This is my favorite way to connect Capture to GrandMA2. I like this method because it works for all system configurations. This works if you're using a console, an onPC session, on a macbook, etc. You don't need to use Artnet, CITP, or sACN to control Capture, just link it to the MA session that you’re probably already using. I’ve been doing it this way for over four years with no issues.
Keep in mind that you MUST have parameters in order control Capture. This is a limitation of the MA2 system. Please don't complain to me about this, since I didn't make the policy.

Good day! I recently joined the industry on the corporate side (business talks, government meetings, unions, charities, etc) and instantly wanted to do light. That's how one of my colleagues recommended me your channel. I was wondering if you had resources or places you'd recommend me to look at to get more knowledge? experience will come with time but if i have spare time I'd want to use it smartly to get better at my job. Hiya, @Christian. I'm looking to learn how to use and manipulate 3d Lighting, via Visualization Software to support my DJ streams. Most of my DJ streams are recorded... but I want to add postproduction lighting as a background. In your opinion, what Lighting Visualization Software should I use? Thanks.
Thanks for the video. A pity that MA hasn't decided to make available a 'visualizer mode' for MA onPC without unlocked universes. ETC EOS / Nomad shows a way which works fine; the unlicensed sACN/ARTNET output works well enough for the visualizer, while frequent random glitches in the output protect ETC against people using an unlicensed Nomad for real shows.
Unfortunately there were people who abused the ma system early on and ruined it for the rest of us. Who knows, we may have had a visualization driver like wysiwyg but ma locked down really hard on parameters when counterfeit hardware / hacking manet was a thing. Going forward, viz key will help with ma3. Not a perfect solution and still annoying we can’t just visualize everything for free, I know.
Ah, the viz-key I didn't know about, thanks for bringing that up. At a price somewhere between a secondhand 1K node and a 0.5K node... Sounds like that's an ok solution for someone who's already in the MA world. Myself, I'll hold off for now. Maybe, once the established rentals are running MA3 and have a couple of viz-keys lying around ...

Does capture limit you based on universes or parameters like MA?
What happened to the loopback adapter. didn't it use to work with 127.0.0.1. I can't figure out how to get the ON PC wing to see capture on the same machine.

I have parameters, and followed the video, but i dont get it working in capture, what did i miss, do i need to change something in capture? Change something with the fixtures or do something in the patch? Can someone help

Can someone help me? i got a question: i haven't got the option with Capture on my Mac, i got "LasergraphDSP" and the next option is "NDI" i have only the trialversion not brought it yet. Does the option come with the vull version, or is it a option that does not work on Mac?

so whatever i do, if i don't pay for any hardware from MA2 i will have nothing output from the console to any viz (except for MA 3D) i was wondering, is the exclusivity with wysiwyg still valid ? i remember i can connect MA2 to wysiwyg without any hardware (i don't know if it still work for the R46)
MA lighting decided to restrict access to ma2 params to protect their IP. There are third party visualizers that had pre-existing agreements before their policy changed and that’s why some viz have free params.
Tbh, ma3D is a pretty great completely free visualizer.... with all parameters unlocked and two way comms

Begs the question will this workflow work with MA3? Obvs with parameters unlocked etc. Not really looked at the Viz Key yet but I assume that would unlock parameters or you could just have a console to hand.

Sure. All you need is parameters. I’m just unlocking them using the nsp. As I mentioned in the video, there are many other pieces of hardware that unlock parameters.
