  • Pedigree analysis by suman bhattacharjee - This lecture explains about the different rules of pedigree analysis. It explains how to find a pedigree based on characteristics with examples as dominant pedigree, recessive pedigree and x linked pedigree.
    Dominant inheritance - affect shown in every generation
    recessive inheritance - skips generation
    X linked recessive trait - Male offspring are affected more.

    Attention please.
    Pedigree no 3 can be both x-linked recessive or autosomal recessive..
    Very important to look again and again ..
    Both possibilities are applicable..

    • @pranjalkumar7693
      @pranjalkumar7693 4 роки тому +29

      Yes there is no any probability of x linked pass father to son but there is also a probability is that trait comes from mother...

    • @KJKP
      @KJKP 4 роки тому +7

      At 15:55, Shomu says that, in X-linked recessive pedigrees, the trait NEVER transfers from father to son.

    • @enoch9019

      Both can apply here

      @@KJKP but if both parents are affected, then the daughter is getting it from the affected father and the son is getting it from affected mother.

    • @liteducks
      @liteducks 4 роки тому +21

      Because both father and mother are affected in the second generation, it is hard to discern whether the sons received the trait from mom or dad therefore allowing both autosomal recessive and x linked to be possible

    For the third question, from the diagram you can deduce that it's either x-linked recessive or autosomal recessive. It's unsure which one of the two is correct though, need more information.
    Additionally, for the fourth question, it doesn't have to be x-dominant, there're other inheritance patterns that fit that pattern...

    Practice pedigree #2 and #3, I see it as being "Autosomal R" & "X-linked recessive"...
    The rules about skipping generation and male to female ratio don't entirely eliminate x-linked. those rules are not always reliable.
    Care to explain?

    Yaa it's an nice outlook we can lay emphasis on x linked dominant if we see in the chart the ratio of transfer of disease from moter to son is more than father to daughter so it can be a x linked dominant

    In pedigree 3 in case of affected father do not pass traits to their son. But sons can be affected by affected female..
    But affected sons can come from affected mother, and affected female can come from affected father...
    Why not x linked recessive or dominant...
