HI. hanks for the great video. i just noticed you mentioned that the Chamsys visualizer does not allow the import of other objects. perhaps i have a later version from the time of this video. but the Chamsys visualizer actually does allow the insertation of objects like staging, truss people and instruments and the likes.
This really helped me more understand other software to help me better my skills in lighting. I am coming from more of a animation background and try to understand how to bring these to worlds together for myself and learning more software is always a plus.
I just started using L8 Media and I have to say importing from vectorworks has been a struggle and correcting the patch has to be one light at a time. This is terrible if you have 250 lights. On the positive side it looks very nice for a reasonable price(for professional use). Two big advantages are visualizing video screen content with the lighting and the ability to easily video record what's being seen on the screen and send mp4 files to clients. .... (Of course the holy grail of a visualizer would be to be Able to visualize on board macro effects of lights).
@@User-cl8mn It took about a week to go from eastern Europe to Las Vegas. (That was a couple of weeks ago) On import half of my fixtures are getting substituted for the wrong fixtures, (conventional are turning into studio spots as well as other random fixture type swaps). Almost the entire rig is getting patched to universe 4 and fixture modes are all wrong. Maybe I'm doing something wrong or possibly L8 is making best guess changes where it doesn't recognize my lights. I don't know.
@@llibressal have you by chance posted it on the Facebook group? I’m actually browsing and reading posts right now and noticed their team is pretty good with helping people. And good to know about your shipping. I’m in Indiana. Funny enough going to Vegas next week tho for a lighting event.
Maybe a silly question, but I'm just wanting to use one of these programs to figure out what my limitations will be with the possibility of purchasing different lights. Specifically, I'm wondering about comparing the illuminance of different lights to one another. Would you say any (or all) of these applications are accurate in depicting the differences between how powerful different lights are in this area?
The accuracy of Capture or Depence is pretty high. BUT - the information is only as good as what is input from the manufacturer, and it's just not that accurate. It's ballpark, most of the time it's close, but not always.
Hi, I just started learning l8e, what console would you recommend to start using with the software, I’ll probably will get a used small size console because of my budget and because doesn’t make sense to invest all the money there instead of improving my fixtures. I just wanted to learn to do things like the professionals do. I want to be able to program my scenes without connecting all the fixtures in my garage. Thank you! I’ll appreciate any advice.
hey, i want to recreate michael jackson's dangerous tour stage with lights and pyros, what is the best software that i can build a stage or import from blender, put lights and pyros and control it live (i mean live, not like an animation, ill be controling lights and pyros in real time)
I am using onyx in this video, but that doesn't mean it's the only console or that it's what you need. Any console that I cover here can be used with l8 via networked dmx
Can I use the Chamsys Visualizer on Vista 3? Is there another visualizer you recommend for vista 3? I'm looking to spend less then $100, i just care about viewing the lights. Thanks
Depence² is extremly good but for the specification I'd want it's 6100€!!! I'm struggling getting a new 1400€ pc already and then I would have to spend more than 4 times the price on a spftware I'd just use as a hobby to mess around and do some cool stuff? They don't even offer a student version to indiciduals... Pretty sad because I also enjoyed Realizzer a lot and it was sooo much better than anything else I tried and Depence² brings in even more features that I always wished would exist like that.
@@StonewolfStudios I know, but the modules I'd want is Stage (1,900€), Special FX (1,500€), Animate (1,900€) and Laser (800€). I don't even have a pc yet and the pc I wanna build for myself costs a bit less than 1,400€ and I need about a half year to just get this pc which I can use for many things. But then getting a software with which I wouldn't earn any money and which I would just use to mess around since it's the best of it's kind for 6,100€ just seems a bit much. Every module except the Laser module would cost more than my whole pc in general. I asked the support if they have an education version which is maybe limited but costs a bit lower, more affordable price for a student but they just give those versions to schools and stuff, not individual students.
Is it any software in which you can easily design lighting shows like in SunliteSuite3? I learnt it when I was studying lighting but Its giving me problems and I wanted to make some portfolio lighting show content...
Yep, and that is the problem with Sunlite/Daslight/MyDMX/others (they are all the same program, under different names). These visualizers are all great options!
Quick question to anyone if I ha e my laptop and it has ONYX on it can I connect my laptop to a desk and send dmx through the laptop to the desk to lights and if so how?
*Googles Depence Stage Lighting Module, *Sees cost ($2,375), *Closes laptop

Capture&Magicvis is the way to go
David - great video, very informative. I'm looking forward to the second part.

How long did it take to get your dongle? I just ordered mine today. What about importing from vectorworks is struggling?

I'm using dmxis thanks to your tutorials. Which visualizer do you recommend I use with it?
How do i learn to use a lightning console without having one? I have a laptop
Great Video man. According to your experience, what do you recommend for mobile dj, something not to fancy or complicated that do the job... Thanks
Just set up your lights in a room or garage. It's cheaper and more accurate than a visualizer for a small setup
Cual se consigue para Mac?
If I want to learn how to use any lighting console
Are there any visualizers that take a DMX input where you can run cues and see what your show might look like?
All current Visualizers do that via Physical DMX or Artnet/Sacn which we use in our videos and scenarios.

Do any of these render transparent video/alpha ? For example, to use in a front scene of a faux stage scene.
Capture can for sure. Not sure if the others can do this specifically.

You dont have to buy the full deoendce package. The lighting module is about the same as realizzer was.
