    I love seeing your plants, Ed. My one blooming phrag is still in bloom - for well over a month now, and still no signs of it fading away. It is so very pretty.BTW, I hope you win all the awards at the show, Ed. :)

      The show is in County Durham which is a beautiful part of the North East. Don't be surprised if you see the flower has been dropped because it will still look in pristine condition - that's what Phrags do to us!!

      Many big apologise S n o k e, I've only just picked up your comment from 1 month ago -- I generally reply to all comments the same day. I take it that you also like Paphs and Phrags?? So sorry again about the delay.

    The kovachii are doing well, I remember when you repotted one of them. Can't wait for them to bloom. Watching your Grandes with envy, mine can't seem to hold on to its growths long enough to bloom. The roth is also nice, and the kolo will be stunning! Looking forward to seeing it all bloomed out.

      Hi Libby. The Prince Edward of York must be one of the best hybrids produced coming from rothschildianum and sanderianum.. Thanks for having a look and for your comment.

    Lovely blooms, Ed. I always appreciate seeing your orchids. What is that little Paph with the mottled leaves? - it was down on the bench beside your big Phrags. I admire big orchids, but collect miniature ones myself.

      Hi Valerie. The paphiopedilum you mention is dayanum a very nice species. It's quite a large flower from a small plant so it tends to get pushed into the background --- must rectify this!! Have a good weekend.

    Love all your phrags and slippers. What do feed them.?

    • @EdsOrchids
      @EdsOrchids  7 років тому

      Hi Darlene and thanks for taking a look at my channel. I don't feed any of the commercial foods available. I use Phostrogen, Epsom Salts and liquid seaweed for the paphs and fish/blood and bone for the pharags.

    I have one phrag pearcii. While it's doing okay, I don't know that I'm giving it the best care. Any push towards the right direction and good sources of info much appreciated.

      Pearcei require warmth,air movement and plenty of good clean water which can be applied every day. I plant in a medium fir bark and perlite with a touch of horticultural foam and sometimes with charcoal. I wouldn't bother too mich about the compost I find the phrags will grow in anything where the water runs through freely - and don't over feed. Just give them a teaspoonful of fish/blood and bone twice per year, I do mine November and May.

      Eds Orchids thank you so very much for the information. If usual water is rainwater and I have it in hydroton or leca. I knew that they could be sensitive to fertilizers and so have not really done much with it in that respect. I will definitely do the recommendation you have given. Thank you so very much.
      Amy by the way, love your aquarium. Harlequin rasboras are some of my favorites!

    HI ED..long time no watch....I love watching your videos..i have a ? can u suggest a easy phrag I have tried 2 I am doin something wrong plse help name a few I should try I have proper conditions thnk u glad im back..my dad has bad n good day yesterday was good..thnk u for asking...

    • @EdsOrchids
      @EdsOrchids  7 років тому

      Hi Irma. All phragmipediums are fairly easy to keep the species can be a little slower to grow with the hybrids being easier and faster growers. They all require the same conditions. The temperature in the greenhouse does not fall below 13c
      and rises to whatever it wants to. They do not require any particular compost and almost anything will do as long as it drains fairly quickly. Give the plants plenty of water and keep very wet. The only thing which they do not like is a bad quality water and don't give them too much food.
      Hope all goes well,
      Ed

    I'm certain you've been asked this a million times before, but is there a visual way to tell the difference between a paph and a phrag? Appreciate your videos and beautiful orchids!

    • @EdsOrchids
      @EdsOrchids  7 років тому +1

      Do you know Wendy you are the very first person to ask this question and I don't really have an answer for you. People do get mixed up between the two so I suspect the best method is to read the label if they are not in bloom. It's very easy when in bloom if you have had experience in them both. Have a great weekend and sorry I can't be more helpful
      Ed.

      I have an orchid that I assumed was a paph but then I got to thinking. It's leaves are so different from my paphs. They are long and strappy. The tag only says SPRING FLING ‘Red Flare’ x JENNA MARIE ‘Royale Gem’. Not sure if that is familiar at all to you. Thanks for your input. Love seeing your perfect orchids!
