Would have appreciated a more in depth breakdown 😂

Cam, I don't think you need to apologize for reviewing these.
And it wouldn't be honest if you were just like "Each one is better than the last" lol
You're great at really pulling out the nuances of a pour, you wouldn't be doing these GTS batches or Toshi & Matt who sent them, justice if you weren't disecting them and splitting hairs.
    Cheers man!

Great review. I now seem to have to start looking for some dusty GTS. That is going to be great for the budget I am sure.

That whiskey would make an incredible whiskey sour

One of my favorite videos you’ve done! Always fascinated with hearing about how much different that old juice was.

Always enjoy listening to what you get and being genuine about your excitement! If you don't like those two, I know where you could send it so you don't have to "suffer" drinking them anymore! Cheers.

Love the review! I haven't tried any GTS older than 2017. I have been nursing that bottle for the last 6 years!

I think you described why i love the 2020 so much. Its big but clean. I dont like buffalo trace funk, but i love a big but powerful and well tuned flavor profile, like the jack bp special edition rye had. Ive had 3 gts (2020,2019,2022) and my preference goes in that order.

I may be one of those very few that have unopened GTS '08 and '09, I do however have an opened '07 (144.8 proof!) that's great but their WLW counterparts are what's amazing!
On a side note: The 2009 is 16 years old, the 2010 is 17 years old.
    Cheers!

That 08 😮. Maybe I'll get the chance to try it one day. My ranking from the 17-23 GTS tasting I did a little while ago. 17, 22, 18, 23, 20 and 19. I actually added the 13th CO DO (B1) as a stand-in for the GTS 21 that never happened and it took 1st for me 🤷🏻‍♂️

I like the fact that you review them for us, but sometimes you come through like “eh” is not good enough knowing that it is. These releases are always amazing. If you land 1 any yr that’s a W

I think on the whole it’s fair to say they’re all very good bourbons, and I did mention in the video that we’d all be lucky to land any one of them, but I do stand by my critiques. I recognize how insanely privileged it is to be able to taste these 5 all at once and pick them apart, but by having them all side by side, it helps to demonstrate their differences and IMO some of their flaws as well.

    • @jerryhernandez3406

@@DrumsAndDramsI understand what you’re doing here is very difficult by tasting very high end bourbons, and dissecting them clearly for us to ride the experience. Just sometimes I feel that it comes out negative more towards the product than the notes/expirience. Matt Porter’s review of GTS23 let me clearly understand it wasn’t the best, but it was still an awesome release. Idk just my 2 cents here. I’m still a fan of yours.

I have the 2017 and 2012 142.8, both open and getting perilously low. I have had the 2009 as well. The 2012 was the best of the 3 I have owned with 2009 a close 2nd IMO.

Wow! So jealous. Could those older ones be sourced in like 1992 from Stitzel Weller distillery, who were making pappy at the time?

  • @anthonyquaranta5717

Off topic kinda. Isn’t M10b & OF1924 arguably/possibly the same thing? I wonder how 1924 compares to a non 23A M10b. Just got 1924, seems similar to me on the nose.

    • @DrumsAndDrams
      @DrumsAndDrams  7 місяців тому +1

Arguably, maybe. Who knows what’s actually in M10B, but if the BF sourcing rumors are true, it could be. But there could be other differences, like entry proof etc., that we don’t know about. I’ll compare 1924 to some of the samples folks have sent of non-A M10 barrels.

@@DrumsAndDrams new conspiracy, 1924 is budget M10b. Ha, love what you’ve been doing with the channel lately and it’s good to see your work paying off.

May I suggest that that whiskey ages in the bottle. A bottle of unopened whiskey properly stored for 10 years will taste better than it would have 10 years ago.

Unfortunately, I have to add this to the growing list of “bourbon was better back in the day” reviews. I would agree that this would be more fair if blinded to take away age bias. It’s interesting that your order of preference ended up being exactly oldest to youngest.

I am confused. I don't if you are describing these whiskies as oxidized or having TCA.
your descriptions or The way you describe them seems to be problematic.
The descriptors like funky, tight, dusty, and development. It seems like you have multiple faulty samples
