    hey fran I used to watch other boxing instruction videos at martial arts videos since stumbling upon your videos I am now switching over to everything about you in my training this is exactly what I need first off I love the fact that you're much more calmer and more professional when your online giving and instruction versus everyone else who's loud and Goofy and unprofessional that means a lot to me the introduction and the first impression is often the most important it's what brings a person in the door going to start looking at your videos and practicing what you teach on a regular occasion thank you so much I'm out here in Southern California but I'm originally from Manchester England cheers

      Hello Robert, a man from my neck of the woods...a short 30 mile hop up the East Lancs Road :-) Thanks for your kind words. I know I can sometimes come across as a little quiet and maybe boring, but it's just who I am really mate. Works well in the gym and although I don't have a huge online following I like to think that those who do watch my stuff do benefit. Thanks again mate, appreciate you taking the time to comment.

    Fran I started to learn how to box around three months ago now and i find that your videos are super informative. When you actually break it down on video it is easier to understand. thank you

      You're not wrong. Even better, we went back to Chinatown in Liverpool for a meal straight after (got there about 2.00am). Graham convinced Colin that the wonton soup contained sheeps bollocks...bought it hook line and sinker. Right environment equals the right flow in my opinion. I spent years training in Thailand as a Thaiboxer, and had some fights there to. I always loved fighting there and in training I always felt great. Always able to flow in padwork and on the bag, in sparring and in the ring. This was mostly in Bangkok. Fought in Pattaya 1 time, just wasn't feeling it on that night as I had a bad experience ( unrelated ) a few weeks before plus the crowd on that night was mostly tourists who knew nothing of the sport. Other than that one experience all my fights in Thailand were enjoyable and I always loved training there to

    I know what you mean about flow I am a bricklayer and when I get warmed up and in the zone the laying process is effortless and smooth and quick and I don't even seem to think much about what I am doing and when I do think it's all clear in my head and I am full of confidence in my abilities at that time, I have also felt the flow on the heavy bag and funny enough when I hand dig foundations I get right in the zone and really get a buzz from it as I see it as part of my training regime , I do really wish I could train more and do more running but having a physical job makes it difficult to train more than three or four times a week which is bloody annoying as I love working out on the heavy bag and practicing your utube uploads i have come along really well with my footwork as I have went from someone who was really static (although I never thought I was static until I realised my footwork was really appalling) to moving really well constantly around the heavy bag and every now and again I can plant my feet and leave serious dents in the heavy bag but will keep at it as boxing is amazing for fitness and if you love boxing like me it's shite going to do a physical job and being to knackered to train sometimes wish I was one of them big girls blouse who worked in a office I could train every day then but I am what I am, keep up the great work Fran you are class👍

    Thank you for that story and there was useful information in there. UK boing is no different than any other competition in any sport I believe. I particularly found interesting the idea of not warming up fully if you feel that you cheated in your training so you need to conserve energy.
    I am 59 years old and I play basketball a couple times a week against players much younger. I train like mad in order to do that. I also know I need to warm up more before I play to prevent injury - so I jump rope about 5 minutes before every game. I never thought about it but I will bet that gives me a psychological advantage over the young guys who never do that.
    Thanks.

    • @myboxingcoach
      @myboxingcoach  6 років тому

      What an attitude Steve, hats off to you mate. You would make a great coach. A fellow coach of mine always say boxing coaches don't need to have boxed, but having the experience of competing in any sport will do - I agree whole-heartedly with that view. Keep running rings around those younguns Steve ;-)

    I have only experienced flow during 2 stressful sparring sessions. I just said f it and I just fought, not that I fought without thinking but I didn't second guess myself anymore. Those 2 times were against far better boxers, I didn't win but I held my own. So this makes me think why don't we get into flow willingly when it helps us that much.

      Develop more than one defensive frame learn to bob and weeve, philly shell, and shoulder roll. Then put it all together with footwork. Switch hit, shuffle, dance, drop your hands it can be unpredictable but never abandon fundementals.
