It's very impressive how you got everything packed in there. From the viewpoint it looks like everything is packed so tight. Gives you the feeling that it won't close or fit everything comfortably.
Doesn't look massively far off what some service devices look like. Everything's programmed and may need maintained... even (or especially) the coffee machine.
This is amazing. I don't understand the hate against you not using a 3D printer. Not everyone has ready access to one. I love this cyberdeck because it can be assembled without having to print custom parts and if things break it is easy enough to swap out individual parts. This is like you said, a truly 'ready to go' cyberdeck that is decently equipped for most things one could need. Well done. Subbed.
3d printing is not all the time the to go I like it but I still do metal and woodworking because you get to do it by and not by 3d modeling and get it into the printer so it can do the job for you
Nice, all this without a 3D printer or even just a dremel. I was never able to free hand things as nicely as this, which is precisely why I got a 3D printer to make my cases for me.
a heat shield for that wiring going to the screen will add a nice final touch. You can spray paint it any color to match the build. I would go with red or just keep it black.
You definitely have experience in this. I tried to do something similar and it’s still on my shelf. I got every component but I overthink how to put things together and that’s what’s causing delays. Very nice project since you can use for testing also.
You know, cyberdecks always made me think about hardened civilian mini computers with storage of information and communication in case the main internet goes down. Things such as history, survival and health guidelines, shelter guidelines, and even some entertainment to keep moral up could be implemented in these.

I like these modular systems, with battery operation, and wireless internet access.. like a smartphone. There is a lot of things you can do with a large smartphone, with super powerful hardware. When I grew up, you had to sit at a desk to use a computer, and it was only for basic work, and I mean work. School work, or business work. And you can't game, it's just bad to game. They have them, but that is a bad thing.
There are three types of people watching this right now: people who think this is neat, people who think this is lame, and pentesters drooling on their keyboards.
Seeing the lack of 3D printed parts (I think) and the compact size being completed has entirely reignited my desire to build exactly this. I've had like 10 diff revs in multiple enclosures and was never able to find one that fit "just right". I was also trying to pack in a few de-cased retro game consoles, with a full size Logitech K400 and some Creative Pebble Speakers i took out of their enclosure as well. Thing just ended up being bigger than a laptop every time, even though I thought it was WAY cooler. I think ill scale back my end goals and start with just the Pi4 in the case and move on and up from there. This is a lesson on not flying too close to the sun!! Edit: Didnt watch entirely before commenting. I can see where some potential 3D printed parts must be made. Guess that may be the holding block to my progress.
Coolest custom job i've seen in a long time. So much packed into a small space. If only real life had malware injectors by port. Plug in using your case > run a command on raspberry pi > *hacker voice** "I'm In".
Мужик или гений или безумец. Не знаю зачем эта хрень нужна, но то как всё удалось поместить само по себе гениально, а то что всё собрано на китайских компонентах, само по себе безумно.
I use 2 of those keyboards, they are really good for the size and cost. One I use to be able to keep typing one handed when my cat decides to sleep across my desk and rest its head on my arm
Dope! I'd started a project like this (albeit just for the computer part, no GPIO, radio, PSU) back in RPi 3 era. Still have this exact portable keyboard/pad combo ! Unfortunately the keyboard was my biggest hold up there (really was a bit too unweildy for me). And the battery. Yours really came together great! I like all the features you got in there. And still waterproof (probably)!
I would love to see you stuffing a mini pc in one of these builds instead of a rasberry pi. Probably would need a bigger chassis for better airflow and do some board trimming and extra soldering if possible.
I really like it! I think the only area that looks a bit unfinished are the space to the left of the keyboard below the USB port, and the exposed wires between the two halves. Perhaps the space can be covered with black plastic, and the wires can be wrapped fully with black electrical tape.
But really, that thing is incredible. I made one a few years ago and im a noob but it is not even close to what you have created.
