Hey, welcome back to the Loops fan community! I’ve been waiting for that vid ☺️
Love your energy and the expression on your faces 🤣
So good, too, to hear your appreciation of that DL concert
Work Shit Out sure is a firecracker, a white-knuckle ride. And even in Jonah’s first key solo, there’s this simmering energy….
With Aron’s drumming: I always get a lot of rock drummer vibes, but then also everything else.
And whilst I totally appreciate you guys not want8ng to dive into their music for now, lest you spoil the First Reaction effect 😉, maybe you could check out some of DLoops’ interviews on the tube. Always very informative. Also, there is an interview with Henrik on Bass Magazine/Songified where he explains some of the workings of these tracks.
That instrument running in the background: a berimbau. It adds so much of that latin feel which DLoops have in a lot of their songs.
I hope you’ll get a chance to delve further into this song, in your own time. There’s so much to discover on second, or third, or even 100th listen ;)
This CD, Phoenix, is one of the best things which ever happened to me as a birthday present, and it’s playing on my car stereo on loop, together with their first album Loopified 👍✌️🤘👌

Glad you appreciate Dirty Loops! Great that you got to experience them live as well, so you know they can perform in that format as well. And yes, they most certainly are very nice, they have fun, and they don’t take themselves all too seriously.

Hearing you speak in one of your first break about Aaron being a "rock drummer" knowing what was coming later in the song made my day :) ! Great reaction video. As another comment suggested, "Hit Me" would be a very interesting follow-up. Prepare some pillows to catch your dropping jaws though ;). Cheers!

Insane craftsmanship. IMO, the drummer comes across more from the Jazz world, he's got some serious Snarky Puppy vibes

Great reaction, i´d love to catch them live - lucky you have so much more of their stuff to react to & enjoy - why not try "Bitten by The Kitten" - then "Baby" or "Hit Me"

Great reaction - keep them coming. Glad to hear you enjoyed their show. I saw them for the second time last year and in a bit of a fun setting actually. They were the top name at a christian music festival (and the only reason I bought a ticket - though I got some great and very diverse concerts in the bargain) and in those settings I think there might have been a bit less musicians than at many other concerts. But people still were so excited and it was the concert with the biggest crowd! Going to see them again in November in more usual concert settings.

The base sound you ear It's traditional Angolan instrument Berimbau. It was popularized by slaves in Brasil. Greatest player Nana Vasconcelos. He played with Pat Metheny Group. About Jonah , vocalist he is a pianist as formation ( in childhood was part of coir). But he is a composer, harmonizer and pianist . Is influences very patent on this song are Lyle Mays / Pat Metheny. One day, he start singing...and oh boy those vocal runs are out of this world. Is voice Stevie Wonder and MJ. He as solo projects, Richard Bina, Steve Vai. Go check it out. Obviously Henrik and Aaron are top notch. Aaron it's also composer end edits videos. Check interview with Rick Beato. Cheers and more DL reactions !!!

Stewart Copeland was never the "drummer of Sting", or even FOR him.😂 Stewart was the drummer of The Police which he co-founded and was the main song writer in the beginning. After Sting quit and took his ego elsewhere Stewart put his full concentration into his incredible soundtrack work.
Sting used the great Omar Hakim for his earlier solo works and in later years had been collaborating with the awesome Vinnie Colaiuta.🤙 Great video and nice to see the added concert footage with your thoughts on the show guys, thanks.✌

Great reaction again and I really think it was a bold and fun decision on your part to go and see them live after just two songs 😄
About what kind of musicians they are, the thing is that they’re all so well educated from early years up until the Royal Academy of Music, and are highly skilled in different genres. And they did work as session musicians before DL.

Great reaction to an equally great song! I'm curious as to how it compared to the live performance. Your comments and facial expressions during the clip suggest that perhaps the live rendition was perhaps a bit less nuanced. As to performances on the recording, I was immediately struck by a few Jazz references...
Henrik's playing from beginning to end had a real Jaco Pastorius vibe. It's the only DL song I can think of where he plays a fretless bass. Jonah's piano solo heavily referenced Lyle Mays' work with the Pat Metheny Group. And Aron's drumming throughout the song (especially the solo) sounded like a cross between Stewart Copeland and Dave Weckl.

Jonah told in an interview. That Jonah and Aron transcribed the final studio take so they could play it during the video shoot. In according Joans, Aron hit all the notes.

Vinnie Coliuta and Dave Weckle….those 2 drummers I hear in his playing. Vinnie played Stings solo stuff on drums and both drummers played for Chick Corea…..which also has piano style like them….nice nice shops!!!!

Omar Hakim and Manú Katche were Sting's most talented drummers IMO, back in the 90s.
Copeland was with Sting in The Police.

You'd love Dirty Loop's honorary «parents» : a canadian trio named UZEB. Specially at the end of their career (1991). Bass (wouldn't hide if he had to duel Hendrik), guitar, and a massively underrated drummer. A taster : ua-cam.com/video/iY6Fgda55NQ/v-deo.html

They seem to have gotten over the fact that Jonah and Henrik are shy. The love of music and artistry are not always compatible.
