It always blows me away how many crazy adapters and components Nintendo made for these old systems. I can't even believe it, I wish there was a chart showing all of them. Great video man!
I got mine back in the early 90's brand new and still use it today. I love it! The wireless part is awesome because I have my NES up high away from where I actually play (in my garage / game room). The cords would normally hold me very close to the system, but with this I can get back to a comfortable range (with no cords in the way). Sometimes I actually sit about 15' away from the TV at the back of the room. The input is dead-on with no signal lag that I can tell. It works great for zapper games too as it lets me get back to a decent shooting range. The batteries last a very long time. I use this thing all the time and can't remember the last time I had to buy batteries.
+qualorii I use it to play Battle City 4 player hack with my friends it is crazy fun ! and bomber man for 4 players hack :)! I strongly recommended those 2 games! I am wit cord version of that adapter :)
You said playing 1 player defeats the purpose and you kinda see the wireless. The wireless aspect was the main benefit in my opinion. I rarely used all 4 controllers mostly 2 player but the wireless was still the best concept. You could kick back further and leave the satellite on the couch between friends. This was the best accessory for the nes in my mind
Both C and D batteries are very easily obtained in all of North America (from Canada to Mexico), as a fairly wide array of electronics (mainly lamps and lanterns) still make heavy use of them.

Hi, I have recently purchased a satellite and like you it was a disappointment to see it runs on C batteries. But I decided to purchase battery converters. As a retro loving person I thought I may also need them for other devices. Thye are cheap but I don't know if it is common in your area. I bought two sets AA to C and AA to D...
If you have a lot of pongs C batteries are very usefull, especially if you already have a lot of wires running around and/or an outlet with all the plugs being used.
@Swi2ler lets say you were playing silver surfer. in order to shoot, you have to keep mashing the A (or is the B button?) in order to keep shooting. with turbo enabled you can just hold the button down
LMAO "C" Batteries! And 6 of them! The Batteries probably cost more then the actual pad is worth =P I wanna' pick one up and put a rechargeable power-cell in it... I mean it's got the space for it and then some...
A cool little product. I have a pair of wireless Atari joysticks but never use them but they're an interesting collector piece. This NES one looks a little more practical. You can still get larger C and D batteries at the dollar store. Nice review Jake :)
Well quick tip for ya. Ebay is a good source for cheap AA battery convertors. Simple plastic shells that adapt AA to C or D etc. Like $5 I think. I use them for all sorts of flashlights and older toys. And use rechargeable too, makes life easier.
I wonder if it would be possible to run power from the NES itself to the Satellite, or even using an additional power supply. Then again, the Four Score exists.
It just depends. I don't own any of these peripherals, but I do have an Idea of what they do. The Satellite is wireless and takes C Batterys, as MN12BIRD said in the video, and Four Score Plugs Right Into the two controller ports.
Yeah some flashlights do but most I see use AAA, AA or D batteries like the full size Maglite still use D and my small Maglite LED flashlight uses 2x AA's. I always have AA's around, sometime's AAA's, rarely D's and never C's lying around. Esp these days most people have smaller LED flashlights that take 3x AAA's or 2x AA's like mine. I don't even like AAA for that reason if I buy a small LED flashlight I look for one that takes 2x AA instead of 3x AAA.
does the this eat up C batteries very fast cause I rather have this because when I have the nes hooked up to the tv the av cables are kinda short and I would like to sit on my couch and play my nes games without having to get longer cables and have a wire mess
Lots of products use C cells still, mostly portable stereo systems, even newer stereo systems still use C and D batteries, I know because i have enough of them. I'd like to hope the batteries in that thing last a while. Down with wireless devices.
that is like "the dominator master control" by nexoft. only this is a joystick controller with plugs on the sides for 2 controllers kinda like the nes advantage. like to know if you used this thing too and what you think. sure the one i have is 2 player only but it is wireless. haven't had much trouble with it. wait c batteries? that is like the least common battery ever it seems. i would say the next least common battery is aaa at least for me then d and aa
I can't imagine it would be to hard to just stick a DC jack on the side and run a Universal AC/DC adapter to give the same voltage as the amount of C batteries you would need. This is only if one could solder, do some case mods, and doesn't care about keeping it original. if done rite the mod could look fairly nice its not completely wireless but at least it would be wireless to from the console allowing for more options of placement.
I own the four score, Never seen the satellite in the wild. But if you do have one, chances are that it came from the 4 player bundle. Will you ever get to use it though Jake? :D
@GoombaParaKoopa It'snot because of the number of controllers available, but a matter of programming, and with the coding knowledge and cartridge storage space they had at the moment, two players had to be dropped when making the conversion from arcade to NES. If the port (as well as TMNT 3I) had been released a few years (or even months) later, they could've included the 4 player mode, as well as better graphics.
I have an NES satellite I got it at a yard sale years ago. Have never gotten it to work. Held it up to the NES and nope nothin. Maybe one day I can get it out and screw with it some more.
man all the thrift stores in brampton suck. i've been trying for weeks for something besides old sports games, absolutely no consoles, i think the pawn shops have been sweeping them up
better version is with the cord no battery's and crappy IR :D I use it to play Battle City 4 player hack with my friends it is crazy fun ! and bomber man for 4 players hack :)! I strongly recommended those 2 games!
Hey MN12BIRD I was wondering if you could do a shoutout for a channel called NewGenGamers They've made some amazing videos like their "Console Wars of the Past" series but havn't quite really gotton off the ground yet I think they deserve deserve a shoutout from an established youtube channel anyway, great vid, keep em comming =)
@8NIKKU8 ok depends what you are talking about. from the way you said it what "rc batteries". i am guessing you are talking about radio controlled car rc batteries. they are used in radio controlled cars to give it power. if you are using some dumb aol speak where r is really are i am guessing the the look like others between d and aa. why can't you just use a search engine. take a wild guess why you need them that is if that is what that y was for. i hate aol speak. it is so dumb.
That's a pretty sweet little addition for the NES. I like how it matches the styling of the NES Advantage.
Whoa, found a wild LGR comment from 10 years ago!
It always blows me away how many crazy adapters and components Nintendo made for these old systems. I can't even believe it, I wish there was a chart showing all of them. Great video man!
Bill the Fifth your wish is my command, have fun ! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nintendo_Entertainment_System_accessories

i used to have 1 of these for my nes as a kid. loved playing super spike volley ball/ world cup soccer with 4 players.
Batteries like those is easy to find on the internet nowdays, and of you get one today 2018, it would be resonable to get them recharagable.
Both C and D batteries are very easily obtained in all of North America (from Canada to Mexico), as a fairly wide array of electronics (mainly lamps and lanterns) still make heavy use of them.

i saw that at goodwill and i didn't know what it was until now
@Swi2ler
lets say you were playing silver surfer. in order to shoot, you have to keep mashing the A (or is the B button?) in order to keep shooting. with turbo enabled you can just hold the button down
You can still get C batteries fairly easily here in the UK.
Interesting. Thats probably one of the only periphrals Ive never seen for the NES. Great video!
LMAO "C" Batteries! And 6 of them!

Nintendo release a player's guide book for the satellite
I love the marantz brand I have a model 1090 console stereo amplifier :D
Always innovation before its time.
holy shit this came out before the four score, proving that the wired version was better
Cool. I like the name. The device is bound to the console by it's IR link, so is in effect a satellite. Great review :)
A cool little product. I have a pair of wireless Atari joysticks but never use them but they're an interesting collector piece. This NES one looks a little more practical. You can still get larger C and D batteries at the dollar store.
Nice review Jake :)
It’s like every single wireless controller
Well quick tip for ya. Ebay is a good source for cheap AA battery convertors. Simple plastic shells that adapt AA to C or D etc. Like $5 I think. I use them for all sorts of flashlights and older toys. And use rechargeable too, makes life easier.
+1 for Every nerdy video in which you can spot a cat^^
@8NIKKU8 tell me you are kidding. they still selling them in stores if you look. maybe look up on google too?
Very strange, just bought my first nes off craigslist and found the same marantz receiver (in the background) at goodwill the next week
I find it odd that Nintendo decided to release a wireless 4 port peripheral before releasing the wired Four-Score.
I wonder if it would be possible to run power from the NES itself to the Satellite, or even using an additional power supply. Then again, the Four Score exists.
Yeah, I'd rather have the four score since it's more compact and doesn't need batteries.
Any idea how much this cost when it came out in '89??
Nice Marantz
@bigM10231 Or even easier: get those little plastic convertor shells that turn AA sized batteries into C sized ones.
Simple question for everyone, which is better the NES satellite or the NES four score?
yes
Chris Spreitzer which is better?
no
It just depends. I don't own any of these peripherals, but I do have an Idea of what they do. The Satellite is wireless and takes C Batterys, as MN12BIRD said in the video, and Four Score Plugs Right Into the two controller ports.
Four Score, no question.

I remember this my friend has this.
During the october snow storm, all the stores were cleaned out of C and D batteries.
question...can you plug a four-score into aSattelite? it would probably not work but...
does the this eat up C batteries very fast cause I rather have this because when I have the nes hooked up to the tv the av cables are kinda short and I would like to sit on my couch and play my nes games without having to get longer cables and have a wire mess

i had that!! but the batteries had corroded the compartment away..and i didnt have the wireless part..for it.
They fixed the wireless issue a year later with the NES FOUR SCORE.
I can't imagine it would be to hard to just stick a DC jack on the side and run a Universal AC/DC adapter to give the same voltage as the amount of C batteries you would need.

Everything you said from about 2:20 to 3:06 explains exactly what happens when me and my friends try to play GameCube.
I own the four score, Never seen the satellite in the wild. But if you do have one, chances are that it came from the 4 player bundle.
Will you ever get to use it though Jake? :D

what do the turbo buttons actually do during gameplay?
@StickPeopleAndPuff i think he already did actually like 2 years ago lol
wow i have one of these , but no adapter...
i saw one of these but didn't know what it was. wish i got it. oh shit the cat is back!!!
this would've been better if the NES Satellite make 4 players play super smash bros for the NES. That would've been cool.
Can you connect another NES Satellite to a NES Satellite?
que tipo de pila usa AA o AAA
I have an NES satellite I got it at a yard sale years ago. Have never gotten it to work. Held it up to the NES and nope nothin. Maybe one day I can get it out and screw with it some more.
Will it work for the toploader model?
George Maguire It's basically a rapid fire.
wow shadow cat at 4.37 :D
@james42519 guessing that they*
thats true i only keep AA, AAA, 9V, n D. Would been easier to make it D
No one uses C batteries? I use them for flashlights.
@StickPeopleAndPuff Ha ha good one.
man all the thrift stores in brampton suck. i've been trying for weeks for something besides old sports games, absolutely no consoles, i think the pawn shops have been sweeping them up
I have the box for the satellite.
Use it with 1 player defeats the purpose? I don't think so. It's the novelty of it being wireless, not just 4 players.
umm.... didoes? don't they use D?
cool
You must be young if you didnt know what size batteries it took !!
I got the NES satellite for free!! but it did not come with a receiver. And that sucks.
Just get a AA to C battery converters :D
you should do a review of your cat
i wrok at a Kmart and i see C batteries all the time just not in a six pack.
@StickPeopleAndPuff yes please do!
and your car
Canadian Tire has C batteries lying around....
@StickPeopleAndPuff -.- why would you want a review of a cat..
Cat!!
It makes the NES look like an M.C. Escher painting. A logical fallacy!
better version is with the cord no battery's and crappy IR :D I use it to play Battle City 4 player hack with my friends it is crazy fun ! and bomber man for 4 players hack :)! I strongly recommended those 2 games!
easy mod. mod it to take AAs or AAAs or a 6 volt battery
9 times out of ten they don't work .....Four score is a better option
I herd u had a cat. 4:48
@8NIKKU8 in other words he likes looking dumb and using chat speak
@10072018 people with lifes
i have C batteries lol
Hey MN12BIRD
I was wondering if you could do a shoutout for a channel called NewGenGamers
They've made some amazing videos like their "Console Wars of the Past" series but havn't quite really gotton off the ground yet

Boring... show us some 4 player phootage!
