I stopped to watch a cowboy action match years ago. One of the competitors came over and chatted with me for a few minutes, then told me they didn't allow spectators. I said, "Oh, I didn't know. I'll move on." He smiled and said, "No, you don't understand, you need to shoot." Pretty soon I was outfitted with a strangers 4 guns, leather, and ammo, shooting a stage. So fun, and great people. I have been wanting to get a rig and do some of that since.

In the very opening you can see air between your trigger guard and frame that front screw is about to walk out. I’ve noticed that with all my single actions as well every once in a while you want to check the screws to make sure they’re not backing out. For the price it’s amazing the quality of gun you can get without having to wait years and pay out the ass for a colt. As Americans we all have a little cowboy in us.

    I have a couple 357 ubertis.
You basically have to blue locktight every screw on the gun or it will just take itself apart. Otherwise, they're pretty great fun.

Makes sense. Considering this design is for a black powder .45 designed to stop a man in one shot. . While the .357 was designed to destroy engine blocks, and stop a vehicle in one shot. .

Screws loosening on SAAs is fairly common. Thread locker is a good way to mitigate this issue. I actually use the Taylor’s version of your gun when I guide here in Colorado accept it’s in stainless and .45 Colt. My CC piece is an M&P Shield.

I have a pair of Uberti's in .45 Colt and I love them. I would love to short stroke them eventually and then pick up a pair of .357 magnums from Taylor. My ultimate goal in SASS though is to load and shoot black powder so the speed isn't super crazy so it's mostly just my preference as a gun nut haha. Everyone I've brought to the range absolutely love shooting my cowboy guns.

Nice revolver, I already have single actions and double action 357s by a couple different mfg. The Uberti price wise in 45 LC would be my next purchase. Since I only shoot my cast lead in revolvers, cylinder throat dimensions vs. bore groove dia. would be my only concern as I've seen some foreign made revolvers where the cylinder throats were the same size as the groove dia. of the bore, not good but I've not heard of any bad things about the Uberti revolvers. Blue thread locker on the ejection rod screw, had to do that with my Ruger BH after I bought it back in the 80s it happens.

Rest on your laurels after the one 75 yard shot. . . That was worth the Thumbs-Up button all by itself. (It is a wise man that knows when to walk away.)
I also liked not shooting groups. Consistently banging gongs at normal ranges shows that the combination of weapon and shooter are minute-of-bad-guy accurate. All you need to know.

Love the finish on those blued SAA's! Nice review! Might have to go and buy one!😊👍👍Despite the ejection rod issue. I own an old Great Western SAA (About 60 years old) and yep my ejection rod loosens up sometimes, so I can see that. I'm no expert at all but I'm sure it happens with other SAA's despite their make and manufacture 😏😌.

Nice videos, always thoughtful and interesting, but the Beretta 92 preceded and was just as important in the scheme of things as the rest, If you consider military applications. However, the black powder revolvers made before 1873 were fine "Old West" firearms also. Maybe consider doing a review on one of them.

I want four clicks. 5 rounds? 6? who cares right? plinking I load 6.. on the nightstand I only load five. Labor must be a lot cheaper in Italy cause the finish is extremely well polished... Also... all my Colts or clones? I want ONE PIECE grips.. the difference is...well.. the difference.

My Pietta (Uberti made) has an 1860 Army gripframe and stocks; a tad thinner and longer than the 1873 grips. Your model may have the 1860 grips on it. I’ve never shot the ejector rod loose, but my first couple times I shot it, the cylinder pin backed out. There is a small indent on the cylinder pin, which, if not aligned correctly with the frame, will back out just from recoil. Nice review; thank you.

  • @ChiP2sumP

I love a good revolver, and the nice case hardening and bluing are a big plus in my book. The one thing that I question is how is the aiming when you have the hammer back? In the one photo you show, it looked to me like you would not be able to see the sights? I assume that was an optical illusion due to the position of the gun and camera, but still...
While I like the look of this gun, I would have to got to the gun store and compare it to the Ruger offerings to know for sure. I like these revolvers as a class just because. I might prefer a Glock 10mm or a Colt .45 government...but doesn't mean I don't love these. I am a lover of all revolvers, and make no excuses for that. I have not one experience with any revolvers other than from High Standard, Colt, Smith and Wesson, or Ruger. I have found that those I mentioned are all very high quality guns, and would trust my life to them. My first was the High Standard .357 and it was a very fine revolver, my only problem was it had fixed sights and did not shoot to point of aim. Then I bought a Smith and Wesson model 28 and I found it to be a great revolver, but since it was a six inch it was very heavy and I got tired of packing all that weight with out a Sam Brown type belt to help hold it up. The Colt was a borrowed .357 and it was fine--except it had a timing problem and spit lead out the sides. I then bought a Smith and Wesson model 19 .357 and it was the best of the bunch--extremely accurate out to 100 yards and was not too bad in the recoil with full loads of .357. My Rugers were all .22 or .22 magnum and worked like a champ and were extremely accurate as well. I must say that this all was during the seventies after I got out of the Army. Those of you familiar with High Standard may have already deduced that.

Help me understand something about the American gun community please. The fact that we can own and shoot guns is protected by the 2nd amendment, paid for with American blood. In the particular case of this otherwise interesting video, celebrating cowboy culture and the American west is a celebration of American culture by Americans. So why do Americans actively enjoy a uniquely American right and celebrate a uniquely American ideal by buying a gun made somewhere else than America? The decline of American manufacturing is a big problem in so many ways, and yet so much of the American gun community contributes to this problem, while many of them very likely complain about our manufacturing decline, by buying foreign stuff. It sure ain't because the foreign stuff is that much better, or even better at all. I have 5 Rugers and 3 Henrys. There just aren't better guns for their intended purposes. And, if COVID weren't a thing, I could get in my car and drive to where they were made and have an American beer or an American whiskey with the person who made them. You say American guns are too expensive. Well I'm not sure that's always true, the Ruger American Rifle is a whole lot of rifle for the money. And if they do cost a little more, own one less gun. It just happens that I can afford 8 guns, I'd be just as happy (and safe) with 6 American guns. This same argument hold for ammo. And while I'm on this rant, the same holds for archery. So for god's sake buy American. If we don't buy American, it won't be long before we don't make anything at all except for hedge funds and real estate deals.

It will sound a lot better if you call it a firearm,it's only a weapon if you use it on someone just a thought

Single actions should be shot single handed, just to be historically correct.

That's the first thing I noticed too. He's shooting it like a semi auto shooter would do. Let the gun flip up with recoil as much as possible, let it ride, like all the old timers did. That is why Colt made the plow handle grip, to let it rotate upwards with every shot. It takes the sting out of the recoil. And great for fast single action recocking the hammer. As the gun comes back down, catch the hammer with your thumb.

Honestly it' is a bit silly to shoot one of these in anything but 45 Colt. It takes away the authenticity.
