I never used to be proud of being a village boy. I was always trying to look like a town person, even if we dont have a house in town. Your transition from the village life to your town persona is amazing. You inspire me to be proud of my village ways.
New on your channel and binge watching. I loved this. Made me miss my gran. This is why we South Africans are now poor: No land and urbanization. My kids will never know this life. Makes me sad.
We don’t call that spinach but it’s commonly known as ‘nyevhe or rudhe’ in Zim which only grows during the rainy season when we plough or till the fields! I just adore the brilliant way you’re preserving our cultures & making the traditional fermented brew... only difference is it takes up to seven days for the brew to be imbibed in Zim..kudos to you , ey ..😜!
This really just shows that we are all from the same lineage and it’s always so fascinating to know of the many similarities we share as Africans, I love this. 7 days? Does it become alcoholic? I would love to travel to Zim one day but more on the rural sides. Oh and thank you 🙏🏾.
Who else salivated when she was eating the oombekes, if you know what I mean 🙈😁 Great content oo. Chopping the spinach kama 😂😁Woven you are the one😍😊my kind of Wambo, ngoe ongoe owala!
Thank you for sharing the Oshiwambo culture. Am so embarrassed we don’t do all these things anymore 😭, it’s a pity, we need to think of ways to preserve our culture and traditions
Thank you Monika, it’s always my pleasure. I don’t think you should be embarrassed, the way the world is mordenizing, something’s are beyond our control.
Watching this from SA, this is the first video I watched and I subscribed, no questions asked. You are so refreshing, I loved everything about this video, very informative, so enlightening and you just made me miss my rural areas. Its really sad that we are modernizing everything nowadays so thanks for documenting this. Give kisses to the little pikininis :)
It is the two Natalia's for me and your laughter. Uuh Eemeke man!! The Okutyava process, Oku kateka, and the whole village vibe. Thank you for sharing ss 👏👏👏👏💕💕💕
Thanks Woven, for the video and all, it's sad when I come to think of it, our cultures are dying out😭 Keep doing the most, proud Namibian, aka Village girl You're my role model🤗💖
We have sorghum here in the Caribbean but we call it guinea corn flour and its already ground to flour, we use it as a main ingredient in a dish called jug jug or use it as porridge. I love some African cultures, here we see hard work which may seem slow to others but you see the end result which is amazing, the movement it makes you fit, is healthy and well done, slow food is healthy food plus no added chemicals to speed the process along and no pollution created or electricity needed just nature and man power, clean living no carbon footprint that's what I call working hand in hand with nature. I hate how some plastics was introduced to Africa because in the ancient days the ancestors never had plastics just use natural items to store they things in, which was much healthier ....never lose your ancient culture to western modern ways okay ? If an apocalypse happen (which unfortunately seem to be happening now for some reason) and all modern electricity and wifi and all that convenient stuff stopped working guess what many tribal cultures would not be affected because they know how to survive without those things.
That's how I call real living,I for one though have a house in the city and spend most of my time in city still much connected to my village life interacting with undisturbed nature.Yes with development things are changing, electricity has arrived even in some of our villages on the other hand life became much easier while on the other some things are no longer thesame.Back in the days to plough the field we used plough and oxen, now we are using tractors,to move from one village to the next we used to ride horses, now we are using cars,to pound Mahangu for flowers we used motars and pistols now replaced by machines.Back then to preserve meat we had to dry it now that had replaced by the refrigerators, back then games were plentiful to hunt now all these are protected and now no more free meat, unless one have to slaughter a goat or probably a cow all these as good as it may sound also have negative effects to tye way of living we know not many years past.
I can't believe it took me this long to find your channel. And I'm glad I did, been missing home lately and this brought me joy. Thanks for your genuine content, maybe I'll join one of your vlogs when return home. Take good care x.
Firstly, you are the daughter my mother keeps praying for. Sis your work ethic is commendable, oho duly iilonga, also the relationship you have novaneumbo vaambuleni, soo much love, Your parents did a great job ❤. I am such a village girl, soo your whole video was soo dreamy to me. Lastly thank you for documenting our culture, content I signed up for 🤸🏾♀️🤸🏾♀️

A new subscriber here from Australia. Your village videos made me subscribe to you because I'd rather see what village life is like in other countries. I already live in a city so I'm not interested in that. I especially love it when the young educated go back during breaks to keep village life alive. You're the bridge between two worlds. As a Westerner, I'd rather watch videos about people's unique cultures, especially from the viewpoint of an educated local; because no clueless tourist or uneducated tour guide who's barely speaking English can convey and translate your life like someone like you who's well versed in both town and village life. Your life is a bridge between both. Bless you sister keep posting these village videos and I'll watch them.
I like what you doing woven us as South African we are shame of our culture, I like everything you did, I wish South African young people would adopt your style and love their culture
Haibo! we're not ashamed of our culture, it's just that South Africa is very different compared to other African countries...it's more Western here everyone knows that. In Namibia they're always wearing their traditional dresses or attires almost everyday...there's no such here. I've been to Namibia, Owamboland. it's beautiful
Watching your videos makes me feel at home. The pounding of sorghum because we didn't have ladies in the house and the coordination makes me miss Namibia, I only come to know about gender roles them when I moved to the city. But keep the videos coming.
Couldn't miss an upload bestie, home girl you are a worrior. Okutya ngo ko village ove kamana, mo town wow xwangu ne. Kundilapo oludalo lange olo unene ngo Natalia, ovakulepe aveshe. Much respect Woven wange, I had to watch till the end🥰.
This content is very rich and raw, big ups Woven!! Just some thought on how to improve your audience's experience, I recommend that you add some of those Oshiwambo beats/drums or rhythms (in between your explanations) to complement the flow of your narration. It will complete the package. Looking forward to the next vlog.
Thank you so much Max, for watching and for the suggestion. I agree, this will improve the experience. I’m struggling to find cultural beats that are not copyrighted though, it would really be great if I could get my hands on these.
Nice.. We eat the same vegetable in Kenya, in my community it's called chinsaga and the English name is spiderwisp or spider flowers/plant.In zim they call it Shona cabbage.. Scientific name is Cleome gynandra.
Ndapewaaaaa😂😂 Beautiful Vlog ever. Natalia from the start of the Vlog finnished me already, I wasnt ready for that Welcome. Wow Oshili omwa longwa uuteku niilonga and indeed your mum is such a super mother, imagine she is also busy with her children working. I'm so proud of you. God bless you guys.
Natalia ohapenge o stressa 😂😂 like there she memorized how I say “welcome to my channel” and now she thinks “my” is part of the introduction 😭😭. Thank you Kaseli (may I call you this?), will definitely tell my mom too.

I like the fact that everybody work at your house. In some household there in the north only those that stay home throughout work. People like you ngeno just sleep while other do the works
Wow,you guys are blessed muna iikuni,we had to get it the hard way bra,to a point where we had to use cow 💩 to cook 😂😂,or meme had to go buy fire wood, eeno nga also when people go to the forest our forest is 150 km away mbela.Seeing firewood like that is a luxury 😂😂. Also that gava pounding was bad news to me coz my hand are super soft, ohe ningi omapuva eehonde 😭🙈. Great content Ndapewa 🙏🏾
I love your video. But the memories... I am almost crying, confession "I am the lazy one." I don't miss this. I am tired from just watching you do this work. So I'm gonna use this video to show my offsprings our culture.
“lil doughnuts or something” 💀💀😂😂😂 I’m recommending this to my mother, knowing very well she will tell me to see what other kids are doing, bc despite that, I know she will love it.😂 Also I’m watching this at 3am and I want water, the north’s water to be specific, directly from the tap ngeno, also oombeke, 🤯 I don’t remember the last time I had that. Wow. GREAT CONTENT MAN.🙏🏿🙌🏿
English is a lie man 😂😂😂 Your mom is my mom, that’s literally her response whenever I show her something on the internet 😭. Also thank you for watching man, I appreciate this ♥️.
My poor big sister😩 ya'll don't rest in your house, otchili i won't be able to survive in your house 😂, but i love how kwitchi, you just do everything, i mean if you don't work Who'll do it for you, big ups for you mahn😘. Lots of love ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

@@naame-owoyeya-malapi2454 ouh, just the way it's done, apart from adding the yellow flour, it's how it's done on the northern eastern part of the country... Shame though.. Guest must taste first.
There’s really no laziness with African parents 😂😂. I love that that there’s a lot similarities between African countries, it’s like we’re live in one global village.
Love your videos,I am from Zimbabwe our cultures are just the same .I would like to know the name of that u call spinach in your language,in my lunguage it's Nyeve, and the berry fruit is Tsvanzva.
Spinach is "Ombidi" in Oshikwanyama her mother tongue and "Omboga" in other oshiwambo sub-tribes. There are 8 sub-tribes under the oshiwambo "language" different accents, different meanings to some words and spellings but we understand each other 100%. Kinda like English American vs British
Thank you Clotilda!! I actually love that our cultures are mostly the same and one can always relate. What I have observed with Zimbabweans though is they can be kinder than Namibians at times and they don’t trouble nobody ♥️♥️. Oh, the spinach is ombidi/omboga. Also, thank you for watching 🙏🏾
i'm South African and this just made me miss my grandmother,Its amazing that our cultures are so similar even the food.much love one Africa
Thank you Lorrenzo. One Africa indeed ♥️
The Owambo culture is something else trust me...I've been to Owamboland and I was very shocked at how different their culture is
ZA were are u from?
Your mom asking about your sleeping cousins at 2.42 is every African mom..... Sarcastic to boot. Love your channel. From Kenya
I keep saying, it’s as if African parents all grew up in one home. It’s like they have a script 😅.
Thank you 💞

Oh, the spinach is ombidi/omboga. Also, thank you for watching 🙏🏾
