According to IMDb, the church in Home Alone was Trinity United Methodist Church - 1024 W. Lake Avenue, Wilmette, Illinois. And as the video description says, this is the First Congregational Church of Los Angeles, at 540 S Commonwealth Ave, Los Angeles, CA.
I know everyone wants to see the guy with the whip, but what a shame you can't see the audience reaction to it in real time. They're still loving it at 1:15 when you finally do get that shot!
Well, it depends upon what you mean by “the original Sleigh Ride”. The earliest musical composition called Sleigh Ride that I have heard was composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in February of 1791. I like it as much as Mr. Anderson’s composition.
The amount of work the percussion section puts in is more than you expect. We have to not only learn how to play x instrument, but also how to master it. And yes we do get bored because all the work happens when we play, not when the band is tuning for 30 minutes because some stupid clarinet can’t tell the difference between in and out
What instrument do you play? I play the whip. Oh? Much call for that? You’d be surprised… love this song. First time I’ve seen it without two pieces of wood.
@ I’ll bet you dollars to donuts that you never rode a sleigh before. I have. Secondly, Arthur Fiedler played this piece at the tempo that Leroy Anderson set as written on the score. The tempo of Leroy Anderson's "Sleigh Ride" is 124 beats per minute (BPM). "Sleigh Ride" is a light orchestra standard composed by Anderson. The piece begins with a steady rhythm of sleigh bells in B♭, and then the main theme is established with a cheerful melody. The second part of the piece changes from B♭ to G. Arthur Fiedler’s association with Leroy Anderson and the Boston Pops played many of Anderson’s works and was a frequent guest with the Boston Pops back in the middle too late 40s. MY former teacher who was principal oboist of the Boston Symphony back then would have testified to this.
Now they need a real horse for the end
Don’t tempt us! 🐴
@@synesthesiasinfonietta just pay a my little pony voice actor to neigh
Hahahahaha..!!
Don’t let Kramer feed it Beefarino!
Can you train a horse to neigh on command?

This is my first to watch this year. I always watch as many as I can. I like the high school band videos.
Yup and also very frequently played song
i love that he’s caged in behind the chairs for everyone else’s safety
Those chairs were actually for the choir! We just moved the choir aside for this feature.
I can appreciate how carefully the tuba must be playing in that big of a concert hall.
Tell more?
Churches have a very challenging acoustic, specially for percussions and brass, everything must be very controlled and dry
idk how to describe it but the stage, the color scheme, the lighting is very Home Alone 1
It looks like a church
According to IMDb, the church in Home Alone was Trinity United Methodist Church - 1024 W. Lake Avenue, Wilmette, Illinois.

The church linens are purple for Advent, if you wondered why the colors chosen here
😂
MY ALL-TIME FAVORITE CHRISTMAS INSTRUMENTAL AND SEEING IT LIVE IS HEAVEN AND WITH A REAL WHIP!!
The gold standard for this song!
I know everyone wants to see the guy with the whip, but what a shame you can't see the audience reaction to it in real time. They're still loving it at 1:15 when you finally do get that shot!
Sensational!
Very nicely done!
Wonderful! ...and played on authentic period single-tail! Great performance.
What’s rhat
First whip crack is at 1:09 if you're pressed for time.
Love this. Never seen that piece played before. Only heard it. So I’m never thought about it much.
Super loved the “neigh” trombone (?) at the end

Leroy Anderson’s Syncopated Clock is great too.
Insert Elmo Fire meme.
This is the greatest thing ever. 😂

this is the classical music to signify christmas, just as Slade is, with Merry Xmas Every-one in pop music.
Despite the fact that it is not a Christmas song.
1:48 Low Brass Decided that the rest of the Orchestra was Cringe.
My band director did this, his youngest son is a percussionist so he cracked a real whip
What instrument do you play? I play the whip. Oh? Much call for that? You’d be surprised… love this song. First time I’ve seen it without two pieces of wood.
The colors in the background (the purple and gold) remind me of the Byzantine Empire
POV: Indiana Jones if it is Christmas
🥲 Music is always better when real instruments are used. 🎉
🎶🎶🎶🎶 🎄 😁
What instrument do you play?
“The whip”
Do you have any horn players beside brass?
Lucky percussionist (?) who gets tk crack the whip
Anyone else notice the lady on the left, pop out the door, and start dancing.😁🤣
Jacques ze Whipper should have done this!

You didn't hire Jaques ze Whipper? Missed opportunity!
Should have had a real horse!
The wood blocks sound like aluminum cans
Hm. A whip in a church seems........ It was definitely a choice.
Not a real whip but very well done
Woodblock guy could not stay on tempo
Tempo too slow.
Listen to Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops Orchestra play this Christmas tune
No its not
