART shot but it isnt a GOOD SHOT and u dont wanna be pullin yellow contest all game🤷🏾♂️💯🤞🏾
I consider it a good shot, because youre literally taking into account of all factors of the game. IQ. Now, its on the defender to be able to close out, have Intimidator and good defensive contest. This is also why i cant rock with using a build under 6'4, that contest is terrible. All i would say is, any jumpshot that is 30% contested or higher shot not be able to green, because the defender is clearly there, but should still take into account of all the factors Mike Wang listed for the shot to still go in as a white. This is why im so highly on using Intimidator, because that shit silences a lot of this and the rare time they do hit the shot, im really not mad about it, because its just part of the game.
Well said fam, I feel the same way. It’s a part of the game. I’ve had guys hit 30s on me too…but I know I could have played better d, so I don’t trip! 💯💪
All of these are good shots if you know how to make it. Tough shots are possible in irl basketball and it’s mainey how people don’t understand that. I don’t think people understand that great offense will always triumph great defense no matter what. You can look at players like Steph or Dame or even streetballers like Hezi God hit difficult shots with very little space. That’s how the game of basketball go.
Plus, even if the defender defends the shot well and is there, if the offensive player is well within they bag and can make that shot, it’s gonna go in. There’s many of times in basketball where a shot can be well defended but the offensive player still makes the shot. Great offense>great defense.
hey love the video it helps so much, and i was wondering if you could release a face creation video, your face creations matches so well with all these different hairstyles.
Hope they worked a bit on it for 2k23 bcuz sometimes the guy don’t have his hands up but it says it’s a contest for an elite shooter even if ur there u need to have ur hands up right in their face or try to block the shot as much as u can unless it’s an open shot for them
These are the toughest shots to take. I honestly only seen one bad shot taken in the intro but it was a green so it’s a good shot imo. If you can green these shots like this and know when to take them there there isn’t a bad shot in these clips. Just gotta practice taking these shots so you know the timing and animations so you can green them. Key word is practice here which a lot of people don’t do as you can tell people still miss wide open months after the game has been out.
I agree with what your saying, but for the lock downs that have to guard the 5'9 99 speed play shots goin left and right and speed boosting. How can you contest the set shot 25 quick stop when the contesting animation is way to slow to even contest that jump shot? because the defender could be playing great defense and then the guard can just shoot the set shot 25 and make it cus the game wont let you contest it in time. I find that part of the game unfair. On top of that u have the badges like you said assisting the shooter.
The glitchy jumpshot bases are a part of the problem…they are just too fast in my opinion. Just gotta get a little more creative as a defender and dictate as opposed to reacting to the offense. Easier said than done.
It depends. For me, I could barely do that so, its a bad shot. But for you its a good shot because you have the skill to do it. You practiced a lot on your jumpshot, studied the contest system. Simple.
-kyrie Irving -steph curry -Damian lillard -Seth curry -devin booker -klay thompson -James harden -jayson tatum -Paul george -kris middleton -buddy heild -chris paul -kevin durant -Lebron James -bradley beal -demarr derozen -luka doncic -trae young -Tyler herro -jordan poole -JR smith -carmello Anthony -isaiah thomas (Celtics) -duncan Robinson -dwayne wade -reggie miller -tracy mcgrady -larry bird -Allen iverson -kareem abdul jabar -ray allen -Glen rice -dale ellis The list goes on and no this isn’t in any order it’s just particular with a great portion of people throughout certain time periods who are good at knocking down contested shots and difficult shots at a high or consistent rate no matter the height differences.
I like the current contest system in next gen (obviously it's not perfect) because it's more realistic, you constantly see guys in the league shoot shots even more contested than in 2k and still hit them
@@mystikphoenixgaming3279 I did say it wasn't perfect but just because people get a small contest doesn't mean it should doom the shot. I do think mismatch expert should go, a shorter players tradeoff for extra 3, speed, and ball handle should be that it's more likely to be a higher contest against a taller player
Some of the physics are realistic. Take KD for an example, he’ll hit smothered shots because he’s so high up the defense is hardly a factor. I feel even some smothered shots should be green-able, you just have to know your shot timing. That’s what separates a good shooter from a great shooter.
The problem with the logic is that there always needs to be a counter this is a video game that needs balancing. So if you want this tall shooter that can green smothereds then what is the counter? Have to be slow or weak or both...it makes no sense. There has to be a counter for everything and you can't just have people shooting over everyone...in real-life it happens but what is the percentage on those shots like 30-35% tops...its like a contact dunk...its sign of an elite talent but how viable is constant tough shot making and contact dunking? C'mon think real bball, how come none of these are 4 point plays, what about the ability to draw fouls? I would like to see the ability to draw fouls added into the game which is the sign of an elite scorer much more than tough shots.
To answer the question in the beginning... it just depends on scenario I don’t suggest shooting a contested shot in the beginning of the shot clock cause you can get a better shot... but if it’s late in the clock or if you desperately need a 3 and you shoot a contested 3 then obviously it’s different ..it’s all about shot iq.... now I’m ngl if I’m in a game where I’m playing with a bunch randoms and they can’t hit a shot I trust myself to hit a slightly contested shot over a trash random hitting wide open 💀
Like that shot you had on Twitter... it was a bad shot IMO because it’s early in the shot clock so you didn’t have to shoot a 35 contested.. you could of passed it to the guy at the top of the key who was open for a wide open which is a better shot
Let’s all be honest most of the time you can play good défense have the right stick up and being in front of the defender the animation will not make you put your hands up immediately. It’s not bad D it’s bad mechanics.
Exactly, especially after doing a crab to sides with Blinders badge; hands up never helps so only way to stop is jumping every time which is unrealistic & leads to fouls. Offense and offensive badges beats Defence in this game. If the defender behind you it should be good but its not ok when the defender is in front of you and you just spam Trae Young escape to each side..and remember they spam Trae Young escape after speedboosting until finding a small gap..
Since contested can drop then IMO wide open jumpers needs to miss too regardless of timing because even elite shooters miss their wide open shots so there needs to be a balance. Even in the finals we saw Curry go a whole game no three pointers...actually he goes cold from 3 often so yeah...2k needs to start adding random bricking of wide open shots
So dime I’m the dude on Twitter you quoted with a couple of the shooting over a small defender videos personally the contest system is just broken we all gone green a 35 shit I’ve hit em with a 74 3 ball but some of them just don’t be good shots idc what you say 🤷🏽♂️
This why I hate when people act like defense is ass just because the offense does have some significant advantages. Don’t get me wrong it’s part of the reason but at the same time defense is to op. Don’t get me started on the chase down blocks that people get but as far as shooting they need to tone the contest imo. They 7 footers stand at damn near the free throw line and contest 3pt shots. 5’10 mfs be having their hands down and be a decent distance away but somehow still get contest. Unless someone is just smothering u on defense when you shoot the ball if they don’t have a hand in your face that’s a open shot to me or atleast it should be 🤷♂️
Lol I had a game last season where I went to 7 ots and i was in jimmy butter mode I hit a couple contested shots to send us to 2nd and 3 ots Whet build were using when you were spotting up
And that’s gonna eliminate the left right playshot meta it only exist bcuz it was fckin up ur shot like crazy before if the defender was just breathing 5 ft from u now with the set shot 25 and sum badges u actually need to play sum real defense i noticed through the year that contested shot became easier to green
If u actually play basketball in real life, then you know that good scores can shoot contested shots, it’s what separates roles players from great players
What is the best Jumpshot for contested shots anyone in the comments feel free … would love feedback . I know nba 2k tutes said KD base is One of the best for contested shots
For me on next gen anybody with a 85 or higher 3 point should be able to shoot 30% and below contest and if they know their jumper it is a good shot when you get into the 40% contest range now it is a bad shot.
I think a bad shot is when you take a shot when the defender is already in your face wit his hands up. If you got space and know your release it's a good shot.
I have a 6’3 pg that hits stupid contested shots at least once or twice per game…too often in my opinion, shots like that should happen like once a month or something. Should be supper rare. 90 or above 3pt rating should hit 27 percent or higher contests once in a blue moon should green
The less space you need to green the more deadly you become as a shooter. It’s especially important for a off-ball shooter to know what’s an open shot and what’s not
Facts! This applies for guards who can shoot as well
Big facts!! 💯💪
I agree with a lot of what your saying but it doesn’t change the fact that the contest shot system needs some work. If your taller I feel you should get a higher contest if you time it correctly. @@dimitriclarke4296 if you had to jump to get their you most likely wouldn’t have got a contest
Mismatch expert should not be a shooting badge imo. The mismatch is in the ability to stick with the shorter players not contesting the shot.

I agree with you on that bro. This game needs a ton of work in a number of areas, as far as responsiveness goes! 💯💪
The main problem is the shots that are highly contested, hand in the face and even a jumping contest but it goes in off a slightly. Much appreciated fam, thanks for watching! 💪💯
I appreciate it fam, good luck out there! 🙌💯
Well said fam, all great points there! 💪💯
Perfectly explained you never miss I'm tired of explaining this same shit to people now I can just send them the link to your vid
🙌🙌
Ngl dime I gotta disagree with you on this one it’s no way you should be able to shoot over kawhi like that 😂🤦 intimidator suppose to trigger or sum
Intimidator will trigger, but as I said in the video…it’s going against a 99 rating and various Gold & HOF shooting badges too. 💯💪
Not going to lie those are bad shots but since your able to green them people would say that they are good shots but I’m sure you’ll be able to get open and create a better shot
@@Dimework it’s crazy i been saying this all year people have high stats threes and to make it worse the badges 😂😂😂😂 to make many shooting badges that boost ur attempts while the one defensive badge u have that helps with shot contest is prolly low on guards because guards are not putting there block up to 80 plus it makes sense y those shots fall the way the day 🤷🏾♂️
@@Dimework well if you gone say that you might as well factor in the defensive badges and ratings.
Bro y’all must don’t hoop or watch basketball niggas get eyed everyday b
I think it’s a good shot if it’s yellow cause it’s greenable, if it’s greenable then it’s a good shot to me. That is a skill difference
I agree!! 💯💪
I love playing big and lock on 2k and I definitely agree with you contested shots need to fall it complements people with good offense skills
Big facts! 💯💪
Okay Professor Dimework back in action.
Make this a series going into 23 my brother.
You already know bro! 🫡💯
Yesss Siiir! You post I'm there!
Respect fam! 🫡💯
contested shots can be good shots to me also, I think it’s some players in real life that can hit tuff shots with players in they face and three good examples I’ll give is players like Kobe, Steph, and Demar Derozan who hit shots b4 even when the defender is playing (good D) , it’s just them confident enough in they game and that comes from WORK.
In previous 2k’s there were absolutely no advantages to making an undersized player, so 90% of players made the same build and the game would be stale.
your videos are goated bro
I appreciate that bro! 💪💯
I’m not really 100% on this. I personally would not recommend anybody play this game to look for shots like these. Dime you’re a great player but if I’m running with casuals or average players this is not the shots I want them trying to take. And that’s pretty much more than half of the community.
Man when yo team be crowding you gone have to make some tough shot makers shots
I feel you fam, you definitely want to look for “the best” shot, and not settle for a tough one. 💯💪
I agree with you that elite shooters should be able to hit mildly contested shots… however, I don’t agree with that perspective in 2k specifically, just because bums can create builds with 99 3pt rating and get bailed out.
What 2K needs to do is ;
These rec randoms man 🤦♂️
🤦🏽♂️ you can’t make it up bro, these dudes are sick 🤣
my problem is the consistency. elite scorers always overpower elite defenders in the game because offense is so highly favored. the frequency of contested shots going in on elite defenders is crazy.
Man what’s the dribble sigs for that build at 2:50
I feel like offensive badges overpower defensive badges
It’s probably debatable but I wouldn’t say that. 💪💯
I agree with a lot of what your saying but at some point the 2k community have to stop being so offensive minded.
Everyone knows that you need high perimeter defense when guarding the perimeter rights. Please explain to me why do I need blocks to unlock intimidator.
Intimidator attributed rating requirements.
54.B
65.S
81.G
95.H
And keep in mind that your block tight to your wingspan a max wingspan 6’3 guard get a 68 block rating. Also remember that you delayed on defense.
It’s only a bad shots attempt only when you force it knowing that you gonna miss
I just can’t figure out if the animations for the shot is faster or ur jumpshot is faster when getting contested
Dime work gonna make ya shine work 🐐🐐
🔥🔥🔥
My build is a 6’3 max wingspan sharp lock, I play predominantly on ball and hash lock. PG’s barely can get a good shot off on me UNLESS they get a screen. Now some of the PG’s would hit a 15-38% contest on me but I can live with that. As long as I had a decent contest, I know I was playing decent defense and had a decent position to effect the shot. I’ll never discredit a great shooter
Well said fam, that’s a reasonable way to look at it! 💯💪
Where is the Video of this 6'8" build?
It’s in the “Three Best Shot Creator Builds” video on my channel.
As in real life, the good shot is the one you practice. You put in the work to be able to take and make those
I’m pretty sure we played random rec last night together, that game was like a cartoon, I was tripping on shrooms and other than you the team was bums 😭😭 almost got beat by 3 ai
Bro Kobe mj praised for making shot like these we all want builds that play like those niggas but the community only want to play like curry not have to go against someone who plays like curry this a great vid bruh this community is delusional bro
That’s facts bro, a lot of inconsistency in the community! 💯💪
I think I need to watch this video again💯
I’m glad dime broke this down the good ones know how 2k works
💪💯
Hey Dime, I’ve been watching you for a while but still have been wondering how to get into rec. I don’t want to throw from the start so I was wondering if you can show each individual role(center point, etc) ms how to play them
That is a good shot bro keep up with your work
Thanks bro! 🙏🏽
its neither good or bad ITS JUST A DECENT SHOT💯🤷🏾♂️a light contest is GREENABLE but jus because it is greenable doesnt mean it is GOOD SHOT because even if u have a 99 n u cold asf at the game u cant CONSISTENTLY hit those 30% contest at the same clip as a open shot💯🤷🏾♂️a good shot is a CONSISTENT BUCKET DAMN NEAR EVERY TIME whereas these light contest can go in SOMETIMES ur not gone shoot 10/11 off 30% contested shots all game💯at the right time a yellow contest can be a SMART shot but it isnt a GOOD SHOT and u dont wanna be pullin yellow contest all game🤷🏾♂️💯🤞🏾
I feel you on that fam, well said! 💪💯
Yeahh i see what you fam but you gotta look at it like 30% of an 100 it’s not a big contest
This made me relook at the contest totally different
Good to hear fam!
No lies told fam! Thanks for watching! 💯💪
hey love the video it helps so much, and i was wondering if you could release a face creation video, your face creations matches so well with all these different hairstyles.
Thanks fam, I use my face scan so I can’t do a face creation.
@@Dimework thought so, but thankyou anyway keep up the videos man
Any gameplay coming soon. ?
💯💯💯
Camera settings?
2K camera on a high zoom and low height not sure the exact numbers
Well done video....salute!
I appreciate it fam! 🫡💯
Dime what's your jumper? Such a high release?
Lamarcus Aldridge 🔥
@@Dimework Appreciate it
It depends. For me, I could barely do that so, its a bad shot. But for you its a good shot because you have the skill to do it. You practiced a lot on your jumpshot, studied the contest system. Simple.

Exactly, I feel like Beluba is trying to be true to the game. 💪💯
Aye slick I fw this can you give me the breakdown on dribbling to a newbie so I can be a Gawd or as least somehow to improve everyday
I like the current contest system in next gen (obviously it's not perfect) because it's more realistic, you constantly see guys in the league shoot shots even more contested than in 2k and still hit them
The difference is this is a game
@@mystikphoenixgaming3279 I did say it wasn't perfect but just because people get a small contest doesn't mean it should doom the shot. I do think mismatch expert should go, a shorter players tradeoff for extra 3, speed, and ball handle should be that it's more likely to be a higher contest against a taller player
What’s your jumper?
I use Base 3. 💪
Some of the physics are realistic. Take KD for an example, he’ll hit smothered shots because he’s so high up the defense is hardly a factor. I feel even some smothered shots should be green-able, you just have to know your shot timing. That’s what separates a good shooter from a great shooter.
I agree!!!
There’s no need for explanation, ifykyk ! Every 2k it’s possible to even green 100% with perfect execution.
& believe it or not because of the “comp” “meta” play style some don’t know how crucial it gets 🌚
Love the videos but would you use the same logic on current gen?
I never played current gen so I can’t speak on the mechanics/functions of that game.
If your hitting the shot without selling by chucking until you hit one it’s a good shot in my book
Just curious but what’s the sigs your using with this build?
Does having sharp take help you to shoot more contested shots?
Spot Up Precision might, I know it did last year…this year it isn’t as distinguishable but I’m sure there’s still a similar effect.
Idk about good or bad, all I know is if I shoot those same shots, them shits ain’t droppin 😂
😭😭🤣🤣💀💀
😂😂😂
W video your goated
Thanks g! 💪💯
It's not broken. I just hate seeing people taking 100% smothered lol
I haven’t seen a 100% smothered green this year. It was definitely possible in 2K21 Next Gen though. 💯💪
What’s yo release and blending bro?
70/30 Lamarcus Luka
Unless someone is just smothering u on defense when you shoot the ball if they don’t have a hand in your face that’s a open shot to me or atleast it should be 🤷♂️
Lol I had a game last season where I went to 7 ots and i was in jimmy butter mode I hit a couple contested shots to send us to 2nd and 3 ots
Whet build were using when you were spotting up
💪🔥 Good shit fam. I was probably using my 6’8 shot creator.

5:27 kawhi is there but he isnt THERE THERE.

If u actually play basketball in real life, then you know that good scores can shoot contested shots, it’s what separates roles players from great players
I think they should lower the percentage of contest from proximity contest

What is the best Jumpshot for contested shots anyone in the comments feel free … would love feedback . I know nba 2k tutes said KD base is One of the best for contested shots
Nah good shot especially after breaking it down to the T like that 🎯🎯🎯
💯💪
For me on next gen anybody with a 85 or higher 3 point should be able to shoot 30% and below contest and if they know their jumper it is a good shot when you get into the 40% contest range now it is a bad shot.
Bro I just played with u, my name was DON WORK 937. They kicked me out the game 🤦🏾🤦🏾, I was pissed cause I was hype to play with u, good stuff tho 💪🏾
Do u have green animations off?
Yeah I have the green splash off. 💯
I think a bad shot is when you take a shot when the defender is already in your face wit his hands up. If you got space and know your release it's a good shot.

Ayee! 💪🫡
I firmly believe it’s not good for a video game such as this that contested perimeter shots go in consistently.
I have a 6’3 pg that hits stupid contested shots at least once or twice per game…too often in my opinion, shots like that should happen like once a month or something. Should be supper rare. 90 or above 3pt rating should hit 27 percent or higher contests once in a blue moon should green
