- They say good things are worth the wait - and this beautiful looking and sounding keyboard proves it! This video journals the opening of the box to setting up to first power up and first play. My first attempt at such things, so I am not expecting to win any awards lol; just a bit of fun!
The Juno-X however deserves all the awards...
I am planning on more videos around the Juno-X in the future so look out for those - will be around the onboard sounds and then how to create your own.
If you have a Juno-X, or are interested in getting one, you're more than welcome to join my growing FB group, full of experienced musicians and synth users; come and join in! / junoxusersgroup
i cant even describe how i felt when you started playing. these are the sounds of absolute beauty. thank you for sharing
That really is lovely, in looks AND sound. Congrats to you - what a beauty, enjoy!
Wow!!! Beautiful sound, thank you for sharing!!!
I wish they still made the V-Synth
I know that everyone is saying that Yamaha DX-7 is the most popular synthesizer. I've heard how it sounds, its an awesome thing to have. Hearing now the Rolland Juno-X and i think this one is the best and makes the most vintage sounds of the 80's music. Literally makes you the one playing the original songs, all you need is the vocals... It is indeed magic! Thank you for the review, i'm glad that i was able to learn more about this sphere of industry.
awesome sounds, what an amazing instrument
Congratulations on a beautiful synth. I got one myself, and it has become my favorite. I have much more complex synths, but the beauty lies in the simplicity. Oh, and that Juno Chorus! SO lush. 👍
I Loved your video! Your new synth and your emotion!
Wow, look at the cool collections of Roland keyboards you are having here!
Sounds gorgeous! 😮
Sounds fantastic!
It was wonderful to share your joy!
Excellent performance and excellent instruments. Yes you were playing that stunning tune Ever So Lonely.
I loved the sounds you were getting from this instrument. I don’t play but I love listening to people that can.👍👍
With a synth anyone can play!
Learn about music theory a bit and watch some piano lessons, it is actually not that hard. You will be playing in no time!
Lust-worthy collection of Roland goodness you have there!!
Love your studio!
Congrats & enjoy it!
Whoa! awesome sounds 🔥
Sounds and looks great!
Hey Neil what a heard and see is a happysoul with his new toy ;-) nice unboxing 🙂
Beautiful Machine, I hope to one day have one!
wonderfull synth, the sounds is so beauty very 80'', I hope that i can buy it soon
Nice synth, and sounds very good.
Wow...what a Roland machines collection !!!!
A nice collection of Roland gear, yes they all do similar and some do the same but its your passion and your money! Do what you wanna do and enjoy! 🙌🏼
You deserve it ! What a cool video.God Bless you.
The Juno-X looks fabulous and sounds absolutely amazing too!,,I remember both me and my son having to navigate my Fantom 8 up into my studio in my attic, WHAT A WEIGHT!, and the shipping carton is colossal too!! Now that was a task that i won't go forgetting in a hurry!!,,,,Must say that i wished i had never watched this video as i am now looking at adding a Juno-x to my studio,,,thanks NEIL!!🤨
Haha - so you know what I went through on my own to the F-8 upstairs! Geez that thing is heavy. Fantom 8 + Juno-X = heaven ! :) Has to be done...
Lovely sound, and you got a lovely voice. Your dialect is wonderful. Please upload more "live" videos like this. I think it was the film-ish sound you made of the pad & pluck that made this video viral (I've listened to it about 15 times already). Thanks and Cheers from Sweden!
That's very kind - thank you for saying so and delighted that you enjoyed so much.
We got ourselves a Roland fan hardcore :D
speechless with patch you played towards the end
It's sublime!
I wish I could play the piano! I can't get one just to fool around with. It sound so good! I want one anyway!
Learn music theory a bit and watch some piano lessons, it is actually not that hard. You will be playing in no time!
If your children ever want to know how their father was with them, when he first saw them. You see how he handled the Juno out of the box, that's it! 😉😁
Congrats Neil!!! Years of fun in your attic.
Er freut sich wie ein kleines Kind! Schöner alter Wein in neuen Schläuchen.Ein Analogteil? Was macht man dann mit der Algorithmus Synthese und den grossen e-mus ? Die bleiben natürlich im Vollausbau.🍌🍰🍯😂😯👏👏👏
@8:00 "Arrival"? How appropriate!
Haha - was wondering who would spot this first! 🤣
Congratulations Neal. This is a very nice synth with a great sound. I know the Jupiter X can actually do more, but somehow I like it better Juno X. The videos are also much better than the ones I've seen here on UA-cam. But it would be nice if Roland took the step of integrating I Arpeggio into the Fantom series as well! If I hear correctly, this new Super Saw is not the one in Zen-Core either. It would be nice to see a video of how this Super Saw works. Originally, it starts from a Saw wave, which with the push button layers 7 Saw waves, and the other push button next to it, adds the Detune If we activate the Saw Oscillator with the Saw push button, and the two next to it push button and turn on the Super Saw button, you will probably get a completely lifelike Super Saw, but unfortunately there is no video of this to confirm what I think. This is a very effective way to save polyphony against sounds that use Unison. The two things are essentially the same, except Super Saw doesn't consume more polyphony.
All great observations there - yes it's a different super saw; unique to the Juno-X, as its Juno-X engine. Not sure how it works either but will see what I can discover.
Спасибо! Очень интересно 👍
**I Still have my RoLand D-50back from 1989*
Thanks so much for sharing this.
Your Juno X sounds amazing....--awesome home studio.
Im still learning my MODX7.. Do you write your own music??
Yes I do compose - some early live works are here on my channel
The cat just wanted in the box, lol
Great!! The Juno X presets are different than Jupiter-X?
My God its sounds like 5 keyboards at the same time! like Vangelis!!! engineered played, and do! God bless you! again maestro.
I had fun playing a new piano from best choices products with headset and microphone.
I’ve have the Roland fantom 7 and the Jupiter x 😎
Nice video !!!
Is there an HOLD key fonction on the Juno X as on the JUNO 60 ?
I’m not talking about ARP hold but just about a classic HOLD fonction.
Thanks a lot !!!!!
There is a hold but it just applies to the iArp - would be cool if it was a classic one too though.
Is your creativity really as cool and rich as your studio? I lack the motivation to really dive into all the possibilities of even one synthesizer (even though I have four of them). How do you manage to deal with so many synths lol?
having already the Jupiter X, why did you get the Juno X? It's all zen core models, that you already have in the Jupiter. Unless the Juno X zen core model is that good that it deserves its own keyboard.
I also think Roland missed an opportunity to add controls for a second envelope. Their Juno plugouts have two envelopes and I thought that's a great idea to modernize the original Juno design
Congrats! You sure do like Roland it would appear :) - thought only Elektron owners were like that. Good stuff though!
Can I ask, is the power cable fused? And if so, what value fuse does it use please?
Cat: Ooh - a box!
good
I bet you wish you were cashed up like that in the 80's!
Totally!
I got one and it does sound great - but I do find it a bit fiddly to use - a Juno X for dummies vid would be a big help. Surprisingly not a lot online like this!
Sounds lovely. Is the Roland-0 range on par with this?
Very much so - different engines but same sound quality.
You have an awful lot of duplication in terms of sounds and sound engines with that Roland collection there...
Can totally see why you think that because there is! But they all have unique engines - the Fantom does the ZEN-Core (and sometimes I want a sound that needs a fast synth action so I can load it into the Jupiter-X), the 'X' variants have unique engines, as does the System-8 (which has Promars, SH-2 and Jupiter-4 installed). The FA has all the SN sounds, the V-Synth is in a different world completely, as is the JD-XA. The Juptier-80 has a lovely non ZEN-Core engine in it too. So that's how I use the gear - I only really used ZEN-Core and models on the Fantom (although the JD-800 on the Jupiter-X is lovely!). Certainly the JU-06A was an indulgence - total duplication; but it looks fab lol! I also have an SE-02 in its box and should really use it more. So yes, to answer you next question, I really do have a lot of redundancy in the gear as I only use the unique elements really!
Absolutely Agreed!!! Roland overkill for sure. U should explore the many other superb developers available to add colour to ur sound palette dude.. Soma, dave smith, analogue solutions, elektron, dreadbox, Moog, Asm, Waldorf etc.. All superb! Just sayin…
@@TheSynthAcademy good for you Neil. If you enjoy the Roland gear buy as much as want… you should add some V Drums next
@@peterkelly8357 Indeed Peter! Massive Roland fan here too, like many watching no doubt. Enjoy your synths Neil!! 😎👍🎹🍻
Haters
heartbeakin' aint it
I see you’ve got the n/zyme on one of your videos would you recommend it as I’m thinking of getting it
It's a wonderful extension of the Fantom capability. The way I love to use is it as part of a mix - taking a ZEN-Core sound, then adding (say) a Jupiter-8 sound you then open up whole new sound worlds when you put n/zyme in there too - particularly when you add in the extra controls of zone edit ;) Have to say that n/zyme has not disappointed me. I'm off on holidays tomorrow for a week, but when I get back i want to put a vid together of exactly this mix approach to n/zyme.
Great
Hello
Is it 100% virtual analog?
Is there somehow some true analog oscillators inside?
Thanks
Jupiter X, new Fantom, MC-707 and Juno X together seem like overkill to me lol. Other things make more sense, I know JD-XA sounds completely different than System-8 and V-Synth. But 4 different ZenCore devices?! Damn, no way! Either way, congratulations on your purchase!
They all do similar things differently ;) 707 is totally different way to interact with ZEN-Core (and its pads are velocity sensitive where the Fantom ones are not). There's the Juno-X engine which is unique, as is the Jupiter-X engine - and then the Fantom has everything in it but with a piano keybed to play that way, but the the other X-gear is synth action so can play it differently. Most of all I'm so lucky to have such amazingly creative instruments.
@@TheSynthAcademy Can I ask you if the Juno X really has all the sounds of the XV-5080 module? I mean, if that's the case, then there should be 896 (7 x 128) patches from XV-5080 along with its GM2 bank (another 256 patches). Classique, MIDIed Grand, Fantasia JV, BellVox 1080, Taj Mahal, Temple of JV, Translucence, Y2K Concerto, The Andes and so on... Are these legendary patches present on the Juno X?
@@Acrimonious_Snake Yes - they're all there; all 896 of them - all the classics you mention are onboard the Juno-X :) Same with the Jupiter-X too.
@@TheSynthAcademy That is great! Thanks! I really love the legacy of the JV/XV classics.
Hi.
You have Jupiter X and Juno X, I have some questions:
which one has a better keyboard?
which one is better made?
how do they sound on the internal speakers alone?
which one is better for a band, where there is vocal, guitars, bas and drums?
Włodek from Dąbrowa Górnicza.
Not the easiest questions to answer!
Jupiter-X has slightly better keyboard in that it's semi-weighted and after touch - Juno is on aftertouch.
Jupiter is heavier and feels more sturdy - the Juno is still sturdy though.
Jupiter speakers are bigger so sound a bit better
Either would do for a band - the choice is whether you want the Juno character or the Jupiter one - both have ZEN-Core so it's really just the 80s/90s sounds you want to think about really! Either way, they both sound amazing and have high quality outputs.
Thank you for your comprehensive answer.
I'll buy Jupiter.
@@wokalgitara9295 You won't be disappointed!
Do you think this would be a good first-physical synth?
Can you just hook it to a PC with a USB? What kind of other devices would you need to "make it work"?
If you have some experience with soft synths then yes, it could be a good first synth as it has a lot of physical controllers. That would be with single sounds - it gets more complex when you work with scenes, which is 4 layered sounds with a drum track. But the effort to learn such things is well worth it!
Yes you can use a printer-type USB cable to connect to a PC direct.
@@TheSynthAcademy Ty
Isn't the JunoX just a smaller version of the JupiterX? Jupiter has 4 layers of VA and sampled ZenCore? Juno 4 layers too? Wondering why you have both the Jupiter and the Juno?
Maybe at first glance those are the common features. But there's the Juno 60 ABM expansion which is only on the Juno-X. Then there is the unique Juno- X engine, just as there is the unique Jupiter-X engine only on the Juptier-X. I wanted those three engines so had to be done! It's also very useful being able to have the same sound (ZEN-Core playing on both - perhaps i-Arp playing one of them and me playing manually on the other).
Ah, I see. ABM, not ACB, that is strange too with your System8 an ACB 8 voice. Well anyway you seem to have all the bases covered for vintage and current sound engines, without attempting to find a working analog original :) Interesting to see these all three orchestrated in a song. I have owned, bought new in the 1980's a Juno analog synth, I like the digital version in ACB (own the Boutiques) just as much and probably would like the ABM versions too, just need to hear and play the ABM version synth in person to know. @@TheSynthAcademy
hello, if you only had space and money for one roland synthesizer, which of the three gives you the most joy: a juno x, a jupiter x or a fantom?
Gah - that's a hard one to answer as heart and head give two different answers! Head says Fantom - it does so much, way more sound engines and layering plus sampling and sequencing (and more). Heart says the Juno-X. Nothing wrong with the Jupiter-X which has great character in its own right but the having three Junos in one box is a joy to play.
@@TheSynthAcademy thanks.
And the Quality of the Keyboard Keys from the juno x ar accaptable?
My Roland EA-7 arranger keyboard has the keys more short und in the quality not like an older yamaha arranger keyboard
🎉 🎉🎉
What is price..of juno..x
Iam more into expanders, because I’ve not enough places in my studio.
Already have a 106 ( kiwi mod) but my goodness the Juno-x is very tempting...OK sounds good, but seems they’ve finally got the message on have better styling & build quality & even proper number of keys! ( yes I’m looking at my JD-XA as I type this!) ....the X is unfortunately out of my price range currently but it really does combine a lot of good stuff......ps. Wow & thought I was a Roland fan 👦....V-synth GT!! Well done you....
Have a New? how much is this?
Nice gear, beautiful synths and KRK monitors. Only KRK headphones have a professional quality. Monitors are really weak.
you either should get a sponsor deal from Roland, become a product specialist/demoist, or you just have a full-on Roland addiction. ;-)
Yeah, just an addiction! 😂
Ele lembra o JUNO-106
🤤
NO idea why you have a jupiter x and a juno x , both are using the identical zen core engine .
Juno x just has an extra expansion but it's still based on the zencore
Some Gary Numan-Cars, Ray Parker-Ghostbusters, or Yaz-Situation!😮😊😅
Jupiter 50. Nuff said...
she's beautiful
you have the juno x on the jupiter x so why buy the juno?
Hi - no the Juno-X engine is unique to the Juno-X and is not on the Jupiter-X. Yes, pretty much everything else is common, but the two X engines are different :)
You’ve got the cat, you’ve got the synth, do you have the space to play? ❤
Lol - I see what you did there!
Please make something good on this keyboard
I don't understand. You have the Juno X and the JP-X,almost the same sounds?
Correct - but they have two unique engines (the 'X' engines) - so I can have at any one time (with one pari of hands), have a juno-X sound with a ZEN-Core sound and the Jupiter-X sound with a different ZEN-Core sound. I know it's not for everyone, but I love it this way and they offer unique sounds (there's also the supersaw and the choruses on the Juno-X that are not on the Jupiter-X, and then there is also the JD-800 model which is on the Jupiter-X but not on anything else (yet, anyway).
Penge po ng isa.
Save the box for when you sell it
Bismillah
This video is sponsored by Roland
I hope you cook with different ingredients ….. soo much Roland stuff. Must all sound the same no?
Currently between £1700 - £1800. 😢
You don't really need this. Your Fantom and System-8 already do all this machine does and more.
Que sentido tiene comprarse un Juno X si tienes un Júpiter X?
Es más de lo mismo.
Please, don’t be fool and buy original 6, 60 or 106!
the multi-timbrality is laughable. roland could haver implemented 16 parts - for sequencing in conjunction with an external hardware sequencer. my good old access virus ti2 desktop is laughing about this synth.
its a shameless money grab capitalizing on the juno name imo
you may have wasted your money
why ....
This is basically a Roland Boutique synth in a larger form factor. Way over priced. Move on kids!
Another piece of Modern Roland digital crap...yay. How long until they stop responding to bug reports?
a good set of tools . Only Roland MX -1 is missing .
Funnily enough I used to have one! Found I was only using it as an audio interface so decided to move it on.
@@TheSynthAcademy
I see.
I don't use a computer and programs to record music. Therefore , I use MX 1 as a mixing console with effects .
Богатый дядя , столько синтов не дешёвых !
Why do you hug Rolands🤔
He starts playing at 7:57, before that it's just a bunch of "filler"
Sounds like every other synth I've heard. Nothing new. 🥱 I'll keep my $2k.
