Great video, I can tell you I have experienced "exactly" what Hermes experienced. I don't know how I did it, I was not meditating but riding a dirt bike. I was lifted out of my body, and I was floating in a middle place suspended between heaven and earth watching myself ride the motorcycle. I was pulled into a darkness, a swirling darkness and it engulfed me. I was facing east, and I felt it coming for me, first I felt the moisture, then the warmth and then it was before me, the most potent spirit you could ever imagine. It was a red disc, or sun and it took me a moment to tune into this divine mind, but then it happened. Everything was telepathic, and my emotions, memories, and spirit became one with this divine mind. This disc, or divine mind was the judge of souls....he asked me very simply "are you good?" And I said yes. He tested my emotions and found me to be truthful. I could have asked this spirit anything but I was just 14, and I didn't have the knowledge I have now. I asked to please return and he whirled me back to my body. I remember my consciousness or spirit entering into my head directly at the pineal gland. All I can say is "be good!" You will one day face off with this judge, and the things you can hide here on earth, you cannot hide from this judge as he becomes your mind and knows all. This is only a fraction of my experience, because it will take to long to type everything.

Thank you for this video you shed some light on some things I have been trying to understand for a while. I am new to understanding that Hermes created my soul and I am beginning my study of hermetic teachings.
Often, when falling asleep I see the whole room with my eyes closed (I would pat my eyes to verify since it seemed impossible). I knew it was an expansion but didn’t think of it as Oneness. Now to develope this as meditation is intriguing. Thank you.
Fascinating things happen on the "edge" of sleep, very much like what Martin described in this video. When my body "falls asleep" before my mind fully does, I experience hypnogogia, at first subtle and then strong. I feel an unusual clarity of mind. Seeing the room with eyes closed is something I've experienced many times in this state, and I actually think it's quite common. It mirrors what people describe during sleep paralysis (which usually happens on the other side of sleep, coming out of it rather than going in).
This happens frequently to me when going to bed. Sometimes the "light" is so bright I can't sleep. I've noticed when I'm in this state, if I grasp onto a "higher" vibration, I can draw myself into it and let the body sleep without me.

For me, this is the third time I've begun, but this time I feel I will accomplish it, as I can finally wrap my head around it, and also have the dedication I lacked. If you don't mind, I'd like to share my experience. I believe I stumbled across the technique you describe in the video a couple of years ago completely by accident. I was experimenting with edible marijuana and I was lying down with headphones on listening to rhythmic electronic music in the dark, and I started visualizing the room i was in in perfect detail, and I could see it in my minds eye very clearly. I began expanding my visualization to include the hallway to my other rooms, then to the outside of my house, then the neighborhood, and before I knew it my mind merged with all of the space surrounding the entire town. I had the sense that I was high up in the sky, seeing a complete 360 degree view of things, and instead of having any awareness of my body, I felt like I was experiencing the truth that I was everything around me, there was no differentiation between my body and the world. I could still hear the music from the headphones, but it completely changed in nature and I seemed to be aware of entire hierarchies of higher pitched notes and melodies, and as my mind focused on them my mind started spiraling completely out of control, with the music filling all of the expanded space I was experiencing. I shot straight up and my mind encompassed the entire planet, I was looking down on it as if I was observing the earth from orbit, while at the same time experiencing myself as the earth itself. There seemed to be no limit to this expansion, my mind expanded all through the universe and I experienced the greatest ecstasy I have ever felt in my entire life. I could run my consciousness along the edges of entire galaxies and they felt like icy cold electricity- extremely refreshing. Eventually I had the experiencing of looking upon the entire universe as if I were looking at myself in a mirror. Then a voice spoke to me. It showed me many things by flashing rapid sequences of images at me showing some of the secrets of the universe. Ever since then I have spent years doing research and trying to find out what exactly happened to me, and trying to verify the information I received. I was able to verify some of the information when I came across discussions of the pole star and the world tree in freemasonry documents. Part of that research led me to your youtube channel a long time ago. But your explanation of hermetic meditation in this video is by far the closest thing to what I experienced. I have done much more powerful psychedelics in the past and not had any experience that compared to this meditation technique on marijuana brownies. I think you have finally given me the answer as to why. Anyway I felt like I had to share this with you.
It is more important to realize what is behind the experience then the experience itsself. The mind of God is the manifestation side of existence, it changes all the time. What you are is what emanates that mind, you see yourself in the mirror, as you are the material the mirror is made of.
I really enjoy that my high school had a class called world religion. We never ever covered anything like this but it totally opens up the ability to hear someone out about what they believe in a non judgmental way. Everyone in the class was super polite. I happen to be learning about hermetic practices on my own recently because of my own interest. Just a memory :)
These techniques were kept secret in lands where the official religions would punish or kill mystics, such as the roman Empire when it converted to Christianity. In India these techniques could be taught openly. Yet many preferred they be kept secret. I have listened to two of your talks, and 40 years ago! I practiced the techniques of Franz Bardon. When I was in my teens. Then I moved on to the wordly life, and focused on Yoga and now Buddhist thought. I have in those 40 years though, continued to pore over Archaeology Anthropology etc in my occasional evenings - and am fascinated by the wave that came from the Natufians and later the people of Gobekle Tepe and Catal Huyuk - who spread into Eastern Europe and of "Old Europe" of Maria Gimbutas, and the Western Atlantic Megalithic tradition - that seems to have been formed at the intersection of those who had done the great cave art of France the mesolithic hunter gatherers - and the neolithic - as the megalithic tradition seems to start in Northerm France - although it may lay under the sea in Doggerland as well. It would be wonderful to clarify gnostic and hermetic thought - the way Gautama did for India - perhaps such books are hidden or were burned long ago, and the Dacians who had rituals of going into caves for years before returning, enlightened. After having read the Corpus alongside other "Hermetic" authors, such as Burckhardt, Evola, Schwaller de Lubicz etc, I've lately started practicing Bardon's IIH's first phase exercises and discovered your channel. So thank you for your useful videos. But now I've got to ask you, since you're saying that - according to the Poimandres treatise - old Hermetic practitioners weren't "watching their own thoughts, trying to clear their own minds" or doing anything introspective in their meditation: do you think Bardon's exercises on thought check, discipline and void are preparatory to this kind of "expansive" meditation, or are they rather an alternative?
Dear Adriano. Franz Bardons teachings are a complete and genuine set of teachings that will lead you to the highest of hermetic achievements. The course laid out is the perfect path covering inwards focusing and as you progress increasingly outwards focused exercises. Its perfect for someone fully dedicated to the path of an initiate. This is the best path for someone who feels the aim of their life in to attain adept hood. From the ancient texts we still have it seems that the original Hermetic path was a more heart led mystical approach with a focus on enlightenment though harmony, healing and inner joyfulness. I believe that for followers of the Franz Bardon system these ancient teachings can supply great inspiration and understanding and even some alternative approaches but please be assured that for the fully dedicated there is no better course of instruction than the path you are currently following.
Dear Adriano I should have also mentioned. All the exercises of mental control that Bardon presents in his meditations were originally developed with a teacher through training in speech (and sometimes writing). Learning to talk on a subject without deviation, learning to talk from the heart naturally with perfect flow, learning to memorise traditional texts and perform without error, learning to be silent inside and out. All these things where practices before persecution destroyed the community and drove our tradition into secret. I believe that it was then that the practice in these skills became internal.
I just listened to the first chapter of the corpus hermetica 5 minutes ago. And I thought to myself "I need some guidance on how to listen to this" because it was clear to me I was not picking what it is laying down. Then I found your video and thought "this guy sounds like a pedantic douche bag." But I forced myself to watch and I have to thank you for not only showing me the power of my own will but also some humility.

I have a lot of experience with nondual mystical states of ego & boundary dissolution like the one you describe here, but they were all mystical experiences induced by entheogens, so I’d love to learn a meditation practice that would get me there without the whole to-do of preparing for a trip. Learning the knowledge/wisdom of Hermeticism, alchemy more broadly, Kabbalah, theosophy, Advaita Vedanta, neo-Platonism, & other dialectical monist/nondualistic/panentheistic esoteric, mystical, & magick traditions has been a real life-transforming journey for me. I would be ever so grateful if you could assist me in my development of becoming a magician. I am in need of someone with an ability of higher than step 6 to assist me in creating a larvae or astral being on a mental plane to enable me boost my memory to retain information. I find it difficult to focus and although I am of sound mind I am forgetful on retaining information. Franz Bardon mentions a higher magician or student can assist a lower practitioner to further develop. I hope I'm not intruding here. In advance I thankyou for all that you do.

Hi Martin I started meditating on my own after after having had a bit of a mental break down. I lost numerous jobs and did not know where I was. Long story short, In just 6 months a lot of things started happening in meditation which them selves happened the day after my break down. I started seeing things while meditating and vibrating intensely. I even left my body inadvertently in 2 instances. But none of that scared me and make meditation a daily thing now. I also feel that eastern type meditation does not fit me also not to be very pretentious but I am passed the point of concentration on breath. I also tried tried twice now to do guided meditation with my girlfriend and a friend that both can say they have worked on things that I pointed out while doing it. It seams like this always was with me but I never understood why I was like that. Please would have any advice. I am not lost but I feel like nobody but my girlfriend see what I see. Ps: she also started meditating after her owner issues rose up.

Mr. Faulks, what exactly do you think about the people who are advocating that the hermetic system of Bardon is not really the traditional way of hermeticism as it is taught and understood by renaissance thinkers and people like Ficino or Bruno? I did not read the hermetic writings from the older times yet, but it seems to me that Bardon has really a very novel way of understanding the term hermeticism and the associated exercises, as there is not really another system like his. I started seeing things while meditating and vibrating intensely. I even left my body inadvertently in 2 instances. But none of that scared me and make meditation a daily thing now. I also feel that eastern type meditation does not fit me also not to be very pretentious but I am passed the point of concentration on breath. I also tried tried twice now to do guided meditation with my girlfriend and a friend that both can say they have worked on things that I pointed out while doing it.
It seams like this always was with me but I never understood why I was like that.
Please would have any advice. I am not lost but I feel like nobody but my girlfriend see what I see.
Ps: she also started meditating after her owner issues rose up.
Good Day Pierre. It sound to me that you have found your calling but you are lacking a community to support you? In ancient times there would be groups and teachers to aid you in your hermetic path. You may be aware that there are a few of these and that I run my own Seshen School. Is it time for you to team up with others of the same nature?

Mr. Faulks, what exactly do you think about the people who are advocating that the hermetic system of Bardon is not really the traditional way of hermeticism as it is taught and understood by renaissance thinkers and people like Ficino or Bruno? I did not read the hermetic writings from the older times yet, but it seems to me that Bardon has really a very novel way of understanding the term hermeticism and the associated exercises, as there is not really another system like his.
