One thing people should be aware of is that you'll likely have a 10 cent or so difference in pitch between the bottom of zone 2 and top of zone 2. To make sure you're in tune, pick where in zone 2 you want to be (basically, the closer to zone 3 you are, the higher the sensivity of the string before it allows you to bend), and tune to that position you are within zone 2. So say you wanted to play chords and not bend, place yourself in the center of zone 2 and then tune there. If you mess with the tunining peg chances are your tuning will drift up or down, depending on what you do.
I've been eyeing a Solar with Evertune and wondered what that was all about because it seemed a bit complex. So I did what you do - went to youtube for answers and watched a couple of clips that tried to explain the zones and made a really half arsed job of it and I came off of that even more wary about the Evertunes than before. This made all the difference though, now I get it. Thanks a whole bunch.
I received it yesterday and holy crap.. I have never played such a nice guitar. I broke a string adjusting the tuning without looking back at this video. I watched your video again, restringed without an issue. Thanks for the video. I tried reading the book that came with the evertune info but couldn't get through it. This video does a perfect job of explaining this process.
Ever since I got my satin koa ec1000et set up, I’ve been more then happy. I even went back and re-recorded my ep. btw, the standard evertune saddles are more then capable of drop B flat / A sharp with a 13-62 gauge set.
Hello Nick, great video. Thank you very much. In my opinion it's the best video I have ever seen about evertune. I am looking for a new guitar and now I am able to make a right decision. Thank you. King regards from Germany
Hi Nick. You have a great channel, love your videos. I have the same guitar just with distressed hardware. I was wondering if you have a video of how to quickly go from standard D to drop C tuning? If not, maybe you could make a video about that. Would love to see...
Thank you for the kind words. I't actually pretty straight forward. Setup the guitar (if you have the evertune) to be in Drop C all the time and when you need to be in C standard, simply turn the tuning peg like normal and tune up to C. I could probably make a video demonstrating this if this doesn't make sense.
Nick Hill I’m having a bit of a problem with this as well. I just changed the strings on mine, and I typically play in standard tuning on this guitar, but switch to drop d tuning for a lot of songs. When I turn the tuning peg down to loosen the tension, it puts it in the zone where I cannot bend the E string any longer, but it’s now dropped to D. I can’t figure out how to get the dropped tuning still bendable. I just put the strings on the guitar like I would any other guitar, I’m not sure how to set it up for a particular dropped tuning.
Bonus points for "shite", that cracked this Irish guy up! I've just got an Evertune-equipped guitar. I want to drop the tuning down from standard to D standard but using the same gauge strings (10-46) - Should the action be raised or can I control the tension using the intonation controls? (I really like the action the way it is currently so if I can avoid raising it that would just be super!
Hey man! I didn’t adjust the action specifically for dropping my guitar. I play in drop C and setup the guitar/evertune for that and if I need/want to play in D Standard, I just adjust at the tuning peg. You may not need to mess with the action at all. Tough to say. Good luck man and welcome!
You can buy a pitch shifter then you can keep it tuned to standard and use the pedal to play in whatever pitch you want. Double drop D, why not? (This is what black tongue does$
thnx for explaining! its a cool bridge, but realizing its not my thing, prefer a fixed bridge to be able to instantly force a note down as well as up (either with pressure or with the tuner). would be great for tracking solid rhythms though!
Yep, that’s the only short-coming if you’d call it that. You can still bend notes like a normal bridge when it’s setup to do so which is easy. But yes, quickly changing a tuning isn’t possible. I do however set mine up in drop C tuning and am able to quickly tune up to standard D. So there are workarounds. Cheers my Dude
@@NickHillMakesMusic It's all about what you prefer. There's even fretless bass players that have a floyd rose installed. Even as being a fretless bass player I'm baffled.. but it exists (f.e. Primus). Thanks again for sharing! Had not figured out till now how it works. I even think there will be use for the micro-bend sounds you demonstrated here within music (sounds pretty cool!).
I received my A1.7D yesterday and it's in kinda rough shape. It's advertised as distressed with imperfections but some of them go really far like non recessed blade switch screws which kinda cracked the wood and rough glue/paint/non sanded wood stuff being in the tone/volume knob recess. The jack cover isn't completely attached flush with the body, so there's an air gap between it and the body where you can see the screw enter the body, and the Evertune made the sound of something sliding around inside when turning the guitar neck upright and upside down, although it somehow disappeared after doing this a couple of times... It also came very out of tune which I didn't expect with the Evertune. I also noticed the low A/B string was super floppy causing a ton of fret buzz or rattling so I checked with a caliper and it seems to be a 52/54 gauge instead of the listed 62... Not sure what to think of all this to be honest. My A2.6C seems to be way better quality even though being less than half the price... Kind of a dilemma considering I love the way it looks but almost want to return it cause of these problems, but probably can't my hands on another A1.7D considering they're LTD... :(

Hey nick. Just got my first guitar with an evertune yesterday. For the most part I’m completely understanding this but confused about a couple things. When tuning is there a particular zone you need to be in or is it whichever zone you want? I prefer zone 3 so I can bend but at the same time I want what zone is best. That being said if I do want zone 3 do I keep going up until the pitch changes and then go back down to tune or do I go up until the pitch chances and then tune instead of going back down to that fine line of zone 2? I hope this isn’t to confusing. Just done want to “mess anything” up if that’s possible. Once again this is all new to me and never heard of evertune until this guitar I got.
Great video but I’m stuck on something. I have my 8 string with evertune and I need to go down a half step. I feel like I’m in zone 1 where I can bend but I need to be in zone 3 for bending right. I need help on how to tune it down and have that as zone 3 cuz it’s set up for standard. Standard is zone 2 how do I make it so zone 2 is down in tuning and then adjust from there?
so you have to tune each string to zone 2 individually , then adjust the string height , then the tuning? feels like there are soo many moving parts and the fact that you can't bend a note is kinda scary for me
Maybe the evertune isn’t for you then my Dude and that’s ok. You can still bend notes though. Very common misconception. Ola Englund recently uploaded several videos regarding the ever tune bridge to the Solar guitars UA-cam channel. May be worth checking out
I`ve watched several videos about this bridge but there`s still a question in my head which bothers me before I buy one of these. According to my scenario, I will use it with Standard D tuning with 0.10 strings installed. Is it possible to use Evertune`s always in-tune feature while I still able to bend like other normal bridges? According to information given, I`m not. Am I? (It seems like I must be at Spot "2" which doesn`t allow you to bend) Any comments appreciated. Thanks!
Yes. You can bend. You can set it up to bend right away (in the act of bending a string) like a normal guitar or you can set it up where you need to bend just a tad more before pitch starts to change. I talk about it in my videos and in some of my love streams. I think I go over this very topic in the last livestream. Cheers man.
i dont understand, so in what zone you need to be in order to tune? can you tune in zone 3? I only want this guitar for zone 3, so how would I need to tune?

I guess I’m also curious as to why you’re tuning up on this model? I have my 25.5” in drop C and it perfectly. Do you have a need to go this high at this scale length?
So, I tune it and I turn the headstock pegs until I’m JUST BARELY in zone 3, then back off the pegs on the headstock so that I can bend. You shouldn’t be “playing,” in zone 3. Unless your in a drop timing and want to quickly tune up to a standard tuning
