    I have owned an MT10 for 4 years. When I think maybe I should consider something else I take it out and get that hit of exhilaration and remember why I love it. It's a keeper.

      Exactly. And even if it's an MT07 a few hundred quid ( far less than some shitty exhaust ) will turn it into a giant killer. It works all the way up as the engines are the beating hearts with bullet proof reliability.

      The MT10 will do it all as a sports tourer. Being a naked it's a blank canvas. Touring screen, bar risers and some luggage and you have one fast and sporty sports tourer with its cp4 engine being its heart and sole.

      Ive ridden the 2016 R1 and the fuelling on that was fairly snatchy... I found the fuelling on this MT10 to be excellent and didnt feel any issues really. That being said, Im sure all Euro 5 bikes from almost every manufacturer would benefit from a remap from a performance/smoothness point of view. Thanks, Aaron KNOX

      I don’t think I would ever get tired of that engine. It now has all the other components to match. Yamaha brakes are so much improved by simply changing the pads. I’m sure the stock pads are made out of wood 😂

    • @KnoxArmour

    You can save £4K and get the standard mt10 with fully adjustable suspension. Still dialling mine in to my preferred sweet spot. I'm sure sure the SP is great but £4k is a big chuck of change.

    • @KnoxArmour
      @KnoxArmour  Рік тому +1

      Great point. And with £4k, you could get full aftermarket suspension which will be better than the OEM Ohlins on the MT10sp. Aaron KNOX

    • @stevecade857
      @stevecade857 Рік тому

      @@KnoxArmour At my early point in ownership I have no complaints with the standard suspension. With its adjustability and a little knowledge and effort most riders could find settings that suit them. Rider weight being, above or below the manufacturers expected average, the point requiring an upgrade imho.
      The SP does have braided brake lines which would be at least a £200 upgrade for the standard model. Hoping my £40 EBC sintered pad upgrade negates the slightly wooden feel the brake have. They're powerful enough, just lack initial bite and feel.

  • @exothermal.sprocket

    One thing Yamaha and Suzuki can't seem to get right is their brakes. Why don't they just go with Brembo M50's with stainless lines and be done with it?

      I would say real world road riding the MT10 is hard to beat. However, both the superduke R and Streetfighter are sensational... in the end, I guess they are all called supernakeds for a reason and give an incredible amount of excitement. Aaron KNOX

    The standard pipe looks OK as well compared to some of the competition which often look horrid. The previous MT10 was quite juicy I was told. I wonder if this one needs a bit less quenching its thirst after you have let the 165 horses have a bit of a galloping. Some might say "irrelevant".

    You say the bike has 165 hp? Did you put it on a dyno or are you just repeating what someone else is saying? The reason I ask is I've seen one on the dyno and it was only around 136.5 hp. That's at the rear wheel.

    • @KnoxArmour

    Interesting… I always considered the MT-10 a beast that is an outstanding value, built around an impressive, proven engine. I’m surprised you would call the electronics, wether sport bike or naked, “market leading” considering the Panigale & Streetfighter exists? Much more $$$, but not better? Also brakes, regardless of ABS intervention, I can’t believe they wouldn’t be better w/ Brembo Stylema, best brakes I’ve ever ridden. Again, more $$$, but, if $$$ not an issue & simple comparing. Great, great value here, but would be spanked by Streetfighter, & Multi V4S may even hang

    • @KnoxArmour
      @KnoxArmour  Рік тому +3

      Thanks for comment. Definitely, the Yamaha electronics on R1 and MT-10 I would class as market leading. They are incredibly sophisticated, and while it was virtually impossible to put them through their paces on the road on this test, I have done so on track with the R1 and they are simply incredible.
      In terms of the brakes, you are right, the Streetfighter brake set up is miles in advance of the MT-10, but again, while I think some of the improvement comes from the hardware, I believe the ABS set up on modern Yamaha's is really the big issue.
      Thanks, Aaron KNOX

    • @petrolhead.corner
      @petrolhead.corner Рік тому

      No way a Multi V4S will keep up with an MT-10, the Streetfighter has a Panigale V4 engine which feels gutless before 7-8k rpm but the MT-10 has a broad spread of power which is arguably much better for the street. Talking about performance I agree the Streetfighter would spank it but there are aftermarket mods available for the MT-10 like a turbocharger which would reliably boost its power to 230-240hp at the rear wheel. That’s not possible with the Streetfighter V4, it’s engine will be more prone to breakdowns. I know I’m being biased but this is also the truth
