I've never really thought about it but the scariest dark souls boss is us. We come again and again, getting crushed, cut, stabbed, obliterated, and anything else. Then we show up again and again. Sometimes stronger, sometimes the same, but its apparent we are learning and that has to be scary after the 10th or 30th fail.
Imagine a dark souls character that does that throughout your playthrough. First time is easy but after the 15th time you two meet you're shiting your pants because the medival terminator just invaded.
Also sometimes this boss brings with it a spirit ready to speed up your demise.

Actually with how messed up the timeline is in each game, the bosses might see us and think it's the first time they have seen us when for us it's our 20th attempt
Alright everyone, please consider this for a second.
You have a monster. Not just any monster. One that's smart. Learn and adapts. And is completely immortal. No matter how many times you kill it, it will always come back. And it will be stronger than last time. It will be better. It will know your moves. Each time you kill it you make it stronger. It's impossible to kill it. Your only option you have is to just die and let it continue its path.
That monster is the player in every Dark Souls game.
yea this concept is pretty bad it reminds me of drake from the gone series immortal and hellbent on torture just because he wants to see you in pain

I LOVE the like "you take my life I fail to die."
It shows that the immortality isn't something the player has thanks to his skill. It makes it look like the opposide, he is simply so weak and unmeaningful that he fails his purpose of dying. True to dark souls fashion.
I see it more as a taunting thing, like “You can’t kill me” as in Dark Souls, you are not weak, although it may feel like you are, but in universe you are the strongest among the chosen undead, ashen ones, etc. The player character literally kills the most powerful beings in the realm, they are not weak

That's also the entire point of the plot. The Darksign is a curse. The world is so messed up because of the folly of the gods who branded humanity with that curse of undeath. As Solaire says, "the flow of time itself is convoluted", this curse of undeath seeps into the very fabric of reality. That's why your goal is to defeat Gwyn... either to give up, and sacrifice yourself so that your betters may eventually end the cycle, or to usher in the new age yourself. To end the gods' grand mistake.
It's not a good thing. You did not persevere, you did not overcome. You simply failed to die as you should have. As all life is meant to.
@@eyoshinthemaximum I feel like the more taunting line in the chorus is just “Kill me? I’d like to see you try.” Because yeah, you might kill them once or twice, or maybe hundreds of times, but you won’t get rid of them permanently.

See the thing about most games is that in the cannon story, you’re just succeeding at everything you attempt (even if you lost, according to the story you won).
But in Dark Souls you ARE dying, but you keep coming back. The respawn system is in the lore, and the bosses are aware you come back. That’s why the bosses are so powerful and aggressive. It’s because we keep coming back, so they’re doing everything they can to keep us down.
i adore when games make death + respawning canon if it’s done well.
the only other time i can think of it being so well done is Black Ops 2’s zombie map Mob of the Dead, where the constant cycle of death and rebirth is the purgatory that the characters are doomed to repeat over and over because of their sins

That's why I like the death counter feature in ds2. It tells you the worldwide deaths and in offline it tells you your death count. This should be in all their games imo it's a neat stat.

After playing through dark souls, I can see a difference in the two verses and the end part. In the first part, he was just starting his journey, more angelic and ready to face the challenge with the words spoken from the dialogue in the beginning, but in the second verse, he has either done it or is going through the lords, voice heavy and with so much emotion in it, after dealing with so much death and pain through it all, explaining through his journey to get to his point. SPOILERS PAST THIS. In the ending, it seems like he has chosen the dark ending, explains he won’t rekindle the bonfire and become the next lord of cinder, because he has chosen to be the undead and fulfill the darkness.
Fun fact, if you save solaire and summon him suring the gwyn fight, if you choose the dark ending hes the one to link the fire.

@@fr0ggykazu best ending, because the flame has been linked but you can still rule over the land without burning to death, so you get the best of both endings, you get to rule while the curse is also held back, sounds like a win win scenario to me.

@@IzalithLost I'm a bit rusty on my dark souls lore, but (honest question) is it implied anywhere he got stronger than before from the abyss? He lost his great shield and use of his main arm from it protecting Sif so it puts him at a disadvantage in that form.
@@akiva6887 He did get stronger despite losing his arm and great shield. It can also be seen in other creatures corrupted by the abyss, like the Abyss Watchers in Dark Souls 3, and it's a really hard fight. If you still aren't sure I would go watch Vatividea ( I hope I spelled that right.

This song is actually one of my favourites for JT Music, It's got Rhythm, Instruments and a rather powerful choice of lyrics that stick to the lore and are just actually relevant. Honestly deserves a good job, just wished I had this on like 10 hours.

@@icebrorottenmushroom1817 it's closer to a remaster than a remake. It's a complete overhaul of the graphics and models with a few things like what Ds2:Scholar of the first sin did. A remake would imply more changes.

@@loganjblack A remaster is a touch up of the assets made for the same game made on the same engine. A remake is made from scratch, re'making' all of the assets that build the game. So Demon's Souls is a remake.
Dark Souls Remastered is a remaster. Just because it's the best example I can think of, Black Mesa is a remake of Half Life 1.
