  • I bought this GMKtec nucbox G3 for $199 USD with 16GB RAM and 512GB M2 storage. A barebones version is also available for $99. Not only is it cheap, but it's small, quiet and comes with Windows 11. But is it any good!? This review tears down the machine showing the insides and outsides and what performance is like, I even run it through its paces on Geekbench!
There are a lot of these small 'nuc' box style machines on the market right now, and many are getting pretty performant, so how does this one stack up?!

I recently got the GMKtek Nucbox K6 which is performing well. Bit of a different proposition since it has decent built in graphics for games. I don't know how they produce something like this with RAM and hard disk. I was wondering how the N100 would perform with something like PCem, DOS Box X, etc. Congratulations on the 10k subscribers.

Thanks Evan. As far as I can tell, it should perform great for Dosbox etc. When I get a chance I'll look into it more, but generally it's outperforming my old xeon!

That was not a SODIMM socket you were pointing at, it was for a 2nd NVme. Have you checked for spyware/malware?

Haven't checked for malware yet as I don't intend on using windows for anything but it doesn't come pre installed with any bloat so that's nice. Will run anti virus on it soon though (that's not ms defender, which is already running btw)

This is something I would buy for parents so they can access the internet, and put one on their tv to access streaming content, so no need to have a smart tv.

The keyboard problem may be due to the current capability of the front usb ports compared to those in the rear. I have a keyboard that is current sensitive and that makes it look like it might be a GRUB problem, when in fact the usb port cant properly power the keyboard. Nice video!

It says in the description that he bought it. I get the skepticism - there's a lot of other reviewers & small channels who are clearly being paid or at least sent free GMKtec pcs to review, but I've noticed that theirs usually come with Crucial brand M.2 NVME drives. Since @AIsGeekLab 's unit here has a no-name NVME SSD I actually do believe that it's an ordinary retail unit that he bought himself.

I bought this PC with my own money for my own needs. Note in the video I say that in third quarter and in the description. I have the receipt too if that helps!
