I love the objective data for scoring. Anybody can just say I like this card or I don't like that card but the numbers don't lie. I imagine compiling all that data takes a lot of work but just know it's appreciated.
As a player since alpha. Red is goblins Green is elves Blue is merfolk Black is zombies White is angels Artifact is golems. All lifelong magic players know, "fireballs can't melt steel golems."
White they have said tentatively is humans, but tbh i feel Kor or Catfolk is a closer representative race. Iconics are the big creatures of the colors, and representative races are the common creatures of the colors
I was a little surprised to not see Kokusho on here. During Kamigawa block I played a mono-black Kokusho + Goryo's Vengeance deck. Accelerate to Kokusho on turn 4 turn 5 swing, Goryo another Kokusho in the graveyard, legendary rule blow up, 15 damage in one turn and you heal 10. It was brutal fun

They never should have changed the art for Shivan Dragon. Everything about that art, the colors used and the way they offset one another, the framing and the angle, it's all so perfect. The card was iconic and it deserved and got an iconic image to make it complete. I still play Red primarily and that card was a huge part of why I fell in love with that color.

Gosh I loved running Thunderbreak Regent in my modern Goblin deck. I used to run a pair for late game and somehow lucked out several times with drawing them just when I needed them.
I would like to honorable mention the original dragon legends, called Elder Dragon Legends. As they spawned a format that thrives and is still popular today, mainly EDH. Chief among them was Nicol Bolas, who is rumored to be returning in his walker form in the next block.

A fun historical/flavor bit on Stormbreath Dragon: its name is likely a reference to Stormseeker, a green sorcery from Legends, the text of which is functionally the effect of Stormbreath's Monstrosity ability. So from a flavor perspective, the Monstrosity is the dragon using its breath.
I can't argue your criteria or rankings, you did a well thought out and put together list for this one, bravo. I would like to honorable mention Mirrorwing Dragon for it's very interesting ability and combo potential, Skithiryx the Blight Dragon because Infect+Regenerate is plainly absurd, and the oddball Slumbering Dragon for it's uniqueness and the effect it has on early game decisions your opponant makes.
Rorix was a part of a precon standard deck during onslaught, a blue red morph deck, skirk alarmists, chrome shell crabs, imperial hellkites, dermoplasm and such.
DL silumgar was the first rare i got after my small hiatus from magic, while im not in the competitive scene, he is the ace of my best deck and is my favorite card that i have
Dragon Tyrant is the best dragon in the game. He costs like a billion mana to get out. You must pay another half million every turn after he's in play. He'll never get to do anything because any opponent that sees him coming for them will inevitable have removal in their hand. But he is still the best dragon in the game. It's been my dream to one day actually get the opportunity to attack with him.
I'm new (not even a week) into mtg, and looking to make Commander with dragons my thing. Bought Draconic Domination to start, and ALOT of drags on this list seem to fit synergy of the deck (if not just raw-value on their own). Thanks so much for making this!
Enduring scalelord is a great green-white dragon, if you can get two out and find a way to put a counter on one of them you will essentially have two creatures with infinite power and toughness.
Kolagahan sees play in both Vintage and a few Legacy Dredge builds as a Dread Return Target. Dromoka\Ojutai both have seen some Nic Fit Legacy play as well where Dromoka sees alot more play then Ojutai. In reality Silumgar and Atarka are the least playable out of the cycle. They are still very good though Thunderbreak Regent also sees some Legacy play in Dragon Stompy(Blood Moon decks using it as a finisher but has fallen alittle out of favor due to Hazoret the fervent and Chandra tourch of defiance)
Shivan Dragon is a win condition for a lot of games I’ve played because if they don’t have flying or removal by the time I play him I pump him up to 12 or 13 and normally at that point in the game I win.
Keiga represents more of a 3-for-1 because you have to kill Keiga, you lose a creature, and you have to kill the stolen creature - it was backbreaking back in the day.
Ugh, I realize that I did the same thing back in Kamigawa block for Eiganjo Castle (I still think of it pronounced this way), but Japanese is not German. "Ei" is pronounced in Japanese like in "neighbor" and "weigh". And everyone tended to pronounce Keiga correctly from what I recall, so it's strange to hear someone pronounce it wrong. Even worse, you then pronounce the "ei" correctly on Yosei!
Atarka, World Render is a pretty awesome Dragon. Since we have Rhythm of the Wild, it's even more awesome. Maybe only edh and homebrew decks use her though...
I know Kilnmouth Dragon is technically bad, but it's super fun in casual play. Though I purposefully avoid competitive formats because it's not quite as fun being forced into a very set number of decks if you don't want to be stomped.
I expected the Dragonlords to be higher but that might be because I play a Niv-Mizzet Reborn EDH deck with all of them in it(They will be soon. I don't have the money for Dromoka and Ojutai yet)
I think that Hypersonic Dragon should have been on this list. For (3)(U)(R), you're getting a 4/4 flyer with haste, and it gives all of your sorceries flash. Even if it was never played during the Pro Tour, it's still a good card in my mind.
In my opinion Thunderbreak was better than Siege Rhino and the only reason it didn't see as much play is because red was mediocre during its run in standard. Very few creatures can take out a Thunderbreak on curve and direct removal costs a bolt to the face.

I remember when me and a buddy first started to play magic when I made a burn deck with a few cards in the whole tarkir block which was three different sets. So I had two of the mardu and two of the storwind deck (I think) with the dash and hast ability, and all he wanted to say was how I had broken the game lol. Four years later he summons almost 40 tokes all at once to the field and gains life for each one, and gives em first strike and vigilance. Now who wins?? My red black hasty dragons or his white tokens? Depends on if I draw into lightning to be honest lol
I don't know how useful Thundermaw would be against spirits. If you're serious about them then you likely have at least one honour of the pure, drogskol etc. But the tapping hurts.
What about lathliss, dragon queen. Every time a non token dragon enters the battlefield Lathliss, the dragon queen creates a 5/5 red dragon token with flying

At 8:24 you say the legendary rule was diffrent at the time which is not true. Kamigawa brought the rule change that if you played a legendary Creature the first 1 played would go to the graveyard and the second 1 would stay. Also the tag Legend was removed and replaced by the now known "legendary Creature - type". Source: started playing at mirrodin when kamigawa came around 10 year old me was blown away by these awesome legendarys!
You're wrong. The Legend rule did change in Kamigawa, and you're right it removed the "legend" creature type and created the "legendary" super type, but you're wrong other than that. The initial rule was that a legendary creature could not be cast if there was one in play with the same name. Kamigawa changed this rule so that you could play it, but both legendaries would go to the graveyard. The rule you're talking about wasn't introduced until Magic 2014. So Kokusho and friends worked the way I say they do. Source: I also played at the time and well before it. There are representative races (goblins, merfolk, etc. ) and iconic creature types (dragons, sphinxes, etc.,). They are not the same thing.
Black Lanner you are using the Wizards' definition of "iconic"

So angels are iconic not representative. Same with golems. I would say myr, constructs, or thopters are representative of artifact.

I couldn't believe Sunscorch Regent wasn't on this list. It has won me so many more games by itself than any other dragon on the list.
I loved the Kamigawa dragons.

Just for note, Keiga the Tide Star, Kolagan, Atarka, and Domoka are all female.

What about ancestor dragon? It costs 6 mana to cast, is a 5/6 and you gain a health for every creature you attack with

Formats like standard prioritize efficient value creatures like dragons, while eternal formats prioritize fast combos.

Kamigawa brought the rule change that if you played a legendary Creature the first 1 played would go to the graveyard and the second 1 would stay. Also the tag Legend was removed and replaced by the now known "legendary Creature - type". You're wrong. The Legend rule did change in Kamigawa, and you're right it removed the "legend" creature type and created the "legendary" super type, but you're wrong other than that. The initial rule was that a legendary creature could not be cast if there was one in play with the same name. Kamigawa changed this rule so that you could play it, but both legendaries would go to the graveyard. The rule you're talking about wasn't introduced until Magic 2014. So Kokusho and friends worked the way I say they do. Source: I also played at the time and well before it.

+Tammas Dexter Those are "representative races." not the same thing. Iconic creatures are big usually rare creatures.
