Lancia Delta HF Integrale 16V Proto: Accelerations & Great Sounding 2.0L Turbo Engine!

- This video is about a monstrous Lancia Delta HF Integrale 16V I recorded last year during a Varano Rally Krono event, which is a little winter series held at Varano de' Melegari race track, in Italy. It's a mixture between a Formula Challenge race and a 3-laps rally special stage repeated three times during the day. A passenger or co-driver is mandatory.
This Delta has been tuned and modified for these kind of races with quick and brief accelerations, so it's also suitable for slaloms. It's driven by Ivan Cavani who has improved and perfected it over the years. The engine maintain the original 2.0-litre displacement but thanks to various mods (forged pistons and rods, a specifically designed crankshaft, RC Racing injectors, a Turbonetics Performance turbocharger) it's now able to produce around 500hp with a pressure of over 1.5 bar. The Delta has also been lightened and it should now weigh around 1,100 kgs. Last but not least, the original manual gearbox has been replaced by a 6-speed sequential gearbox by Zanghellini.

What an absolute beast, love it! These are a very rare sight, especially on UK roads as most seem to have rotted away due to our terrible weather. Lancias in general weren't exactly a common sight when i first started driving in 1991. I almost bought a 1.6 Delta as my first car as i knew of one going super cheap. The car was maybe 6 or 7 years old and being sold for (if my memory serves me?) £400/500. I even got my dad to check it out with me as i was so interested as it would have made for a very quirky first car. Alas, even at that age (and with pretty low mileage from what i remember) it was in terrible condition with major rust covering the underside of the car. I had noticed the extensive exterior rust (all wheel arches, bonnet, tailgate, wings and quarters, in fact every panel had rust!) but just loved the looks of it. I didn't buy it and it ended up in the scrapyard not too long after.
Lol Id say it was a Fiat Ritmo you were looking at Lol Ive have plenty of Deltas in my time from 1300 up to Integrales and never had much trouble with rust the odd car had small bits of rust on the boot door rear arches
@@MOSSFEEN maybe it was a particularly bad example but i remember my dad rolling his eyes when i said it was a Lancia. Before we even checked it out he said it would have a good engine, be sporty but be rotten. This was very early 90s and Lancias were a pretty rare sight (although you obviously used to see Integrales) in Essex.
