    This is not about non action, but right action, optimal balance between action and rest. It is not about "not trying", but knowing when to stop, when to retreat. Water can be brutal, forceful, as in Tsunamis and major floods.

      Good point, about water being forceful as well. I didn't think of that. As for non-action vs right action... It's another way of putting it, and it explains the flow from another perspective. Thank you.

      Yeah, it means don't force your way, rather go with the flow. Like don't swim upstream, rather get a ride downstream. Don't strain or busy yourself creating action plans, rather be still and connect to what happens and get carried along, naturally and easily.

    The most prolific musicians and artists I’ve ever known were the calmest and most serene individuals I’ve ever met. I initially found this paradoxical and slowly realized it was precisely why they got so much accomplished.
    For those curious, I highly recommend Manly P. Hall’s “Intensity without Tension” lectures that can be found on UA-cam.
    PS: this video is phenomenal and I have listened to it 7 times. I am reevaluating my approach to life and this is the soundtrack.

    I’ve been flowing the lead of ancient Stoicism and Zen Buddhism lately and really have discovered the power of letting go, being quiet and sometimes just being. It’s so good to see the reflections of this in so many other philosophies and beliefs. I truly feel the real world is in harmony with itself when we discover a ‘way’ is universal regardless of religious ethnic or any other learned belief.
    Thanks for this video, I got so much out of this.🔆❄️🙏🏼

    I’ve subconsciously been aware of this philosophy but never practice it. In fact I told someone recently
    “Stop donig and just be.
    The doing will take care
    of itself”
    Fascinating.
    Now that I’m consciously aware of it maybe I’ll start practicing it.
    Thanks.

    I have never believed in hitting your head against a brick wall. Just go around, climb over, dig under, or sit and admire the bricks. It's a brick wall it is there for a reason. You don't have to be there. The art of side stepping is my biggest asset.

    I absolutely loved this reflection of eastern beliefs vs western culture and the metaphor of the river and water that constantly flows, even if obstructed. This has been a big learning for me to let go of the doing and surrendering. My doing nature, wasn’t comfortable with this. Since I started letting go, my life has brought me amazing connections and opportunities that I am so overwhelmed and grateful to receive. I also loved Amir’s soothing voice.

      I am not in charge of my life. I let it unfold every day. It does not mean I do not do my work. If it gets better, it's a shared joy, if not then we all share the burden. I try not to control my better half, kids and colleagues. Then I am able to get what I want without upsetting folks and able to maintain peace. Of course it needs daily reminders in the form of mindfulness and meditation practice. Thank you@@mechannel7046

    Talk about without effortless and being in the flow, I nearly cried yesterday as I asked Google to find me my cottage. I was lead to a site and the first picture was my cottage. It is advertised as a room to rent in the 2 bedroom cottage, but I don’t care, ask and ye shall be given. But there’s more! 2 weeks prior to this amazing find I drew the interior of the cottage I wanted, I put everything in it and the layout I wanted. And every night I walked through it, room to room and envisaged me in it. The one I found It’s not identical but so close. Just below me away. Thank you for sharing this amazing video.

    I Was tired of looking for Jobs in several plataforms. I went to work the land with ny Hands. I spent 6 weeks learning about Lisianthus in San Felix Hidalgo, Atlixco. Every morning i went to the greenhouse to prepare the soil, cut the "esquejes' and place them in their litle plastic cups covered with plastic. After many trials to have the correct humidity, I finally left behind 97 waiting for life to allow their roots to come. No paid salary. Just the flow and reverence to interact with the plant, así for permission to cut, and while introducing the stick in the soil, thanking them for their new roots Was sufficient for my peace of mind and meaning....Flow was there Every step of the process. Thanks for your video. It made me aware of my new relationship with water.

    That perfect flow can only be achieved when one acknowledges that there is a greater grander will at play , above and beyond our own free will. Only with this realization can we bring ourselves to respect and align ourselves with " the flow " rather than force or attempt to take control of the flow.

    My favorite vacations I spent hitch hiking with just a vague direction in mind. Going wherever chance would take me. Or driving a campervan through France, deliberately taking roads so small they weren't even on the map, taking us to beautiful and surprising places.
    In daily life though, I often get stuck in in-action. Being not at all in the flow.

    Being in the flow as an athlete was easy to understand. I was a skier for 40 years and when everything "clicked" the universe was perfectly aligned. I was addicted to that feeling and at times it did not help the other facets of my life (arrested development). Now, seeking that same kind of aura or state of consciousness, I find myself a bit lost at times. I will continue to gently allow things to come and go as they do naturally. I am grateful for your insightful posts here on the web,

    When I used to play baseball, when hitting, if I had two strikes on me, I would grind my teeth, tense my arms up and try to smack the ball for a homer. I would usually just strike out because the tension in my body didn't allow me to swing in a nice, fluid motion and make contact with the ball. I was so focused on NOT striking out instead of just making contact with the ball.

    At most I let what’s unseen just be,
    You might not understand me and think she’s just lazy
    maybe.
    But when I’m at my most peace and let surrender take over me that’s when I feel most at ease, watching the life I live unfold before me, just to see gods confirmation surround me. Not saying action won’t lead you to the place you guaranteed. I’m just saying, I’ll be lying if I said I wasn’t planting seeds. Just understand as I tended to my garden before this prior ease. The forces of growth only scared my precious seeds. Stunting its growth in the form of anxiety, chaos blazing inside of me. That’s why I say to you…
    Just let it be.
    - I got inspired and created this poem. Thanks for the video 💗

    Beautiful teaching. I think Wu Wei is best understood if you think of life as operating on two levels. This level, the level of the world, is a world of form. A deeper level, the level of the mind, has two thoughts - one of love, one of fear. Wu Wei is choosing love, allowing that to inform your life. Then life just flows. But Wu Wei is still experienced here in the world. Therefore, it must be limited. The truly enlightened person understands that they are not a person at all; they are a thought in the mind that appears to be in the world. This is a subtle but profound difference. As such the purpose of life is not just to access Wu Wei, but to allow it to guide you back to your mind and your true identity as a thought of love, which ultimately leads to the awareness of perfect oneness with God. Here the journey ends. With Wu Wei as a beautiful step along it.

    There's even an application of this that Christianity I think could be said to express this idea, in the sabbath and in trusting and resting, and the ultimate form of trusting and resting;
    Titus 3:
    5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
    6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
    7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
    Not trying to force or bribe God to save us and make us righteous before him by our own works, but by receiving it, through faith, as a free gift by grace. Being justified by cleansing coming down from above, not by upwards striving and struggling in our own efforts. One that allows us to be active out in the world in harmony with heaven, in pure hope and thankfulness for what Christ has done for us, not relying in or worrying about things we do that we could boast in.

    The watching of this video.. pure Wu Weí at work!
    Sat down to rest and take some sun, and opened UA-cam just to let it take me to whatever.. then this video appeared, and intuition led me to click on it. Now taken into this wonderful journey and lesson, I want to put this more into practice from now on in my daily life. Great video, thank you! 💗

    Just wanted to mention, since you bring up Zen, and seem to imply that it originated in Japan at about 6:30: Zen actually originated in China, where it was known as Chan, founded by the legendary Bodhidharma, who was a Buddhist monk who traveled to China from India. And yes, Chan/Zen is widely regarded as a type of fusion of Buddhism and Taoism.

    I’m very lucky to have stumbled on this great philosophy of Wu Wei. It’ll help me a lot.
    I deeply believe this principle is what I have been using most in my life though I’ve never heard about wu wei.
    It’s help me to achieve efficient results in my academics, job and relationships.
    I often thought it was one of the advantages of procrastination and Faith. But now I understand it’s about aligning oneself with the flow of nature.

    There is something in this philosophy but seems we are far away of really understanding it. It’s like playing the game efortlesly, winning the game again and again, embracing the flow state and energy, beeing unstopable. And tomorrow you cannot be even close to that state but you know it wasn’t just the luck :)

    I live my life a specific way and it blows my mind the more I learn about Taoism the more I realize I've been drawn to this ancient idea since childhood. It blows my families minds that I don't seek a $300,000 house, kids, or a wife. It makes no sense to them how I'm successful without spending that money on things that others spend their money on.

    I worked hard for everything I have, even my precious working experience came for a painful hard work. Now I enjoy easy breathy job, and sometimes I think the Universe wants to return to me, bc something else harder was coming my way…taking care of my elderly mom. There is pain and pleasure, hard work,, deception, love, silent hate, commitment, endless commitment, in the process every minute is worth living bc we are growing in the process, another gift from the Universe ✨🙏✨

    Thete is a saying in Hinduism which puts the distilled essense of this video.
    It says that :
    God always wishes the best for his creation, the Humans . Hence Life becomes naturally fulfilling if we go by two dictums:
    a) If what we try for the happens, it is "God's Blessing" and an indicator that it was so ordained.
    b) If it does not, it is "God's Will" which is this way telling us that we need to let it be and he guides us to what would be best for us.
    In Hindi and Sanskrit this stated as " Hua to Hari Kripa nahin to Hari Iksha".
    So aligning with Hari Iksha bestows his Kripa on you automatically and your purpose is achieved since it aligns with His purpose for you

    As an ex pro sprinter, i can testify to this. The more i tried the slower i would run as i used brute force to the finish line. Conversely, when i surrendered to just being present and without trying to control the outcome of the race i would enter into flow state - the trick being present and allowing the finishline to come to you without dipping for the finishline.
