Pat Metheny & Lyle Mays……the Greatest composing/arranging team in modern music history. The piece is their tribute to jazz piano great….the late Bill Evans. The original recording by Mays & Metheny is truly exquisite.
Wonderful. I'm so glad y'all made this. I've listened to this masterpiece in the original album many times, and it's awesome to see it actually transcribed, giving me a better grasp of the song.
Supremely beautiful, heartfelt. Wonderful idea to scribe it for piano! The many momentary reminders of Ravel are even clearer this way. Which is not to imply that that’s what makes this composition great. 🙏🏽
Beautifully played and transcribed, given how very improvised some parts are, especially the second half. I do understand that there can often be a dilemma about how to approach general harmonic intent, but to my eye the mixture of sharp and flat accidentals - sometimes within the same measure - can be a bit confusing. I totally sympathise, in the sense that if there's no obvious root tonality, what choice is there? In some of my own transcriptions if I choose a root then I find myself suddenly beset with double-sharps and double-flats and no one really wants that, right?
tal vez hayan en el lenguaje un catálogo inagotable de expresiones para indicar admiración, pero ahora solo tengo en cuenta esta: ALAVRGAAAAAAAA QUÉ HERMOSO
Hi Nicola, could you tell me how I can order a pdf of your piano transcription for September 14th (Metheny and Mays)? Thanks in advance for your answer. Best Regards. Alain (Piano Tuner in Western France)
Ciao, grazie, il mio spartito è possibile trovarlo in vari siti, comunque inserisco il link nelle info. Non c'è un costo ma se si vuole c'è la possibilità di un'offerta di sostegno tramite paypal, attraverso il mio sito.
Easily one of the most beautiful compositions by Lyle Mays and Pat Metheny... and that's saying a lot. To enjoy a deep dive, check out Rick Beato's breakdown of the composition here: ua-cam.com/video/qLhE720V4Co/v-deo.html
