      The ability to laugh even when you are the butt of the joke a seldom known concept but I've yet to find people who would ever get upset about a joke or any joke simply because of the joke. It's always based around some other issue they have with themselves or the person talking. My point being

      For anyone who doesn’t understand how that’s an insult, a “technically proficient artist” is some one with the learned skills to make art, but who’s too dumb, lazy, or narrow-minded to create something interesting.

    As a therapist, she's probably very familiar with cynicism and sarcasm. She clearly knows he's being satirical, but she's also responding in a way similar to how she probably deals with sarcastic clients.

    • @Games_and_Music
      @Games_and_Music 6 років тому +2

      Her approach to sarcastic clients would certainly not be helpful to me, it would probably piss me off more.

      As a therapist myself, I totally agree and can empathize with interacting with these types of clients. I don’t do a lot of art therapy, nor do I ascribe as being an art therapist (it’s a classification much like marriage & family, etc), but it can be very beneficial in bringing out the subconscious thought like she described. However, if Trump ever did this, I believe it would not be beneficial as he would twist the dialogue and/or dominate every session like the egomaniacal narcissist that he is...

      It's shorthand for, "their conceptual framework hasn't advanced beyond romantic ideals of beauty in art". Classical-era artworks are especially popular among authoritarian-type leaders for their association with (you guessed it) empire. It's 2018. If their concepts haven't advanced beyond impressionism (early 1800s) just imagine what that must say about their social policies.

    07:38 - I was so glad with this ending. Art therapy is a really important discipline in mental health services, many can benifit greatly from it. I was afraid that it would be ridiculed now that lady Pence has brought it to attention (which is in itself a very good thing because everyone needs to know about it and its benifits, but, well, Pence..), but I was pleasently surprised with that ending and Stephen donating the money to the American Art Therapy Association. Very important! From art therapists and their clients from all around the world; thank you!

    I have done art therapy. It was powerful, but keep in mind, it is THERAPY. It meant drawing some pretty ugly stuff, and talking to a professional I trusted about it.
    I would love if therapy (including art therapy) received more attention, but something makes me think that Susan Pence just thinks art therapy is “draw pretty pictures, and feel better after!” Art can also be a great coping tool, and if that works for people, that’s awesome, but that isn’t all art therapy is.

      We already have examples of Donald Trump's art. He couldn't be bothered to offer more than a sketch. I don't think he has the patience or attention span to hone that kind of skill. It seems like something he was asked to do, and, being generally uninterested, committed a minimum of effort to the task.

      Lorna Ginette Harrison Angry orange ape flinging his own faeces?? Can you see outside of yourself to see how VIOLENTLY HOSTILE and CRAZY that description of Trump is? It has nothing to do with Trump. Shame on you for being so hostile towards another person, no matter who he is, and no matter if he's the biggest creep on the planet. Shame on you for your hostile and sick verbal bludgeoning of poor Trump.

    Loving when you do interviews. She was definitely on to you. (at least most of the time) I do love your artwork. Brings back some of the old days when you did art diagrams describing body parts (and functions) You are a true artist. When I grow up, I want to be just like you. I think my daughter should become an art therapist. I'm calling her right now.

    I love bob Ross
    I remember watching him as a kid. I actually showed him to my husband just a couple weeks ago, as he grew up in the north and have never seen him. We sat there for 45 minutes and watched him P pretty little mountains. This made me really sad to find out that he had died. I just imagined him somewhere with his Afro painting

      I grew up in Holland and pretty much everyone knew who he was, i doubt that the kids today know, unless he was a meme at some point, which he probably was. But kudos for introducing your husband to him :) Bob Ross is great.

    Sometimes, Stephen's late night monologue I consider as art therapy. After watching last's nights interview, I was up for hours, and then I slept like a rock. Be careful with your drinking Stephen and your writing. Gosh, I watched Bob Ross a teenager, it was therapy for me then as a secret.
