Thanks for the videos on the Wisconsin Driftless. I moved her a few years back and it is truly the Montana of the Midwest. Valuable tips to be had in these videos too.
Drew, in addition to stealth, small stream fishing requires creativity and adaptability. In this video, you certainly demonstrated all the tools required for success in our driftless area streams. It's nice to see you enjoying the driftless area of Wisconsin. It is truly a gem!
So great to see my home waters on your channel Drew! Glad you got into the fish. The Caddis and Mayfly hatches have been sporadic here the last couple months due to unseasonable weather. But now we've gotten some rain and things seem to be back on track. Love your nymphing technique on that foamy recirculating pool. Full waders are really overkill for these small spring creeks. I use a inexpensive heavy duty pair of stocking foot hip waders. Not fashionable, but they do a good job of protecting my legs from thorn brush, nettles and barb wire fencing. I roll em down when it gets too warm, or during the walk back to the car. Great video. Thanks!
That's great to hear. I'm thinking about investing in some water proof pants or something...I think simms makes something light weight that wouldn't be too restricted on movement.
Great video! You have encouraged me to plan an excursion to the Driftless Region. Also thank you for showing that even LooknFishy gets hung up in the stream side veg - I thought all along it was just me and my poor technique! Well done. 👍🏻
I think it’s cool that the fish you caught on the section of the streams where the bed was lighter the fish were a lighter silver but the fish where the river bed was darker the fish were more brown and colorful
That was a reaction at 4'40", Drew. I always use my #3 rod when fishing such tiny streams (sometimes even my#2 rod). Nice video. Again. Nice flies too. End of next week I go on my first 2023 flyfishing trip to Austria. Explore some new waters. A month later I go back again with my boys. Like you I used to go flyfishing on my own for many, many years now. But when my boys discovered the beaurty of this art I find it more difficult to go out on my own. You might understand this.
Love your content. At 20:59, how did you slide and adjust your hopper like that? I watched a few of your videos but could not locate that tutorial. Nice work my friend.
those spots with the high banks, where you're way above the water, and there's no cover, I can NEVER not spook fish in spots like that. Before I even cast, I see them zooming away.
Thát was a quick reaction at 4'40", Drew. Compliments. I always use my #3 rod when fisfing those tiny streams (sometimes even my #2 rod). You know why ;-) But a wonderful video to watch. Again. Nice flies too. And I see somewhat of rural America. Nice. End of next week I go on my first 2023 flyfishing trip to Austria, alone. Explore some new waters. Excited about it. Will let you know. End of July I go back again with my boys. I have 1 question to you: I used to go out on flyffishing trips abroad just by myself. For many, many years. However. since my both boys have discovered the beauty of flyfishing I have more trouble to go out on my own. Recognizable?
Nice trip drew!!! I bought a pair of dryft wadders this year after being a lifelong simms customer and I have to say I’m super impressed!!! NO sweat!! Don’t even feel like I have them on!!!! I wanted to try out those squalas but can’t afford two pairs!! Hey what length is your truck bed? Thanks
Hey so i'm exploring the driftless myself, I live in Northern IL so im fairly close. How often do you explore the class 2 streams or do you tend to just stick to the class 1 streams?
Man, I need to go to a clinic or something to get some casting help! I'm kind of "self taught" and I think I got some bad habits or techniques! I *frequently* end up with a ball of line right at the end of the rod instead of that nice lay out! UGH so frustrating

I can’t thank you enough for not putting a music soundtrack over your vids. All the sounds I want to hear while I fly fish are here. Carry on…
Yes! God I hate those videos with corny banjo music blaring away. Drew does a great job with his videos.
Thanks for the videos on the Wisconsin Driftless. I moved her a few years back and it is truly the Montana of the Midwest. Valuable tips to be had in these videos too.
This is special; thank you... love the driftless area for the rails-to-trails bike trips. I grew up canoe/kayak fishing Musky & small mouth.
Been fly fishing for about 2 years now. I am from Texas and just now getting into Trout! It’s a whole new adventure!

Super fishing mister!

That’s quite an unique fishery. Great video.

That last day on this segment looked perfect Drew! Way to end it with the sunset too. Heavenly!
My kind of micro water stream craft. Love it 🎣🎣👍🙏
14:36 crazy squirrel action in the background

Wonderful! Fish after fish 😀 🐈⬛🐾🐈🐾👏👏👏

Wow! Beautiful fish in a pretty little stream. Browns really are beautiful fish.
Yes they are!
Great vid Drew, heading up there in a couple weeks…keep em coming!
21:49 no ambiguity on that indie drop. hope I never tire of seeing an indie drop
Very beautiful smal stream through a meadow 😂

Catching all those fish and having chicken for dinner? Head scratcher 🙂

Hip waders are 👌 for these types of streams.
Thanks again Drew. How are the squitos, black flies, chiggers and ticks back there?
1st spot easy to tell where to go by the foot path in the weeds
Great video thanks.I see
You were using an indicator setup. What makes you decide between a hopper dropper setup or an indicator setup...thanks
Love the fly pole storage setup on your roof rack. May I ask who the company is? Im considering one for my suburu making transportation easier.

Just curious, why walk so far up the stream? It seems from the footage that there’s some interesting water right at the the beginning of the video.
The water closest to the access gets the most pressure and avoid others walking in and fishing in front of me.
Nice trip drew!!! I bought a pair of dryft wadders this year after being a lifelong simms customer and I have to say I’m super impressed!!! NO sweat!! Don’t even feel like I have them on!!!! I wanted to try out those squalas but can’t afford two pairs!!

Thanks
Do you notice any difference in the quality of the fishing between the streams north of the Wisconsin River and those to the south?
Sure was a lot of pretty brown's, love those yellow bellies. Hey drew, just wondering, how often do you get wind knots? Enjoyed watching. 👍
Haha...I don't count...that bumms be out!
Hey so i'm exploring the driftless myself, I live in Northern IL so im fairly close. How often do you explore the class 2 streams or do you tend to just stick to the class 1 streams?
in the beginning you can really see the strange color of the sun we’ve had for about a month bc of the canadian fires

10:37 10:50
I'd put up with the roadside traffic for that sunset view any day!
Where is this?
