Spammers deserve the capital punishment
It’s ridiculous!! I get about 10-25 calls everyday . It’s so annoying! Cell phone Carriers should do something about it .
here in Australia, by Law, all spam, text and calls, must be blocked by our cell providors..
But in America, the cell providors, make money out off selling spam blockers... sucked in...
Don't give ur number away too easily on Facebook ect
@@graemejohnson9025 So, does that mean you never get spam calls? If so, lucky you! In Canada, 90% of them are in Chinese (I think). Incredibly annoying, but no fear of being scammed, anyway.
I’d love for someone to explain the motivation for spam calls. Scams, I understand. But so many are just dead air or useless phone messages, e.g. “To make a call, hang up and try again.” Why???
@@Prairiedogma to know if is a active number my guess
The DNC registry is worthless. I've been on the list since 2007 and it's done absolutely zilch in terms of reducing spam calls.
Text messages too 🤬🤬🤬
The GOP is worse! (Ducking) 🤣
When your leader has dementia. Yes the DNC is worthless
I wouldn't be surprised to discover that the spammers use the registry as their call list.
DNC list is for legitimate companies. If you're surprised illegal spam callers use it as toilet paper, I got a bridge to sell you...
Many years ago I rarely received any unwanted/unidentified/spammy calls, later emails. Once registered with the DoNotCall lists I ummediately started getting dozens of junk calls a day and nothing stops them. National registry seems to be in cahoots with the junk tech industry.
All of the tools mentioned in this video are bandaids. None of them deal with the source. The real question we need to ask ourselves is, what factors lead to the creation of a spammer. Only then can we go down the path of making spam a thing of the past.
Human greed is the source. Fix that.
@@turqoiselove1 I agree. You remove greed by removing the factors that lead to greed.
Majority of scam callers are generally in India.
India has laws against scam call centers BUT these call centers provide fronts to seem like legit buisnesses and they even pay taxes to the government so the Indian authority isn't going to do a thing about this problem.
These people are happy to be thieves because their mob boss pays them better than the jobs in their economy.
It's India. Sanction them until they fix the problem. They already know how to block their country from p*rn.
I live in Brazil and the situation is identical. We even have a service where you can register your number so you don't get called, but there's always that call that goes through. I had to go extreme: if a number is not in my contacts, my phone doesn't ring. So whoever says they'll call me, I gotta add them to my contacts and then delete it later once I don't need it. It's annoying, but yeah.
Right. But then if you're someone applying for jobs or trying to get ahead in your career, it's tough to get by because you don't know if you'd miss their call
I don't answer unknown calls. The only exception is if I order delivery. I block all unknown numbers
They just call back from another number.
And they will just call you from another. Blocking solves nothing. At what point do we say enough as a whole.
Prosecute spamming companies CEOs and Directors if they call more than once, after being asked to cease.
I say don't even give them the opportunity to rip off old people that don't know what's going on
I say Congress should pass a scam-call TAX! Every time one of these robocallers call, they should be SLAPPED with a $1000 fine per call, with $500 going to the victim and $500 to the IRS!
THAT WOULD STOP THEM!
It's gotten to a point where i want to change my number
I'm about to do that .
Majority of spam calls I get are from Google voice numbers. What is Google doing about this?
I hope someone at CNET or in the tech world can see this...
...we have made progress with the blocking spam on new phones, but it would be great if there were a way to block them from ever leaving a message on voicemail.
I hate having to call, enter password, then wait for message to then delete this Chinese spam call. It's all a waste of time
The government needs to crack down on those who harvest and sell numbers and emails, fine them $1000 for each email or number they harvested and also $10,000 for EACH copy they sell! this would put a end to spamming in a few days!
These scammers are using ghost calls. It's harder to trace...
haha the do not call registry dosnt work at all
You can literally track any IP address. So all those Indian call centers could easily be tracked.
My boss just ran up to me asking me for help about this. He got into the office at 9:30 and has gotten nonstop calls since...we're talking about at least 50 calls that have been occurring right after each other. No one answers, the phone just hangs up after. What's happening? Getting random calls from PA, IL, CO, and other countries.
This is one of the main reasons I love my Google Pixel, and I don't understand why no other smartphone OEM has tried to copy this feature.
Call Screening has been absolutely amazing at stopping scam callers in their tracks, and I pretty much never get them anymore because either it's filtered out in the background or they just keep hanging up when I put Google Assistant on the line instead of myself.
in Austrlia, spam blocking is FREE, our cell providors do it by law... it just pops up on your phone. block, you tick yes, and its gone..
@@graemejohnson9025 that is absolutely not true. I live in Australia also.
Reminds me of the Cold War days when enemy intelligence agents would combine details of personal info
like pieces to a puzzle.
since yesterday, i’ve been getting so many random calls, most of them tilted scam likely, others have a phone number & a random location.
Getting about 7 a day…it’s lightened up a bit in the last month but for a while I couldn’t even turn my ringer on. Frickin’ ridiculous.
The majority of Spam calls are basically the modern form of the Con Artist. They want to con you out of your money. If you've seen the Paul Newman/Robert Redford movie "The Sting" that was set around 100 years ago now and Con Artists were in abundance then, its just the modern day ones use technology like everybody else.
Scam calls have replaced spam calls. The amount of numbers they have to dial from are limitless.
Wrong clip I know but wanted to chime in on the iPhone/Android green chat bubble. An iMessage in blue is free to send where a green bubble means it’s either coming out of your sms allowance or paying to send that message if you have run out of sms allowance. It’s always green between iPhone and android because android has no iMessage functionality.
My cell phone provider is straight talk. I've called them about the spam calls but you can't talk to a live person . I receive 12 spam calls a day. I block them but they just change their numbers. It's a never ending cycle. Now I'm getting restricted calls and there is no way to block them. This is a real problem.
I just started getting spam calls, since straight talk joined up with Verizon.. I've gotten 12 calls in less than 2 hrs. This is absolutely unexccetable
Yeah, me too! Had a record yesterday of 16....unreal.
Pixel's screen call is a life saver
You are GREAT. A big thank you!
Everytime someone spams my phone
I'm going to just post the numbers here in the comment section. You may do what you want with these spammers.
Hotmail spam folder still not working. How they can't tell "costco" is nit spam. And phone it would be amazing if there was just way to block all unknown number without buying app
Thankfully Google Fi blocks most and the ones that come through they flash spam warning, but still incredibly annoying
Thank you for this overview of how to knock down Robo call & Spam across our devices. ❤
I turned in over 100 numbers to the no call list, which I'm on, and nothing happened. My spam calls increased. Now I just put him on hold.
Thanks for the info
Any chance of getting off of facebook and creating a alternative local online classifieds to buy, sell, trade and post wanted listings? It's too much work to get on here and established only to have facebook ban or block me from their buying/selling groups while allowing many of these spammers and scammers to make many hundreds of thousands of posts. Makes me wonder if facebook has some partnership with them. Did I violate facebook's policy by blocking obvious spammers or scammers?
Our own cellphone provider is giving them out.
if you have to pay for a spam filter the company you are paying is profiting from that spam. don't pay!
Not true! 🙄
Very good piece very informative please do more like this
It is the annoying unwanted Spectrum Calls. They always say your service is out of date. Please press one to get more information. I've asked a number of times to take me off the call list, and they STILL call! I'm on the Do Not Call List, yet they call sometimes 4 times a day
Getting texts every other day from fake USPS to "Click here to update your address otherwise packages won't be delivered" bs. Block one and another from diff text number pops up
They keep changing the phone numbers and i have 1 million numbers on the blocked spam caller list. I put to put myself on the do not call list and still the same calls multiple times a day.
Spam, unavailable, wireless, toll-free, all annoying
Samsung have a setting called HIYA which blocks all spam and unknown callers in call settings
I think these spam calls are from all the data breaches we’ve had. This is just another phishing technique for social engineering…..just block the number don’t click on links being sent etc…. Good luck!
I got a scam call saying they are att and they said they can make my bill lower and I said how bout I come over and have some fun and make my bill $0 and he said yes and I said just Kidding don’t call me again or I will sure you because I have your location. They hung up i don’t get scam calls that much.
Best thing is to ignore all call unless they call 3 time in row
If you're lucky enough to have telemarketer screening on your home phone you could do call forwarding to the house phone. Seems to be working really good I haven't had a scam call on the house phone in 2 years
Im sure the hospital get some of their money back by selling your info. You do sign the paperwork to give them permission to share your info. Unless you sign your name wrong👀
Service providers write the software that controls the network. They literally invented it. They deploy it, maintain it, and perform upgrades on it. Yet mysteriously, according to this article, some 52 billion spam calls are placed and get through to subscribers every year and the service providers say they are powerless to stop it. What's wrong with this picture.
Samsung has an option to block them under phone settings
Isnt True caller popular in the US, This problem is controlled to a large extent because of true caller, the app itself will show how likely the number is spam, comments of other people who have given their feedback etc. It helps quite a lot
My opening line to each spam call I get. "So, how was the trip coming accross the Rio?"
At 4:45 I got a ad with robo killer lol
i had thease spam calls i just used a free call blocker and it worked and this video helped a lot
I was so annoyed I cancelled my cell service.
spam calls and texts everyday. that's why i changed my new numbers good for my security. now I don't give any companies my phone numbers. Thanks for share
Hahaha 'Do Not Call List'. That thing is a joke. I've been on for years and i check yearly to be sure i'm still on, makes no difference.
I just can't believe these scammers actually make any money doing this crap. There seems to be an endless supply of gullible people to fool.
Typically I just avoid answering all unknown calls. But if I'm expecting calls for medical appointments / interviews it's very frustrating to answer spam calls. Instead I use a third party verification like Whois by SIPSTACK
Something else that should come with jail time and fine is have you ever gotten the political vote for so and so text!
I just mouthed off to spam caller . Just sick of them
Try Call screening Google voice. It will Stop those robocalls. It is already available on Pixel phones.
Once you call someone on your phone it gets registered on a spam list therefore they put you on a list to be spammed.
I used to get spam texts every day. They have stopped now but used to I would get 2-6 every day saying it was Marco Rubio or Ron desantis and they would say something like “this is Marco Rubio here, we’re embarrassed to be doing this but we failed to reach our goal. Could you chip in $5 in the next 5 mins to help us?”
And before those I used to get calls from random places in the US, Afghanistan, Australia, and other places
And they would always call me Don.
Very helpful video. Thanks for all the great tips👍
Only 10 a day? I'm getting upwards of 60 a day
I've been getting 20-30 spam calls a day. It's overwhelming.
Good video but this is very sad. There is no privacy anywhere anymore not even with your phone # and why should you have to pay to get a spam blocker on your phone let these cell companies that don’t protect your data provide it for free.
Is annoying annoying I receive more than 20 spam calls
I just put in do not Disturb, then if it's a Repeat call from a Same Number or Let them leave a message. That way you'll know who's Calling
Why not just Make an answering machine that says "in order to reduce spam calls please press 1 to get connected"
But won't they know it's an active number when it rolls over to voicemail?
I moved from Arkansas to Kansas and kept my Arkansas number. 80% of my robo calls are Arkansas numbers. The other 20% are from the USA. I block every number that comes through I bet I have nearly 1000 callls blocked in ten years since I moved.
Depends what phone you're using. If you have a pixel, you don't have this issue.
I just answer every single one and when I hear a human voice I whip out the armpit fart
❤
Ok hold on! My spam calls increased 50 fold the very week I started a small business and applied for a state sales tax # I come to find out when I did my info become public knowledge and I use a cell for my business and I do not advertise at all all word of mouth from customers. So I get angry and call my state comptroller office and they said sorry but when you filed for tax number your number is pubic and too bad! So I get sometimes 15-20 a day. And certain days and time of month is worse Mondays are bad.
I get about 10 a day too. I feel like a scam magnet
Turning on "Silencing unknown callers" on call settings helps
Thats what I do plus every unknown num that calls me is automatically blocked untill I un block it .
The problem with turning that on is that it will block a number that isnt on your contact list or recent call list…and sometimes you want to receive a call from a client or prospective employer who may not be on your contact or recent call list.
There should be tighter regulation on creating phone numbers
Spammers ruined it for the people who just wanted to call and ask if their fridge is running.
I know this isn't that bad but I'm getting an absurd amount of spam emails that are going right through my spam filter
I only started getting them when I switched to Verizon 🤬😡
I get a spam call roughly every 3 MINUTES, SOMEBODY HELP PLEASE, can barely use my phone.
Did u fix it?
Just go in settings and block all callers not in your contacts.Thats what I did .
@@gares882 hey, I actually got a new phone number lmao. so if i start getting spammed again i will do what @john-ob7dh said to do
I came to know why? Not to learn that it’s complicated to resolve.
in the last 2 days on my iphone 13, each day it was 30 calls back to back. 10 today, but god XD if anything its a new scam center or something too lol
Is this Al Jazeera?
I just ignore any calls not friends or family.
And my mom keeps answering them even with caller ID.
I would like Apple to implement a "Hide my phone number feature along with hide my email
So we have scammers trying to make money from the people who fall for the scam so now there are companies making scam blocking apps that minimise these guys taking the money from *these* same fools they are benifiting from these scammers! now getting a monthly fee from people all over the world. I wonder if it's a possibility that the ones making these apps are also the scammers. hypothetically speaking.
I get literally hundreds a day. I virtually have no capacity to dig through all those calls. I can't handle business.
Yea spam can be annoying. Especially when you are making a bomb and those marketers keep calling on your phone fuse.
😂
And don't hit ignore button they'll call right back because they know you're ignoring them just hit the silence button and let it continue to ring quietly that will throw them off eventually
Introduce a Saylor orange check
I use truecaller autoblocking. Blocks all robocalls, and 99% of unwanted calls. Even if it doesn't block a spam call it identifies it so smartly that you always know who you are going to talk to. Sadly, you need an android device for trucaller to work properly. Apple with its fascist iOS doesn't allow third party apps to work properly.
7726 to report to carrier doesn't work.
8:13 because the spammers will die from old age in future
Nice sister. I am Muslim too from Bangladesh 🇧🇩
It's just another way for these companies to make more money
over 75 scam calls the past 3 days
The government should automatically register people to that list or make it a policy as no one wants spam phone calls
Make phone transactions illegal
