Keep in mind Phu, cut down an old pair of Kink Stock bars from 29 inches to 23 inches in width. We don't recommend you try this at home, and especially don't use a grinder, like Phu did!

I grew up in the Era of tiny bars... I can't go back. Big bars feel so weird even on a cruiser.
Not that I can barspin (I’d like to learn) but im thinking of cutting an inch off mine to 1: fit through doorways easier and 2: if I do learn to barspin , do it doesn’t catch on my beer belly. I mean loose clothing.....

Guys get this I used a clamp on Dirty Harry leaver and clamped it below the handle bar crossbar I was g as hell way back in the day
it would only fit there 🤙
I still have same problem my oldschool powerlite bars with brakes is hard with today's grips. Never cut them either just short from factory
My next door neighbour had a powerlite we cut the rear dropouts so we could put the 14mm axle on instead of 10mm he’s still got the bike today it was pre 2000 we also used max daddy tyres I. Metal ramps they sounded like tractor tyres 🤟

My method used to be put the lever on put the grip by the lever mark and cut off the rest. Put on bar ends.

The reason you can barspin easier with smaller bars is because you have mechanical advantage in having your arms closer to your core.

I grew up with cut bars. Till today i still ride with the same bars. I had long bars and either hit my knees or bars in my stomach on a fail. No room to bail

I have kink eagle bars and was thinking about taking an inch off each side because they are basically 30in wide ..... ive tried a few barspins and they hit my knees every time even when im trying to keep my legs straight as possible but maybe its just something ill figure out over time since im pretty new to riding (started in september 2020 and havent been able to ride much in december and january due to the weather up northeast)
I started riding Bmx in roughly 2000-2001 and I think I rode my primo moes bars cut to like 25” nowadays I like a little wider bar at 27” which allows me to throw a bar without hitting legs or belly lol….. that’s about the smallest I would want to go and still be able to run a brake on todays bar geometry
i still cut my bars short, my legs are to long lol

I already do my flick at the bend, but I'm used to catching them wide.
Maybe cutting 1.5" would have been a better place to start, combined with weight reduction in the wheel, tire and tube. That's where the bulk of the weight resides.

Yea but leverage for certain tricks feels off, I do cut mine a little since I do bars and alotta xup tricks but barspins sut feel gross with smaller bars hars
@@ethandenis5650 it does feel off on certain trick, so now I have medium size bars and no more bar spins cus of that reason.

Narrower bars definitely help with wheelies
narrower bars make x-ups easier. Do an x-up while standing over your bike with hands on the grips. Then do the same thing but hold the bars at the cross bar and do the x-up.
I'll never comprehend how to get bars past your knees. Even if they are 8 inches wide
You have to stand straight up, with your legs locked and gripping the seat with your knees. That provides ample clearance

Now, I'm wondering how the 80s.CW bars compare to the 9s and 10s of today, they were tall and the crossbar and grip area was all the same piece.. as if you welded a tube across the top of a U.
I still have the tiny bars that came on my DK General Lee, super small and narrow, even for that time period, I can hang them off my rearview mirror...lol..Took me a while but I ride 8.5s and 9s now always about 28" wide
Bro...got an og CW ZXL frame and the bars are about today’s standards for the 9”+ riders. Skyway mags on the bike and still cruise it around 💪

It’s not the bars that make it spin faster or slower , it’s the weight of your rim , the weight of your tube , the weight of you tire , the forks your stem & the bars . All of these things are a big factor the rotational weight has a lot to do with it also , you can narrow it down to a Science to get a better faster spin . Back in the day like in the late 80s early 90s the way I had the whole front of the bike set up I could 1080 bar spin popping out the top of a 10 foot half pipe at the height of 6 feet above the coping. & if you add pegs to the front it also plays into faster bar spins . You have to narrow it down to a Science , it’s easy if you know how to do it .
