When making the movie, Tom being added was just a silly joke, but they liked it so much, they started looking into getting his picture in the movie for real. In the end, to get around licensing, they actually called Tom, told him about the movie, and offered him the role of Cornelius. His response was “Yeah, I can do that.” And so, it all began, with a joke they didn’t wanna let go of.

Meet the Robinsons is one of Disney's most underrated films! There's a lot of characters this movie introduces, but I find them to be very likable and hilarious. I find the villain the be very interesting and he has a lot of funny moments. I was also kinda surprised by the twist involving him. Yes, the "Keep Moving Forward" motto may get tiring as if we didn't get it the first time, but it's still a great message.
Another neat little Easter egg: if you pay really close attention to the sounds in the opening scene, and the scene where Lewis goes back in time to see his mom, you'd realize that they actually sync up perfectly, in that Lewis was the noise that spooks his mom, as well as the one who knocked on the door in the beginning, after he'd already done everything.
Not really a disney classic but I agree it will never get old. Same with chicken little which was also a disney animated film around that time. They have their funny moments that make them all worth it. I wouldnt say they are master pieces but they are definitely under rated. They are meme worthy movies that are better used watching clips than watching an entire movie.
About the "I'm always right." quote: Before Lewis goes back in time, Franny tells Wilbur she knows Kung fu. The dinner scene in the future shows she was right.
Edgar Allen Poe was rejected as a writer over 90 times before being published. I often wonder what makes a person keep going and not just die on the inside? This movie illustrates the need to just keep going.
Two of my kiddos are adopted and this was the movie we showed them to discuss adoption when they were super little to give context so it has a special place for me

What a great movie, it got me really emotional at a time that I was so lacking in emotion and feeling when watching films. It's got beautiful messages slathered in hilarious jokes and gags. And the message to Keep moving forward, its just what many people need.
this was one of my fav movies from my childhood! it doesn't get the appreciation it deserves which is sad because it's truly so good. Watching it the first time I did not connect that Lewis is Wilbur's father and he's in the Robinson family. (granted i was probably way too little to connect it lol) However now YOU CAN see all the hints to it and I think it's sweet how he wrote "see you later dad" in the sky
Your ending discussion reminded me of one of my favorite quotes “ There’s no such thing as a painless lesson; they just don’t exist. Sacrifices are necessary. You can’t gain anything without losing something first. Although, if you can endure that pain and walk away from it, you’ll find that you now have a heart strong enough to overcome any obstacle…. @@nicktechnubyte1184 the "wokeness" isn't the reason new Disney animations have been bad, it's just the straight up bad writing and uninspiredness
Tom Selleck actually plays Lewis in the future, so the "Cornelius" joke works on two levels.
When making the movie, Tom being added was just a silly joke, but they liked it so much, they started looking into getting his picture in the movie for real.
