I was there, way off to the side, my first ever concert and it was amazing! I was able to catch Elton’s motorcade on the way home zooming down I-10, I-94, and back East on one of the exits.
October 20, 1973, "Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding" opened the show, as it did for so many years to come, and it blew the auditorium away. I got to meet him October 14, 1984 as the limo he was in made a wide battleship-worthy U-turn in the gravel parking lot outside the arena and the right-front corner of the bumper clipped my left leg about knee-height as the Lincoln skidded on the loose stones. He jumped out and came to me, clutching my arm and asking if I was alright (I was). I then got a chair off-stage to the right for the show (I was alone on that occasion.) Super-nice guy. I saw him again in October 1998 (something about October). Sadly, that was the last time I saw him live.
Those were the days. His show was electrifying. But that was then and this is now. You didn’t miss a thing. This show had a fancy stage but that’s it. His voice is weak and he barely moves. He’s old and it shows. But as long as fans keep paying, he’ll keep playing.
Thank you Sir Elton for sharing your gifts with us. Your talent is once in a generation. I am so grateful that you discovered what you are capable of. No one did it better than you and I am happy that you plan to retire. I will come to O2 if you decide to scratch your itch.
The 1st album I bought of Elton's was Yellow Brick Road. I wore the vinyl out on those records. He still sounds great for being in his 70's. May The Rocketman live in our hearts forever!! Thanks for taping the concert and sharing it with all of us! 😍💗

I went to see him, it twenty years ago(wow, where'd the time go!) but his song Tiny Dancer was back in the charts again ,thanks to the movie Almost Famous but he was alone in one of his solo shows and while he had things he triggered for extra keyboards etc. But the energy he put into that show was amazing! I'm guessing that's why he so revered!
Just saw him live in Greensboro and the piano/ guitar riff in rocketman literally had me in tears while dancing and screaming for him at the same time. Such an amazing concert

Elton "jumped around" a lot while performing during those days; but MOST EXCELLENT to see this concert was ALL about his EARLY HITS in his career !! These are songs that have probably heard BILLIONS of times during 50 years his musical career by hundreds of millions of fans & radio listeners !! THANKS AGAIN !!

I originally bought two tickets, one for a November show, one for the last concert of the run in December - six weeks apart. After the reshuffle they're now 13 days apart. Ah well. As to the O2 roof - well I'm there for Simply Red on March 2nd so they've obviously patched the tent!
Some nerdy vocal bologna here... Sounds like Elton is singing his higher range vowels far more forward in his larynx than he has in the recent past. This technique is giving him a voice more akin to his pre-1987 sound. He's also very clearly using his head voice extremely strongly and reliably during Levon specifically in a way we haven't heard for as many years. I'm a fan. His voice is sounding better than ever or at least better than it has in nearly 35 years.
Love Elton, I was in my teens in early 70s so he's been there all my life. His voice is still good but he misses some of the high notes now which is totally understandable

Saw Elton at the Spectrum July 1976. My first concert (of many). Easily one of the best shows I’ve seen.

After two years of postponements, the concert I was supposed to see officially got cancelled, so this is the closest I’ll get to seeing the concert.
