I honestly think there's too many ninja mains in the game right now, they were there when I was dungeoning, they were there while i was doing the trials and they were there when i was doing my bloody msq. and all of them were cutting onions. ;_;

I actually teared up a bit. I never really found Meteion to be evil, and seeing her break down and remember Hermes' words cut a bit deep.

That scene broke me, my throat was dry and the flood gates opened. Such a real, human moment that we all may have experienced at one time or another. Endwalker is a story I think more people need to experience.

It's absolutely bonkers to look back and think that perhaps the reason Hydaelyn has urged us (seemingly endlessly) to "Hear... Feel... Think..." is so that we would be the ideal hope-receptacle for a despair-damaged little entelechy and her sisters one day.

Yes. It became apparent to me that the connection to the Mothercrystal was quite significant. It came full circle.
These elpis blooms serve as proof this realm is not utterly devoid of hope. No more can you deny its power. No more is yours the dominion of despair.

This song was playing when I got to the part in the credits where the scions walk past Venat and the boys. It made the whole thing hit completely different.
Its what was intended..but people skip or speed up the credits. I let it roll as well and it was worth every tear shed

I took a picture of the final drawing. Seeing Hermes smiling made me cry.

"Deep, dark, far away I have heard your voice..." Why does that one line always cause me to choke up?!
I have a hypothesis about meteion. The reason she only found dead / despearing world wasn't because that's all that was out there. Instead the first one or several worlds happened to be like that by chance but then her means of travel was through dynamis which is influenced by emotion. Also Hermes intentionaly neglected her upbringing teaching her not of the earth so as not to bind her not helping things. With her only means of travel influenced by emotion neglected upbringing and finding such tradgedy at the begining of her journey, the only paths dynamis could take her in such despair lead only to more.
That and since she was so influenced by those negative emotions she passed them onto those worlds she travelled to that hadn’t completely lost it yet, like someone spreading a virus or something, and falling into a constant self sustaining feedback loop.
So something that kind of lends credence to this comes from what the term enteleky means... The actual irl term is entelechy which is the realisation of potential or perfection of a thing or person. So you're pretty likely on the nose. Hermes tried to create the perfect being to answer his question, however his method was flawed in both the question asked, and the upbringing he gave her. Ironically, it could be argued that meteion had it right when she called us an entelechy as we have reached our full potential and through us she is able to learn what she needed to reach hers.
Also it seems to me that the only way a whole world could be entirely united in anything, nevermind a suicidal depression, is if dynamis works in a way that can spread it like a virus.
@@TheAkashicTraveller well as was seen, it kinda does. The Devs clearly like playing with IRL concepts with their fantasy elements (dynamis is literally darkmatter, right down to the 68.3% consistency). But from psychology, humanity tends to be empathetic in a way where emotions pass between people very quickly, it's how mass hysteria works, bigger the group easier it is to induce panic. So any dynamis reaction like the grandmother's would just cause a cascade in a matter of moments.j

The scene at the end when the emet/hyth create the elpis flowers was the most poignant for me

Yo I was kinda expecting some badass magic trick, like summoning our friends, but that??? was sooooo much better
I played that scene at like 2 am after powering through the entire MSQ over the past three days. I was exhausted and emotionally drained by all that came before. And that moment was...perfect. One of the most satisfying experiences I've ever had playing a game. What a beautiful moment and a beautiful game!
The thing is the flowers are of your making. Emet pretty much says imagine the path to her nest and we will create it. your warrior of light tho rather tried to save meteion and hope that it gives them a path in than just want a path to their nest. The WoL was literally pulling a gamble atleast that's how i interpret it.
Every expansion has had an emotional reprise like this and this is the one that had me breaking down like a baby. How dare you Soken.
I couldn't stop crying either. It was truly wonderful and memorable.

I'm not sure when Soken wrote these versions, but after all he's been through with battling cancer, this song hits so hard with the piano and Amanda's vocals, along with the choir she's with. It's a song of hope, tender and pure. I think it might be two of the most beautiful songs he has ever composed. Truly a masterpiece.
That's really great, Soken! It left a strong impression on our hearts.
Iirc he made music in 5.3 while in hospital. it hits even more when you realise that while he was battling cancer in real life, G'raha literally was dying of crystal cancer in the story 😭
i started tearing up when the lyrics hit. this was one of my all time favorite expansions. I absolutely fell in love with Meteion. she was such an adorable character and i am so happy that at the very end, she could smile and felt the warmth of hope once again.
I feel the same way.

Such a beautiful story. One which has ended, yet paved the way for so much more. Heads up, clear your tears, and spread your wings to fly beyond that distance. We carry a fire in our hearts that will never die.

P.S. To all who miss Meteion, remember that the Dead Ends dungeon can drop a Starbird minion that looks like Meteion's bird form. She will never leave us, because she's in our hearts, as much as we are in hers.
And in the post-credit cutscene, you can see Meteion flying around Mor Dhona

I famed that bird like crazy got her too. Aslong as they don't do anything il just headcanon it is meteion and I'm showing her what the world has to show that there is a lot more to our world
I'll never forget that moment in the nothingness after the trial. When you hold her hand, and she gets that rush of emotion from all the people the WoL has in their heart. While I didn't think it was the intention, in that moment, to those words I relived every moment I had in my time with the game. Been playing since 2.0 and I've met alot of people. Alot of moments I hadn't thought about since they happened came rushing back. Some with old FC members who've passed away, old friends, or just random conversations I've had with other players. It was a surreal experience, I have never felt like that in my life. I'll never forget this expansion, and the impact it had on me emotionally.
I can relate to this very well. I've been an adventurer in the world of Eorzea for several years now, and I've made a lot of memories. I've been an adventurer in the world of Eorzea for a few years now, and I've made a lot of memories: happy ones, sad ones, fun ones, and ones that gave me courage. These feelings are important to me and will continue to be so in the future. Even though we come from different countries, cultures, and languages, we are all the same people living in this world.

When Emet-Selch covered the ground in Elpis flowers and this song started playing, and you just see Meteion break at the sight... That hit me really hard. Maybe even harder than everything else in Ultima Thule. A millennium of despair shattered by an overwhelming symbol of hope. Absolutely incredible.
I was not expecting to get teary-eyed when I decided to listen to this again.

I think it's when the strings kick in that gets me. I have this clear memory of her, Meteion, stood in that field of Elpis flowers. Falling to her knees as we hear Herme's promise of the gift of a flower. It got me SO bad.

The thing that gets me is that Meteion clearly, very quickly, realizes the beauty in the world, and her stoic feeling-less facade breaks away the very moment the flowers appear, and then out comes the lovable little blue bird whose happiness is contagious, and she's crying...

I've yet to see a dry eye over that scene with Meteion and the snapped flower. If you know, you know. I remember going "oh it seems they're going there? Oh oh wow" like I sorta saw it from a mile away but such a fun callback to earlier line and the music and such was so well done.
Overall they've done great with that. The combo of music and what's going on. Reminds me of hearing Gondor's main theme in a faint distant tone when Boromir was dying and then, years later IRL when Return of the King arrived, we heard the full Gondor theme. That stuff is so cool.

I was feeling apathetic for Meteion after realizing she's the true cause of the final days,thus the sunderring and everything and I kinda stopping caring about her evil depressing monologues about how she want to cause this despair and all kinds of nonsense just to prove a point and something she doesn't understand.All i ever had in mind is to take her down for good...
Then the moment,Emit gave exactly what Hermes wanted for Meteion,A Flower and then this music plays right after...All those Apathetic feeling were gone in an instant and were replaced with the wholesome aww moments of hers,a positive warm feeling and i just can't help by to feel sorry and be forgiving for Meteion..
Meteion,For all the things she's done is just purely induced out of curiosity and were out of her control and at the end of the day all she ever wanted...is a Friend.
I Swear only Final Fantasy can make you feel sorry and weep for a Depressed Intergalactic Destroyer of everything.
To be fair, Meteion was - for all intents and purposes - a confused and hurting child who still has a whole life ahead of her. How was she to know what her sisters would find out there? How was she to know just how much it would affect her and all she held dear? As far as I'm concerned, the ever-curious and childishly innocent Meteion and the depressed, borderline clinically insane intergalactic destroyer that was Endsinger are two entirely different beings who couldn't possibly be any more different in and of themselves. As far as I'm concerned, there's not really anything to forgive. Meteion was and will always be our friend. Maybe even a little sister, am I right?
I have to wait til close to the end of February to purchase the soundtrack 🥲

We see her at the end in her bird form. I've seen theories about how she will be the new 'child character' that we will lead on their growth(think Alphinaud, Alisaie and Ryne). I'm inclined to agree, especially after the part where the flowers appear and Hermes voice tells her, in inexact words because I don't remember completely, that she will meet people on her journey that will guide her and teach her how to walk.
So, long story short, yes i do think she is alive :)
The wiki says she is and you see her fly to look around the world at the end of EW so i am like 99% sure she is :D
