Independence Day Special: Manipur - Ex-Servicemen Vow To a Resolve to Stay United in a Divided Land

As India celebrates the 77th Independence Day, the Nation has come together with a stronger resolve for unity and diversity. The wounds of Manipur is felt by one and all across the Nation. Team NTT caught up with Ex-servicemen in Imphal, who all belong to one community but their hearts beat for their counterparts from the other communities. They have all served in Indian Army and shared their experience of service to the Nation, one that wouldn't have been possible without the support of others who might have belonged to a different community or ethnicity. Tears rolled down the eyes of soldiers who long to meet their friends. "We will meet soon" is what they promised to each other. They speak over phone with soldiers from different communities everyday to keep the hope alive that this divide in Manipur will come to an end soon and they will get to meet each other sooner. Manipur as a state is one of the highest contributor in per capita ratio to Indian Armed Forces. While in service, people from both communities have fought for the Nation to protect the integrity of India and thus they are bewildered as how this divide in Manipur is possible when the binding emotion is India, the patriotism. The soldiers say, nothing can and will ever be able to divide Indian Armed Forces and that the uniform will unite the people of Manipur once again. They are certain, the uniform will lead by the example of unity as our soldiers irrespective of their communities or ethnicities will stand up each time, every time for the sake of the motherland and will fight with their last drop of blood for the Nation, to protect the Nation and to protect each other.

In army there is one thing which is above all religion. There is no force in the whole world which can compromise it. And that one thing is the 'Country'. Nation is their religion and national security is their prayer. This nationality forged the strong bond called brotherhood among the soldiers. Back in Manipur they are put up against one another, but somewhere at the border they are guarding our country together. May the wounds be healed without a scar.

The kukizo were never outsiders as claimed by the meiteis.
They have shed their bloods equally like any other tribes did.
I wonder why the meiteis want to chased away the kukizo.
Just to remind them, they talk about the kukizo that they have saved them from being killed etc. But they need to know the fact that, today if people outside manipur remember the meitei or their maharaja history.
I would say it's because the kukizo protected their maharaja.

During their maharaja times, they wanted protections from the kukizo men's and today they are calling the kukizo illegal immigrants.

Meiteis are not saying all kukis are illegal immigrants, they are just demanding NRC on certain base year (1951) or (1961) irrespective of any communities but most kukis condemned the initiative for some reasons.

Peace as neighbors after separate administration
All meitei evil masterminds. This is fully one sided.
Claiming that Kukis came in at 1945, they had been walking the land of Manipur hills before any of these ex-servicemen were born.
What united they are talking about ? The meitei chased out kukis from state capital and valley areas.. the women group are not allowing food supply to hill dist.
The kuki people chased out, killed and raped the Meitei people from Moreh, Kangpokpi, Churchandpur, etc. The Meitei people retaliated the same. If kuki had not started the whole drama, we would have been living in peace. To hell to those who are responsible. Why should the Meitesi keep on showing the soft side when we keep getting stabbed from the back ??

When there is only Seperate administration, we can only have peace and understanding, bonding each other...... But if there is no proper solution with politically and understand, there will be no peace....
Both sides of the community should raise there voice for separate administration in order to have peace and understanding between the meitei and kuki.
This is not about the desires of separation but it is a must to have separation.
Dear meitei brethren, if u want peace n to love each again... You should support the seperate administration,....at that time our future generation could able to step inside the valley and hills peacefully though they are from different administration or different state.

And other side, kuki-zo had been never ever killed just the innocent meitei...No one couldn't denied the truth in this line because we have evidence in this matter.
Burning each other house and killing in the war/defending from the attack has a massive differents.

Hard to stay united when the community still labels one as a whole in a negative light.
That would be a wrong conclusion my dear brother.we meitei people don’t consider all our Kuki brothers and sisters as outsider. The video here is the proof of it but it’s sad that nobody from kuki community comes out with the truth. I know there are many people from the Kuki community who share the same sentiment as also seen in this video. They have created this havoc for their political gain only ,please understand ,I’m taking about the so called leaders from both sides.

For instance, on official statements by cocomi they still regard us as narco terrorists and in nearly every interview they label our volunteers as insurgents. Hell, the npp leader even suggested a surgical strike recently. Im not saying we are all innocent, but to put these allegations on official broadcast is on another level.
