I love that her costume is slowly coming together based on the people she bonds with and as she discovers more of her history. I think the format feels more like destiny rather than her automatically having the outfit. It's like her experience and acts are shaping her into the hero she so desires to be without even noticing it. While I do wish the episode was a bit longer, I really enjoyed it.
"It's like her experience and acts are shaping her into the hero she so desires to be without even noticing it." That *does* lean into the "what you seek is seeking you" concept...
In the comics, Bruno's mother was a drug addict who left him with her parents. In this episode Bruno was saying to Kamran that his noni, grandmother, left him some lasagna that Kamran could have just before the drone showed up. Also Kamala's mom mentioned his grandmother when she handed him the bag of food in episode 1.
i really hope they get to bond over the trauma of both being abandoned .. ofc Kamran’s just happened but Bruno needs to express that kinda trauma to someone to let himself realize that he is much better off on his own… i say this from a biased perspective but i jus really wanna see that kind of trauma bond on screen. it’s something that not a lot of people can just talk about easily and ESPECIALLY hard for men who feel they can’t express anything without being viewed as lesser. (once again biased but i feel it’s an important message.)
I agree. I just don't understand why people are not watching this. People do realize she is here to stay as a future Avenger. Everyone is like "ITS NOT CONNECTING". They can't have their own stories that don't involve the others? Either way I love this show.

Episode 6 is directed by the same duo responsible for episode 1 so that bodes well for the finale. The director of episodes 4 and 5 is an award-winning documentary film-maker so that might explain some of the pacing issues that folks have noticed.
My mind went in the same direction! The drone outside the house immediately took me to the "Sentinels going after jubilee" storyline in the beginning of the x men animated series!
Nah, I’d much prefer it if they kept Bolivar Trask as the creator of the Sentinels (partly because of how fantastically fucked up the Trask family are, who would be great as recurring X-villains). Not every piece of technology in the MCU has to come from Tony fucking Stark, jfc 🙄
ONE: don't forget the extra deep diving origin in WandaVision's semi-finale. And TWO: imo, if you're gonna show yourself being a hero, having to fend off shady law enforcement to protect her friends, family, and crowd control citizens seems like the perfect setup for Kamala.
It says something that Damage Control is using drones cleared to implement lethal sanctions. I expect that episode six is going to be focused on DODC and what the heck they are doing.
I absolutely loved this episode. But it does make me question: why were the clandestines banished in the first place and why does najma want to go back so badly?
In the comics they're pariahs for the usual reasons - being just all around awful people - but this version is a mixture of ClanDestine and Kamran's completely unrelated family, with a little bit of Lineage's "we're simply superior" philosophy
Don't expect answers - the writers have no idea. They haven't explained any of the mythology in a satisfying manner. The villains were the worst we've ever seen in the MCU, with constantly shifting motivations and an incredibly forgettable presence. Who can even remember the name of Kamran's mother? The CGI when she died was so so so bad I laughed. There are such wonderful elements in Ms Marvel, with amazing characters and some good historical narrative, but my opinion has changed a lot over five episodes. After the first episode I thought it was the strongest show they've done in a while. Now I think it's the weakest.
Okay so some people had been pointing out that apparently Kamran is some kind of super being in the comics and the power he has are the same ones shown in this episode. The change/adaptation for Kamala’s powers to be more cosmic and more linked to his origins makes a lot more sense now because of the story that they decided to do.
In the comics Kamran is like Kamala an inhuman though. So they were connected through a common heritage either way and connecting it with the cosmic stuff, would also have been easy since terragin and the inhumans come from Kree experiments and the audience knows the Krees already through Captain Marvel at least.
Falcon & Winter Soldiers and Ms Marvel reminds us some real life socia-politic issues. I say they have really good writing. For anyone's who interested in India/Pakistan partition, you may check Vox's Border series presented by Johnny Harris.

You guys gave me an idea: Touching the Noor didn't work for Najma and Co., But it could work for Kamran and Kamala, who aren't Clandestine, surrounding them in crystal and activating their full power potential.
Because they were banished from the Noor so going back is a no no. But, Najma can go back using Kamran's body since he's a hybrid of both worlds. It's been hinted in the previous episodes, "genetics".
Bruno says "Nonna is out of town" and in an earlier episode Kamala's mom sent him home with food for him and Nonna so it sounds like he lives with his grandmother.
The Veil rejected them that's why they couldn't go back without the power of the bangle(s). But, if they infused their power to an interdimensional hybrid being (in their perspective, HUMANS), they can.
I think the veil was a door taking you to where you want to go but can only do so safely for the person wearing the bangle. Kamala wanted to find out what happened with her great grandmother and the train so she got sent there. Kamran's mother originally wanted to get her friends home, but after they were all dead, she wanted to go to her son. A door opened to take her to her son, momentarily, instead of to her home and that somehow closed it while destroying her in the process. And then somehow, that temporary door exposed Kamran to noor, which changed him the same way that the bangle changed Kamala. And maybe the wavy light was supposed to be terrigen (in the comics, Kamran is also an Inhuman and an antagonist). Hard to be sure. Anyway, I enjoyed the episode overall, but yes, it could have been improved by ending it earlier and shifting the whole scene with Kamran and Bruno to a post-credit scene instead. It would have been less jarring.
I disagree about the full overarching plot. I think most of it is really good in the sense of, I like her powers. I like the origin of them. I think the flashback was brilliant and I liked going to Karachi. The red dagger didn’t have a ton of screen time but it was enough for me to want to see more of him. Like I would want him to do the comic line where he comes to the US for a bit or even a full series on his own where he’s fighting in Karachi. The red daggers were not just against clandestine, they were basically vigilantes for the streets of Karachi. I really like kamran even, but it’s the other clandestine that we’re the weak links. I’ve had more fun watching this show then most, they’re just one small weak part in an overall brilliant show. I think she needed to find herself in this episode so she can be the hero who saves in the last. That might just be against the DODC and that makes sense narratively, the villains aren’t the strong point of the series but god damn the rest of the show makes up for it. You’re right I want more nakia and the family. Their interactions with Kamala are the best part of the show. And I can’t wait to see them all again in future projects
@@devar7502 I disagree that it went downhill. I mean I understand where you’re coming from, they used the first three to make us fall in love with her family, friends and world only to spend two full episodes away from all of that and with new characters. That being said, I wouldn’t say those two were bad at all. I love red dagger and want him in more stuff, I love the grandma interactions and her use in character development towards maneeba, and the flashback to partition was beautiful. I do feel like this should have been a season two moment or something to go all the way to Karachi but for what it is I thought it was good. Regardless, the story itself I think is really good for building up Kamala and her friends and family and the origin of her powers. I thoroughly enjoyed episode four and it’s world building and the beginning of episode five, just not a fan of the najma arc. Felt more like a gateway to get to Aisha and kamran being interesting then for najma to be interesting. As a whole it’s one of my favorite marvel projects and I think Iman as Kamala might be the most perfect casting I’ve seen in a while
I loved this episode especially as my mother just left for back to our country for the first time in 16 years this episode hit me cause I’ve never been separated from my mother since I’m an only child and she was my only guardian so seeing this episode hit harder than it should’ve.
I wonder if the final episode is basically setting up what comes next after the series is over. Sets up something with Captain Marvel for the Marvels movie.
My thinking is because the bangle and the ten rings have a connection, and we saw Carol in shamg chi, that we ate going to see her or even Maria pop up at the end telling Kamala something about herself and her connection to the cosmic issue they are facing
The one thing that this show has done, is made me appreciate my family a lot more. I never tell them I love them, even though I do. And they know it. And I know they know it. But man....good parents are great. And...I dunno...just maybe take the time to let them know that they are great before it's too late. I'm high AF.
I said this on another reaction while watching this episode I interrupted “What you seek is seeking you.” As- “What you are seeking is you.” “Wherever you go you’ll discover yourself.” “What you are looking for, is who you are.”
This episode was very touching/heartwarming in the sense that Kamala connected with Muneeba (her mother), Muneeba reconnected with Sana (her mother). The ending did feel a tad rushed, but I’ve enjoyed the various connections Kamala has made throughout these first five episodes. While the Djinn may be out of the picture, let’s not forget about Damage Control; they are very much still a threat in this show.
When her mom picked up the necklace I realized she is gonna make her costume!!! Also I feel like this and the last episode maybe have been meant to be one episode cause of that weird ending lol
This show absolutely blindsided me. It’s so much better then most of the rest of Marvel TV. I really like it. And I didn’t even want to watch this show. 😝
It's probably better than the previous TV shows produced by Marvel Studios. But better than the likes of Daredevil or Agents of SHIELD? Not even close.
My favorite part about the tongue-in-cheek intro on this one is that even as I'm laughing at how they always knew, all along, who Theron was playing, Adam is STILL calling Clea "Cleo." :D
What really grinds me gears about this and other Disney + shows is the run time. This episode is listed at 41 minutes but there are eight minutes and 33 seconds of Marvel Logo Intros, Recaps and End Credits that subtract from that 41 minutes and really give us a 33 minute episode. They either need to make more episodes, make the episodes longer or post the actual run times of the episodes. It sucks to be watching the show and having to do math and see how much is actually left LoL.
I’ve been really enjoying the show but to be honest this episode was very odd to me. The backstory with Aisha was great but the whole Kamala going back in time to save her own grandma, Najma having a complete change in motivation out of no where, Kamran getting his powers and the way the episode ended felt really rushed and didn’t make a whole lot of sense. Hopefully the finale is better and sticks the landing
You watch, episode 6 is gonna simply be Kamala putting together her outfit and saving kamran and Bruno then Kamala says “peace I’m out, see you in The Marvels.” 😅😂🤦♂️
This is not a fighty fight the bad guy and save the city/world/universe story. It’s just a coming of age story about a young girl learning the origins of her family. Lot of people complaining about who the villains are or where is this story going and I’m just like who cares? I don’t need villains, I just want to watch this family hang out and learn things about each other.
I can’t believe that we were never taught this in schools. I went through four AP history classes in high school, and I was never taught that Pakistan was part of India at one point and at the British separated it. This episode had me crying almost the whole time.
I mean, Kamala and Kareem weren't in conflict that much, and it's good for her to have allies abroad. Some Avengers don't even have that. lol As for the final antagonists, I felt like that's obvious. Damage Control or at least its most zealously prejudicial agents coming after Kamala and Kamran. And we have to see how well Kamran takes the news of his mother's death because he's either going to be a defend mission or a sudden threat.
It felt like they didn't have enough material for the backstory episode i.e. usually the ep before the finale......so they had to add some plot to buff up the episode.....Wandavision and Moon Knight had enough material to occupy a whole episode of backstory I believe that is the reason the ending felt abrupt..... Kamala going back and saving her grandmother is an absolute point in time just like the What if episode based on Dr Strange
I had the same feeling when this episode ended, "So now what?" It felt like a season finale, with the part at the end with "Brian" and Kamran feeling like the teaser for season 2...it felt like the start of a new story, not a continuation of the season 1 story, but we'll see how they wrap it up. I hope the final episode is more original than "saving Kamran from the evil government." Also agree with what you said about Kamala...she is a fantastic character and can't wait to see her in more Marvel stuff.
1). you don't get cricket? [stares judgingly]. 2). that aside, oh this felt like a short bollywood film and had so much heart. 3). the emotions i felt when Kamala was pleading with Najma to go back to Kamran! 4) i CAN ATTEST - paratha is life! liiiiffffeeee!
As someone with no familiarity with Kamala Ms. Marvel I originally had no intention of watching the show. But I'm glad I gave it a chance. The art direction is creative, the visuals are stunning, the cast is charming, the musical score is amazing, and I personally was introduced to a part of world history I wasn't familiar with. It's unfortunate alot of people are not giving it a chance because having a brown, Muslim, female teenage hero is "woke leftist trash".
I accidently clicked a straight up Google ad for the 5th time today trying to like this video!!!!! And I love yall so much my phone is still intact and I came back to finish the video -_-
You know why they need an episode 6? You've gotta have an appearance by Carol Danvers (and/or her flerken) and introduce more about Kree technology and/or terragen mist and/or Inhumans. And to see Kamala and Bruno complete her uniform. Her origin is not yet complete. Oh, and maybe have Matt Murdock tell the DODC to lay off the Muslim community. Edited to add: And so she and Nakia can make up.
Thank you, Jay, for articulating the overall show; I kept feeling weirdly 'meh' about the actual plot and wanting more her and her family and friends doing stuff. I found the whole set up for the Clandestines... it felt rushed, they kept making really stupid decisions, and there was so little communicated about who they were and what they wanted that I just... didn't care at all about anything they were doing. But I still love the show, because everything else was so amazing.
Solid episode…just don’t know where they go from here. Rumor from what I hear is a reliable source says Kamran will be a villain in the last episode, but early promo clips show them fighting together so not sure about that. I’m guessing if anything he finds out his mother is dead and initially blames it on Kamala. The DODC has been so incompetent, but it appears they’ll be the final antagonists with I’m guessing some set up for The Marvels. Maybe a visit from Carol or Monica.
Two of the bad clandestine are still alive, and damage control is technically looking for Camala still, I think. I can't be overly critical of the show I have no experience with the comic version and to be fare I don't think the show is made for middle aged men.Yet as far as some of what Disney does Ms.Marvel is ok.Not like my opinion matters. Like what you want be who you are, people. I'm with Jay warm bread, and a hearty stew makes everything better.
Weak parts of the show are the villains and the plot and I think its deliberate to introduce the character easily while making the main focus be on Kamala and the supporting cast. So despite it's flaws I love it, its very different from other mcu shows and movies but that's fine as there are 30+ of those and only one Ms Marvel. After she gets some training and actually becomes the superhero we can see her take on more traditional hero stuff and better villains. Then it will feel earned.
Merging Kamran's family with ClanDestine was a super weird choice and it made both less compelling. But it has also fit Kamala's comics theme of often having to deal with the C-Listers because hey, it's Jersey
@@shanebovell6733 I just don't understand why they needed to use them at all tbh. Kamran is part of 2 different groups of characters they already kinda mixed together for this, that probably could have been enough
Move the Cameron/Bruno stuff to before the Family hug scene. Add a scene after the family hug where they get a phone call or message from Yusuf who tells them that the circle Q exploded. Then end. I feel that would have given it a little more momentum and urgency leading into episode 6.
Here me out... what if the Clandestine Djinn that touched the veil aren't actually dead, just released from their Human dimension forms that were part of their Exile/Imprisonment. That means two of the Clandestine are alive in their Noor forms ready to influence (maybe beyond his control) Kamran. Final battle/resolution in Ep 6.
OK, so... I don't like seeing anyone cry or have tears in their eyes but it has to be said that Jay - you look freaking beautiful when it happens 🥺 UwU
I seriously don't understand nor comprehend the hate for this episode and show as a whole. I really don't. Ending scene notwithstanding, this is once again another phenomenal episode. Honestly, this has been a truly wonderful experience. I cannot wait for the finale!
So before I even watch the preview I have to say this. I for the life of me was having a brain fart and couldn't remember the name of this channel. So I sang the intro to myself. JS. That's some grade A jingle shit. Anyways. Time to watch along. Lol.
The last episode was weird because it felt rushed and forced which continued this episode when we were back in present time. The whole flashback was amazing though, maybe they should have made it an entire episode. They could've given it even more space to breath and really shown us how life was during this time and ended the episode on Kamala waking up again and seeing the portal. I don't know, I just hope they can step into the style of the first 2 or 3 episodes, I'm not a big fan of Kamala's hero outfit that we have seen pictures of but I'm still looking forward to the reveal.
I love that her costume is slowly coming together based on the people she bonds with and as she discovers more of her history. In the 1st epi kamala mentioned bruno does not have much of a family
About Bruno's situation in the comics, hes raised by his grandparents
This episode was very touching/heartwarming in the sense that Kamala connected with Muneeba (her mother), Muneeba reconnected with Sana (her mother). The ending did feel a tad rushed, but I’ve enjoyed the various connections Kamala has made throughout these first five episodes.
While the Djinn may be out of the picture, let’s not forget about Damage Control; they are very much still a threat in this show.
In the comics, Bruno's dayside co-worker at the Circle Q is named *Chatty* Bob.
ADAM!!! you better give Jay his $10
When her mom picked up the necklace I realized she is gonna make her costume!!! Also I feel like this and the last episode maybe have been meant to be one episode cause of that weird ending lol
Yeah and the old album showing mother so stylist
I think she's into fashion
That make more sense
You guys help me get through my days and weeks with a smile and some real laughter. Thank you. Never change Chip and Dale.💪🏽🤎👍🏽
This show absolutely blindsided me. It’s so much better then most of the rest of Marvel TV. I really like it. And I didn’t even want to watch this show. 😝
Totally agree! I didn’t even know about this show. But now I love it!! ❤️
It's probably better than the previous TV shows produced by Marvel Studios. But better than the likes of Daredevil or Agents of SHIELD? Not even close.
@@jackdubz4247 that’s an opinion buddy
Yes Moon knight is still at my top but the show was so unexpected I thought I would hate it at first but now I’m in love
@@jackdubz4247 I was referring to the newer Disney plus shows. Of course daredevil is better then this.
Damage Control is gonna be on their bullshit, so S.W.O.R.D. Carol and Fury, is gonna put them in their place and recruit Ms. Marvel.
Also, check out the Disney Wish Marvel dinner. She is in it.
Knowing the path Kamran takes in the comics, I'm not sure Najma had altruistic intentions when she sacrificed herself tbh
Yeah, this is where the show went off the rails. Really enjoyable 4 episodes but it really doesn't stick the landing.
You watch, episode 6 is gonna simply be Kamala putting together her outfit and saving kamran and Bruno then Kamala says “peace I’m out, see you in The Marvels.” 😅😂🤦♂️
Kamran is going to find out what happened to his mother and blame Kamala. She will then have to fight him. St least that's what I think will happen.
This series really needed to be 8 episodes, to flesh it out
"Spice-wise" is definitely the culinary version of "in Minecraft." And I would very much like it on a shirt please
I love to watch you guys see you next episode
This is not a fighty fight the bad guy and save the city/world/universe story. It’s just a coming of age story about a young girl learning the origins of her family.
Lot of people complaining about who the villains are or where is this story going and I’m just like who cares? I don’t need villains, I just want to watch this family hang out and learn things about each other.
Adam you are forgetting the DODC.. there is still a villain.
After this episode, I think I can safely say that I rank the Clandestines in the bottom 3 MCU villains. Only the Flag Smashers are below them.
Let us never speak of the "Flag Smashers" ever again.
Kamran has powers in the comics.
Thank you Jay. I am glad I am not the only one thinks that. This show's plot is a little off the train tracks.
Very hyped for the finale! 🔥👍🏻
I... fully agree with Jay, this show's real draw and what makes it awesome is just the characters and their interactions more then the actual plot.
It's Jay / And Sherlock / It's ... Previewd!
Some Avengers don't even have that. lol
As for the final antagonists, I felt like that's obvious. Damage Control or at least its most zealously prejudicial agents coming after Kamala and Kamran. And we have to see how well Kamran takes the news of his mother's death because he's either going to be a defend mission or a sudden threat.
I legit, had the same reaction to you guys at the end of this episode.
Like..... Wut. 0.0 😂
This series is blowing my mind. it's just a breath of fresh air and I love everything about this Ms Marvel! 😀
War according to Adam “apparently not a very good time for a lot of people” 😂👏
It felt like they didn't have enough material for the backstory episode i.e. usually the ep before the finale......so they had to add some plot to buff up the episode.....Wandavision and Moon Knight had enough material to occupy a whole episode of backstory
I believe that is the reason the ending felt abrupt.....
Kamala going back and saving her grandmother is an absolute point in time just like the What if episode based on Dr Strange
My guess is that the powers that Kamran got are going to go out of control and containing that is the final conflict.
They still have to deal with the DODC.
I had the same feeling when this episode ended, "So now what?" It felt like a season finale, with the part at the end with "Brian" and Kamran feeling like the teaser for season 2...it felt like the start of a new story, not a continuation of the season 1 story, but we'll see how they wrap it up. I hope the final episode is more original than "saving Kamran from the evil government."
Also agree with what you said about Kamala...she is a fantastic character and can't wait to see her in more Marvel stuff.
The finale will be fighting off the DoDC. Vengeance for the Circle Q!
Here's a hint for episode six.
In the comics, when he got his powers, Kamran became an omega level dick.......
1). you don't get cricket? [stares judgingly]. 2). that aside, oh this felt like a short bollywood film and had so much heart. 3). the emotions i felt when Kamala was pleading with Najma to go back to Kamran! 4) i CAN ATTEST - paratha is life! liiiiffffeeee!
what a great way to end the day with some pReview'd
I suspect it'll also set up Kamran's future Friendly Enemy role too
@@JBWinter That too!
It’s really only WandaVision & MoonKnight that the second to last episode is the origin story. Hardly a pattern.
"Naan bread is maybe one of the best foods." You are correct sir!!
Nice. Let’s go. Right on time.
@@JBWinter Bruh ain't nobody know or care about the Clan Destine so the MCU should take it and make it relevant for the first time ever.
@@shanebovell6733 I just don't understand why they needed to use them at all tbh. Kamran is part of 2 different groups of characters they already kinda mixed together for this, that probably could have been enough
So Noon is the MCU version of Terrigen Mist and the Clandestines were unworthy for some reason... Is there someone in their dimension judging this?
Department of Damage Control is the big baddie. They remind me of a precursor to the those giant robots in X-Men.
Move the Cameron/Bruno stuff to before the Family hug scene.
Add a scene after the family hug where they get a phone call or message from Yusuf who tells them that the circle Q exploded.
Then end.
I feel that would have given it a little more momentum and urgency leading into episode 6.
maybe episode 6 solidifies her BEING Ms Marvel ..... costume and all .... ? we'll see ....
Ah my two favourite reactors reacting to what is quickly becoming my favourite show.
This is my thought whenever a new marvel show comes up, especially this one. I love these guys and this show so much
Here me out... what if the Clandestine Djinn that touched the veil aren't actually dead, just released from their Human dimension forms that were part of their Exile/Imprisonment.
Boys watch the Gandhi movie, might explain a lot and it's a thrilling thing.
So before I even watch the preview I have to say this.
I for the life of me was having a brain fart and couldn't remember the name of this channel. So I sang the intro to myself. JS. That's some grade A jingle shit. Anyways. Time to watch along. Lol.
There is a way to FIX IT so you never forgot, *Randolpho.*
@@AG-co5iu oh I'm subscribed.
