To answer the fingers question: Alex Hirsch just found that 4 fingers worked better for some character designs than 5, so it differs from person to person based on what's better looking
Genuine Machine your wrong,4 fingers has been going on in cartoons since cartoons began, alex is just doing what every cartoonist has been doing for thousands of years, this is nothing new
Ever since I noticed that, I've just been headcanoning that in the universe of gravity falls it is normal for people to have either 4 or 5 fingers. It explains why some characters have 4 and it doesn't take away from the weirdness of 6.
The fact that the Pines twins have no reaction to the ground shaking, either at night or at the party, is because they're from California. They're used to it!
Californian, (born, raised, and escaped) here. Nah, we aren't "used to" earthquakes. They don't happen all the time. I've felt very few of them. Then again, I'm from Turlock (in the Central Valley) and they're from Piedmont (the Bay Area), so they're closer to a fault line, but still, I think the only quake they might've ever felt would've been the 2007 Alum Rock earthquake.
Earthquakes! you get used to them, especially for those of us who grew up with them. “Oh, another earthquake? Meh, that’s not big enough to worry about… (goes about their day)”
In a future episode, you’ll meet Bill Cipher’s rival: Tad Strange. He disguises himself as an average human in the episode he was introduced in, but don’t be fooled. He plays a big part in the finale.
I can't believe Mosco noticed the finger thing. The older the GF characters age the more fingers they have. Babies are born with 3 fingers, children and teens have 4 fingers, adults have 5 and finally the elders have 6 fingers. I'm exited for the episode when we discover McDucket 6th finger lol

Trust us, season two of _Gravity Falls_ is going to be one of, if not the best thing you'll ever experience! (Apart from _The Owl House,_ that is.) Anyway, Zombie Soos being exactly like regular Soos, just also hungry for brains, and the smartest among the zombies, is absolutely hilarious. Also, the fact that Dipper trusted those government agents feels kind of out of character.
I think Dipper trusting the government people makes sense tbh, he just wants an adult to believe his theories and stuff about this weird town, and Stan kept pretending Dipper was just an imaginative kid..
i think it works to show how eager dipper is to figure out the big mysteries, i dont think dipper at the start of season 1 would have trusted them, but dipper is getting desperate since its in the second half of summer and he still feels like he is stumbling around in the dark surrounding the big mysteries, does feel like dipper should be a bit more sceptical of the government considering his love for conspiracy

Oh man, this is the point where it gets *intense*, I love the second season of Gravity Falls so much. Stan busting out the brass knuckles is one of my favourite moments, it’s such a game changer to have him no longer pretending not to know… and Wendy being chill and helpful is so nice, she’s my fav. So glad you’re enjoying too! (Also, as another California kid, I second what another commenter said- we’re used to it. Earthquakes just… happen, here.)
Ah finally the second season, man I can't wait for the big scene where it's revealed Old Man McGucket has six fingers on his casted arm and wrote the journals! It was so tragic to find out Bill Cipher crashed his Ford car, resulting in him developing amnesia and breaking his arm!
"This must've been a Halloween episode" Nope, welcome to the new standard for Gravity Falls. If this is the new normal, then imagine how traumatizing the actual scary episodes are.
Ok the reason the gloves have six fingers is there was an alien that crashed in Gravity Falls and set up a lab to fix his ship Stan just moved in and tried to make money with the leftover tech.
The different numbers of fingers is just a character design thing, it isn't relevant to the show at all. Which makes things a bit confusing with the six-fingered hand symbol showing up again and again. Wait... Six fingers? The Author of the Journals must be... COUNT TYRONE RUGEN! The page in the credits of this episode has this code: "THE MAN DOWNSTAIRS IS VERY CLEVER CAN HE HIDE HIS PLANS FOREVER?"
Just wait until Stan's bat skills become the center of a trial episode starring Phoenix Wright! So much lore behind his perfect zombie-headshotting! Okay, but seriously? Editor did a GREAT job this episode!
I think that tattoo-shaped wire-work on the roof of the shack is not a weather vane, but a radio aerial. Must be connected to all that stuff in the basement.
There is an episode of "Dipper's guide to the unexplained," where he investigates Stan's tattoo. The UA-camr, "Secret Screenings," has a great video where he goes over it. He was pretty much the Preston Jacobs of "Gravity Falls."
I prefer an in word explanation that having four fingers is just as common as five fingers and thus not considered weird. But having six fingers is very rare and thus weird.
What you noticed about the kids only having 4 fingers is what's known as the Million Dollar Finger. When Walt Disney first had Mickey animated, he drew him with only 4 fingers. This saved a million dollars in animation. Ever since, it's become pretty standard in most cartoons to only draw characters with 4 fingers unless you're seeing a close up of their hands. The adults have five fingers here because their hands are much bigger, so the missing finger registers, but not so much with the kids. Basically, it's just to save money.
youre getting so close to uncovering the mysteries of gravity falls, like when stan................................................................................................ (X) IT IS UNSEEN (X)
Most people have so much going on at that age that they don't remember when the extra fingers grow out. And if the one who wrote the journals had six fingers on each hand, they must be super old. ...or an alien. I vote for alien.

Here is a list of mostly everything I am currently watching: Lego Nexo knights s4e4 (probably more watched before the end of today), Pokemon s22e1, Yo-kai watch e34, Star vs the forces of evil s4e2, Miraculous tales of LadyBug & CatNoir, Fairytail e205, PJ masks s5e5, Yu-Gi-Oh Sevens s2e3 and Winx Club s5e16 (Just say something and I will explain why I am watching a little girls show).
And a list of shows I completed/Up to date: Amphibia, Sonic X + Underground, Dragon's Dogma, Fullmetal alchemist 03 & Brotherhood, Deathnote, Blue Dragon, Merlin, Terminator Sarah Conner chronicles, A-Team, Two & a half men, Phineas & Ferb, Gravity Falls, Owl house, H2O-Just add water, Worlds end "Suka suka" (I believe in it to have a season 2), Lab Rats + Elite Force (EF technically season 5), Mighty Med, Digimon Fusion/xros wars (nothing before that...yet) and Ben 10 Og. Note: Milo Murph's Law doesn't count, I still have the last half of season 2 to find. Including Big Hero 6 Series, Big Bang theory, NCIS, Scooby Doo, and Tom and Jerry. This should be all of them.
When you draw characters with realistic proportioned fingers they usually have 5 digits. When drawing exaggerated cartoon proportioned hands 3 large fingers just don't fit without making the already large hand wider. So for smaller size characters like Mabel and Dipper they have 3 instead. It is weird when attention to detail is a big deal in this show and one of the plot points is the author has 6 digits.
This was the start of the fandom asking "Who is the Author?" and also you can now find the FBI in the background of every episode this season. my leading theory, the Author is the goat. He was transformed by the carpet. fandom hint 2 Look at the Cypher Wheel try and see if you can figure out the symbols
I love this episode for a lot of reasons. It makes it clear that the story picks up from here, it has one of the most badass Stan moments, and zombie Soos is one of the funniest things ever
Skinny arms look kindof odd with regular fingers so the creator made an artistic choice. Hope you enjoy the journey! It's ok to take a slower day when you need!
I believe if you look closely, in that scene with the government agents where Dipper has three fingers and the adults have four, once Dipper is handed the agent's card he suddenly grows an additional finger. Sometimes, as was said, it's to keep proportions looking good, other times it's because it takes more animation effort to animate more fingers. In this case I think it's for appearance. In the old Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol, different animators did different sections of the cartoon. One was better at doing fingers, so in most of the cartoon, characters have a thumb and three fingers, but in one section everyone has an additional finger. I think it's just for maximum fun!
Even if the agents did have guns how would a hand full of bullets do anything to zombies? We clearly see this episode that nothing signifigant happened when parts of there bodies are damaged and the zombies don't blead out either so really the agent had the right idea when he succssfully crushed the 1st zombie's entire head.
This season is much more plot filled that the first. I can’t wait until you learn that the answer to defeating Bill was the friends we made along the way.
One of my favorite details from this episode is actually Tyler (the "git 'em" guy). You see him once in the episode when he shows up to the party. Now think back to Ep5 "Dipper vs. Manliness". Tyler was locked into the Mystery Shack at the start of the episode because he couldn't decide if he wanted to buy a puma or a panther shirt. And guess what he's wearing in this episode? A shirt that's half puma, half panther. Sewn together. He bought both. Also the cipher from the end card, if you're interested, was: The man downstairs is very clever, can he hide his plans forever?
"They're gonna be useless, aren't they?" They did get dragged away almost instantly, but one of them also saved Dipper by caving in a zombie's skull with a rock. That has to count for something, right?
Story-time: Alex Hirsch was apparently so burned out from working on season 1 that he considered actually cancelling the show entirely, but saw how into it the fanbase was and decided to finish it after all. He originally planned to do 3 seasons (like the 3 journals) but after the burn-out of making just one, decided to scale it back and tie up the show with only one more season. As such, season 1 is a little slow-paced at times, with a bit more filler. Season 2, however... basically every single episode is solid gold. It's either amazing comedy or brilliant plot reveals, simply put there isn't a single dull episode in season 2. It's just hit after hit after hit, all the way until the end.
I wonder why there were so many corpses under the Shack. I sure hope there's an episode later that explains it. It could take place at a party maybe, in the Northwest Mansion even.
it's not that the adults have more fingers than the kids. it's that people having 4 or 5 fingers is seemingly completely random, except for the cover of the journals and the glove Stan wore at the start, which both have 6, something we've not seen on any person yet
I think youre so close. Stan's tattoo is the weather vane... from an alternate dimension. Think about the multiverse... alternate dimension Stans switching places. Two nearly identical Stan Pines accidentally switching places and now switching back. Sorry guys, I just had to tell her. The tattoo is the ID for his world, his shack. The other Stan (originally from our world) has the WHAT tattoo.
"How did they sleep through that?" When we had the U.K earthquake, I slept through that, and I had no idea until my dad told me about it. And I was born in the U.K, And haven't left. I'm impressed. Waddles knows. What if he learns human language and tells them. Stanford is screwed. 5:08 you can see the dino tooth from Land before swine. The fingers, no promise was made. 19:22 season 1 didn't do this. There was also a Black light edition of Journal 3 released. Too bad I don't have neither of them.
Agent Trigger's first name is Chrono in my headcanon. Because I love Chrono Trigger. Amazing game, inspo source for my own too. I Googled, his canon name is Jeff Trigger... I prefer Chrono Trigger.
I can't wait till Mosco finds out that Soos was never cured from zombification he beats king Dorito by eating his brain and becomes the god of all zombies cementing himself as the true main villain of gravity falls
I’m finally watching your Stranger Things reactions. I LOVE YOUR OLD BAGPIPE THEME. It’s a shame you got rid of it. I first noticed it in your first few Owl House reactions before it disappeared.
This isn't a spoiler (fake or otherwise) but an animation thing: I think the reason the adults have 5-fingered hands and the kids 4 fingers comes down to the cartoony character design. A lot of the times you simplify lines so if you have thin noodle arms like the kids do, tacking on that 5th finger onto the hand would make them have huge hands when compared to the arms or thin creepy fingers in order to fit them all into the continuous silhouette. A lot of cartoon characters have 4 fingers for this very reason. We're supposed to assume all characters have "normal" hands unless the narrative points it out for some reason, like they keep pointing out the 6 fingers on the journal cover and the 6-fingered glove. Source: I'm a concept artist that's also worked as an animator :D

except for the cover of the journals and the glove Stan wore at the start, which both have 6, something we've not seen on any person yet
Omg I’m soooo early this was 4 mins ago!!!
Ikr!
Don't look at the titles for future episodes because one could give away the big reveal.
He wasn’t closing the secret door he was closing the vending machine door they would have seen it if it was the secret one
Dipper raises the dead.
Mable finds this a minor inconvenience.
Time to rethink your life choices kids.
11:10 corpus levitus
19:30 what about the other pages
I think youre so close. Stan's tattoo is the weather vane... from an alternate dimension. Think about the multiverse... alternate dimension Stans switching places. Two nearly identical Stan Pines accidentally switching places and now switching back. Sorry guys, I just had to tell her. The tattoo is the ID for his world, his shack. The other Stan (originally from our world) has the WHAT tattoo.
That arc always reminded me of "Bioshock Infinite."
Crikey!!! Mosco has finally made it to season 2 of Gravity Falls!!! Just wait until she discovers the portal actually leads to the Demon Realm!!!!!
Today's end-credit code translates to: "THE MAN DOWNSTAIRS IS VERY CLEVER - CAN HE HIDE HIS PLANS FOREVER?"
:o oh my gosh you have the makkachin tissue box 😭😭😭 I just noticed lol
"How did they sleep through that?" When we had the U.K earthquake, I slept through that, and I had no idea until my dad told me about it. And I was born in the U.K, And haven't left. I'm impressed.
Waddles knows. What if he learns human language and tells them. Stanford is screwed.
5:08 you can see the dino tooth from Land before swine.
The fingers, no promise was made.
19:22 season 1 didn't do this.
There was also a Black light edition of Journal 3 released. Too bad I don't have neither of them.
16:06 my ears must be lost in the gutter somewhere cuz I just heard her say "spookkake" 😂😂😂
He was turned into a zombie, funniest shit ive ever seen
Oh, next episode you get to see Wendy's new boyfriend.
I’m finally watching your Stranger Things reactions. I LOVE YOUR OLD BAGPIPE THEME. It’s a shame you got rid of it. I first noticed it in your first few Owl House reactions before it disappeared.
Yaay just 6 minutes late
And it's not just this episode deeper will make it worst... he's still just 12
Please, someone send her a US one-dollar bill, so she can see Bill Cypher's portrait on it.
I just notices your rukia pop in the background. Are you a bleach fan 😊
I recommend you watch the shorts that released before Season 2
The characters are losing their fingers with each generation
