Seal Saved From Bundle Of Fishing Line

- As seen and explained by Naude, this fishing line has probably entangled multiple animals before this one. Many marine animals are killed out of sight by ghost fishing gear each year. We are fortunate to have seals and other animals who make it to the beach with such trash and show us the state of our oceans. However, we are certain the situation is far worse than what we see on the surface. Time is running out!

You not only saved this pregnant seal and her unborn pup, you saved countless others by removing this bundle of line from the ocean permanently. Thanks, team!🦭🌊♻️👏
Cleaning up the oceans 1 seal at a time!
The best team!
It must be such a relief when she can finally take a deep breath! Thank you, I'm so glad you spotted her!❤️
Not even a Thank you! Just affronted seal running for the water. Well....WE thank you Team OCN for all you do!! Two lives saved here if she is pregnant! So Thank You TWICE!!
She seemed to express her thanks, especially after she could actually breathe when the line was cut. You are such heroes...
When the seal was captured Tony said "You're fine now" knowing what was about to happen. It was another great result of the work OCN does. Much respect❤
Hi all!
The pregnant seal can finally breathe, giving her baby a better chance of survival. Watching the rescuers work is very cool! But it’s a shame that they have so much work to do.

May 1st!
THANK YOU so much for saving this Mother to be! Without OCN's dedication and hard work, she may have had issues giving birth and the ability to nurse her pups coming very soon!
Just when Big Mama needed help the most, OCN delivers.
Two lives saved in one fell swoop and that bundled death trap will never again hurt or kill another animal. A very productive morning. Thank you OCN!
If that beautiful seal is not the line's first victim, at least she's its last. Thank you❤
🙂👍
What a beautiful mama! Thank you!!!
Thank you for saving this mom to be, caught this garbage just in time.
Thank you!🙏🏻❤️👍
So glad you were able to remove this before her pup was born! Thanks guys!
👍
Not suprised she expanded so much having a growing baby bump, so glad you were there for them both. Thankyou OCN. 🤗💝🏴
My heartfelt thank you, I cannot explain how much I admire you guys and gals for what you do.m just imagine how she would have struggled to give birth with that tight line covering her body.
Dear guys of OCN, thanks a lot for rescuing and helping this poor pregnant seal. You are really very good seal whisperers and their angels in rescuing them all. May God bless you and your families. Please stay healthy and well and please keep on going to help them further on for a long time. Together with my cats I send you my best wishes from Bavaria to Namibia and wish you a happy and successful week. 🙏👍🐞🍀🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾❣❤❤❤❤❤🌞🌹🌻🌼🌷⚘🥀🌺
NYC one ❤ to you'll ..you are amazing my Gs..
Damn momma that was alot of crap on your body. You will feel so much better. Nice seeing a vid with Wally.
Gracias! Saludos desde España 🇪🇸🙋🏻♀️💙🧒🏻🦭🦭🦭
So glad the team could save another seal, especially one that was expecting. Thank you all.❤❤❤
👍
Thanks for saving that seal.
Thanks for saving that pup.
I’m glad the numbers reveal
Your subs keep going up!
I’m so glad you caught her and helped her. I imagine keeping your newborn out of your plastic straps probably isn’t a parenting skill that would come natural to any species of momma, thank you for your important work.
The Hero's are saving the seals from needless suffering, not death. Everything living will die in the passage of time.
Her two big breaths after cutting the two tight lines was heartwarming to see. Thank you to the entire OCN Team for every seal you rescue from those dangerous entanglements.
🙂👍
Instant relief. She did say thank you ❤
Thank you my heroes for saving her ❤️ greetings to all 😊🙋🏼
Good job guys❤ you just saved two generations❤🎉
I am glad there are three of you. Safety in numbers. Lucky seal.
🙂👍
Thank you.
Bless you, grace you, happy international workers' day in advance.
Grazie 🦭👍🤙
Thank you so much!
Not just one life saved but two! 🙂🏴
🙂👍
Dziękujemy niezmiennie i teraz podwójnie😂😂❤❤🇵🇱👋👍
Thank you for helping her. ❤OCN
💗💗 Thank You OCN 💗💗
I look forward to your posts every morning! Much love from the USA,
Thanks Guys
👍
A Big Thank You 🇦🇺 💚💚💚💚
Thanks guys.
always good to see the old team together, you guys do good work
Words of wisdom from Naude “you can catch a small seal in a big net but you can’t catch a big seal in a small net” Always a good idea to be prepared for that extra something that can be thrown at you. Well done gentlemen!
🦭🌊💙
Just a quick pit stop for mama. Thanks guys. Missing Wally forever.
thank you so much!
Very tight line! You saved two lives at the same time, mom and puppy in her belly 💞🦭💞. Thank you men, and Wally also 😊👋.
she must have felt soooo much better with the line being cut.
Indeed 🙂
great to see the new donation feature bring you guys some financial support. You guys earned it. keep up the good work
Thank again darling's, we love what you do.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Our efforts are just a drop in the bucket compared to the millions of tonnes of trash entering the world's oceans every year.
We are unfortunately not solving the problem, but only treating the symptoms of the plastic crisis with our rescues. These videos aim to show the consequences of this pollution and create a change to tackle its roots - namely our addiction to single-use plastics, the lack of law enforcement at sea, and the shortcomings of the recycling industry.
Imagine giving birth without anesthetics *and* a noose around your neck...
Thank you to Team OCN for saving her!! 💙🖤🤍
I like fishing, ever since been watching you all, I definitely have to be extremely careful about fishing line.
Thank you for rescuing this seal.
Uau!!!
I don't see why people throw that stuff out in the ocean. We fish in the lake and never throw anything in the water. We have a bag we put our trash and fishing line in and throw it away when we get home. People are ruining our planet! Great job on doi g what you're doing! ❤
❤Team OCN 👍😎✊
Double trouble for mom and pup! Good you got to mom before the snoek line did any damage. Great save, you guys! 🦭😇💕😊👍
👍
Great work as always folks!! 👍👍
Missing this wonderful team!! Maybe some day you guys will be together again 🙏🏻
Muy buen rescate. Ahora podra tener su bebé y disfrutarlo. Gracias OCN
❤
❤❤❤
Great seeing you do this wonderful work. I think I'll get me a T-shirt ... I wish I could do more.
I'm breathing now. She has her life back.
🙂👍
Well done guys 👏
This is a skill we wish we never had to develop, but we are unfortunately very experienced by now.
AWESOME! You guys saved her for sure!
How close can you get to a group of seals if you drive slow?
The seals will run away before we can get close enough. If we drive fast, we can catch the seals by surprise, giving us a chance to rescue the entangled seal.
🦭🌊💙TY OCN!
🇺🇦❤️🙏Thank you very much Team OCN. Good job.

Snook line, the horror that just keeps giving. 😳🇨🇦😳
❤❤❤❤❤
Amazing work as always! You guys are great!
This is a skill we wish we never had to develop, but we are unfortunately very experienced by now.
I just can't help but think the seals are slowly learning the OCN means them no harm and are, in fact, helping them. I noticed how a group of them seemed to be watching from a distance, perhaps observing and even waiting for the cow to be released; that enough of them have seen the improvement after they have been captured and released to know that something good is happening. Before anyone thinks I'm some kind of Disney-esque / Bambi nut, I'm not. I actually worry when wild animals begin to have faith in people or look on people as no threat. Because, we all know, that for every good person who does want to help, there are others who are not. It's better that they remain wary. Sad, but better for them.
💕
Great job guys
This is a skill we wish we never had to develop, but we are unfortunately very experienced by now.
Being highly pregnant, this seal needed to be able to hunt and fatten up before giving birth to her pup. Thanks guys, for making sure she could, thus saving her and her pup's life.💕🦭
And now, that bundle of trash won't hurt anyone ever again!
It really is sobering to consider that one line can go on from victim to victim. 😒
👍👍👍👍👍💕💕💕💕💕
❤❤❤❤❤ WELL DONE!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Those ropes really are a great idea.
🙂👍
She looked like a butterfly coming out of a chrysalis
Gooooooood job
Good to get that serial killer out of the water. Thank you for saving mom and baby. ❤❤❤
👍
It wasn't that line's first victim, but it was its last.
Sorry, I have just commented something very similar and have only just seen your comment.
@@Mcat7101 No problem, great minds ...
@@apveeningThank you😊
👍🏼👍🏼
Although she might not have realized it at the time, it was definitely that Mama to be's luckiest day when you spotted her before those tight lines could do any more damage to her or the health of her pup 🫡🦭🙏🏻
🙂👍
👍🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️🦭🦭🦭💐
HELDEN
”WallyGyver” (aka MacGyver) always prepared!! ❤
😁👍
Wow, a serial killer bundle.
Never thought of that - a killer that just keeps killing
😔
Would a net with three zippers instead of two, make it easier to get at lines and entanglements? 😎
Maybe, but it would break more often as it would be weaker 🙂
👍
Just asking myself if there is actual pelicans at Pelican Point 🤔? Never saw one if your videos but we don't get a chance to see the birds from close, so maybe I missed them !
Thanks OCN for saving not one but potentially two lives today !
The peninsula at Walvis Bay was named long before the seals started using it as a colony. There are lots of Pelicans in Walvis Bay, sometimes at Pelican Point, just not where the seals are.
@@OceanConservationNamibia thanks for the answer ! 😃
Couldn't hear it, but it looked like she let out a big 'ooofff'. Nice rescue. How long are they pregnant? Do they eat the afterbirth like other animals, or don't they have predators?
A Cape Fur Seal's pregnancy lasts from about 8 to 9 months.
Cape fur seals do not have many land predators. In our colonies, only seabirds, jackals and hyenas prey on newborns, but they return to their scavenger diet when the pups are big enough to defend themselves.
No predators prey on Cape fur seals in our waters. The water is simply too murky and shallow for sharks to attack, and orcas that frequent this area only once or twice a year do not seem to be interested in them.
2,5k👍
I wonder how old that line is. For all we know, it could have been out in the sea for a couple of years or since the 60s.
Indeed 😔
