This is a wonderful album. I put it on play and I am taken away, to some twilight time where every breath is a gift but the air is soooo much sweeterer on the High Mountain Rag! While these tunes play the world is okay!
Really hyped to come across this album x Been lietening to rob stensons gold mointain ep for over a year now and been frailing myself for a year, its beenna striggle to find clawhammer stuff that touches myheart as much as robs record. But ni have to say this album so far is doing so much for me. Excited to listen more throught the summer here in scotland. Cheers x
Great instrumental music, and the vocals at the end were also very nice--a little Grateful Dead, a touch like Neil Young--but still a unique sound. Keep up the good work!
I don't know of its just me but between approximately times 5 and 6 mins, the melodies sounds very similar to that of "big rocl candy mountain" folled by "you are my sunshine ". I could be wrong.
I love your music, and I've been working on learning some of your pieces by ear, but I wanted to ask a question about how you play. Do you have any fingerpicks when you play, or are you using any up-picking for some of the "trills"? Or is it exclusively hammer-ons/pull-offs/slides with clawhammer technique?
Thanks friend! Just clawhammer with a grown out nail, regular old pull offs and slides :) are there any tunes/passages in particular? I’d love to help.
@@banjodruid Right now I'm focusing on The Spriggan - it just grabbed onto my attention like a vice and won't let go. (I figured commenting on your most recent video would be the best way to get your attention - I don't know if you still monitor comments on older videos.) The thing I'm having the most trouble with right now is getting the timing of the strum down - I can hear the chime of the strum in the background, but I can't pin down when the strum actually occurs, and it always sounds way louder wherever I put it than in your track. Do you have any advice on what I should try next?
@@deadrunordtechif Scuzzlebutt doesn't mind maybe I can try and help a little. I play a little claw hammer and my own 3 finger style. Have you tried different ways to strum the banjo? I don't know which one you use but maybe you could try strumming like a guitar and if you already do that, maybe try claw hammer, and if you do both I'm basically useless 😂
Upon closer inspection I was confusing the strum for a hammer-on, hence my confusion both about timing and where the strum is. Whoops I'm still not entirely sure how to handle the "trills" without a hammer-on - I know the strings to pick but hitting them fast enough with downstrokes is still wicked hard. Work in progress, eh?
This puts a big smile on my face. I bought it this morning on Bandcamp.
A thousand thanks my friend
Criminally underrated talent
Your music just appeared by chance in my feed today, and damn I’m happy it did! Great job 🎉
🌿ᛉ happy Ostara ᛉ🍀

This is brilliant. Listening on my boat under the stars.
Thank you.

Good ear my friend. Both featured in the film O Brother Where Art Thou, hence the title of the track “O Brother” 🎶

@@deadrunordtech you'll get it dude. I don't play banjo enough to know a lot tbh XD. I'm just a professional violinist
