Unfortunately this is not true in this case as slime's spawn rate is only influenced by moon phase in swamps, and the slimes spawning in Markus' mine is the slime chunk method of spawning.
@@rotisseriepossum No, augmented reality games and alternate reality games are two different things that happen to have the same acronym. but where else could this possibly go, you can't just perpetually sustain the eerie environment with no climax, if you think it could be done better why don't you do it yourself?
@@EmiWiwhat do you mean? The best horror stories are the ones who know where to end. They're the ones who have no clear ending. What we make up in our mind will always be more scary than reality, which often ends up underwhelming. You absolutely can sustain an eerie environment with no climax.
@@catscanhavelittleasalami I agree, but horror these days, especially mainstream, is about the narrative, the conclusion that it brings at the end. I also enjoy the horror with no clear conclusion as well, but that’s not what horror is about in recent times. Though, it does seem that people are starting to make vague horror stories like that again.
30:27 Actually this is a bug in old versions where if you walk down a staircase of blocks, not touching each step for long enough to create a footstep sound, it will play every missed footstep sound in quick succession once you do stand on a block long enough again.
OH MY GOD thank you, I was just playing Alpha 1.2.3 and had this EXACT bug happen to me while walking down my mine stairs, and I tried looking it up to no avail, but I still kept this video in my mind. Now I know what it is
So it gets delayed when walking and touching each step. It just counts it and waits until you stand on a block.when you do, the step sounds plays at once.
The character of Markus must be the bravest man in the world. If I saw anything that could qualify as an anomaly in my world then I would leave and never touch the world again.
Heh. In a bedrock world a while ago, I had this weird glitch where a roughly 18 block tall, 12 wide, 1 thin wall of dirt, stone, or other blocks with some tall holes in it would appear out of the ground and occasionally would disappear after relogging. I called the “entity” that made it “Factoryman” because the wall kind of looked like an old factory wall. If I had seen this video I would have left the world and never returned, but nothing ever happened other than the walls.
@@TheWhiteSpy No, not really. Roblox is a game where you are usually filled with other people in the game. Minecraft is empty. Nobody. "Single"player. The world is so incredibly vast, and you are the ONLY sentient being in the world. Are you sure? Is there something else out there? You can't know.
fnaf got ruined so fucking much, honestly the smaller a creepypasta about some monster is, the scarier it is, atleast for me with the exception of few cases
@@user-mn7dk2mt8j Yeah it was, but I miss old creepypasta-style stories, and this story started as one of those. Eventually, when multiple entities were introduced, it lost it's shine- in my opinion.
This started off as a interesting creepy pasta but then introduced a bunch of characters and a new plot that I think didn't really need to be added to the story
Indeed. I think that such is often the unfortunate case for a lot of ARGs. They are made by story writers who get too caught up in plot development, and they often forget about what made them scary in the first place.
Yeah, i think people like psi and star mightve been needed but like markus’s friends, checkmark, void entities probably should have had more purpose, maybe these will have more of a purpose in act 2 but idk
It's the I need to overexplain my plot points syndrome, just like any creepypasta/backroom type shit it needs to get shit explained for no reason instead of leaving the unexplainable unexplained or vaguely explained just like the first 15 minutes of this video, giving characters emotions and thoughts is bad because the viewer can imagine something far beyond what the writer's comprehension is, at least FOR HIS OWN entertainment (which is actually the CORECT way to write stories like these if you want most positive feedback). It's exactly like the what's in the dark dillema. You and your friend are taken by force to an undisclosed location and put in 2 different rooms, in the corner of your rooms, total darkness. Your friend gets told that there is a person holding a knife there, he is distressed but you are being told that there is something there in the shadows waiting, no matter what, you will ALWAYS think that the unknown is scarier because your brain makes you the special monster that it knows it will scare you, it's the same with this, those characters could be anyone your brain thinks there is , the monsters could be coming from a lot of places, if it gets explained it stops being a creepypasta/horrorARG and it starts being a basic sci-fi horror-like story. I understand there are ARG fans that like this type of stuff where there are crossovers but I find them overused already.
@ige_3599 The metafiction stuff is super cool but there needed to be a bunch of more intrigue and middle section between the two. You can have "spooky alternate reality invasion through minecraft" and "the whole thing is metafiction that technically IS affecting reality in a memetic way" at the same time... but not if you just brush off the first part and jump into a bunch of weird character narrative and skip to the end point. It weakens the metanarrative punch tons too, IMO.
Id actually be smashing the whole setup, nah you know what… demolish the whole house, wipe the ip, move countries, change names and live my life in the trees somewhere in vietnam alone.
I mean, it is a smart idea and I personally think it was executed well in a majority of the scenes it was presented in. It's easier to animated, with the added addition of making it seem like it's literally eating away at your hardware.
No, it's revealed in season two that they recorded the whole thing in 1.12.2 The entity are model display entities from the "blockbuster" mod The players are also recordings from the same mod. Blockbuster is super handy for creating cinematic stuff in mc
Okay, those void spaghetti shadow demons were actually kinda creepy. Mostly because of how hard they contrast the Minecraft art style. If it had stuck with that angle and followed the more "traditional" corrupt and/or haunted game motif it could have probably been better overall. That second half kinda derailed the plot into some other dimension of absurdity.
* crazy how if it DID stick to the traditional haunted game plot, you people would complain it's unoriginal. there's no pleasing the minecraft creepypasta community i swear
I'm an adult, but this kinda scares me because it reminds my old fear of playing Minecraft survival alone, because I watched too many Herobrine, Entity 303, and Null videos on UA-cam when I was a kid , it's a weird feeling of a nostalgia
With how most of these args just seem to lose the plot entirely, i honestly fully believe that itd be better to just end it off at a high note with like a video going "yeah then i stopped playing Minecraft cause i got scared"
I love how this ARG, in some weird way, is a love letter to online story telling and the nature of ARGs themselves. It’s lowkey poetic, but at the same time, amazingly confusing and kinda ridiculous. As a fellow author, it is amazing to see everyone’s creations come to life in such unique ways. Absolute banger of a video, worth the wait, and a solid 11/10
30:25 this was actually just a bug in older versions of Minecraft! :) If you crouch-walked for a long time, and then stood up again, the game would play all of the un-played step noises in rapid succession!
I always thought it was weird how the moon being scary is such a common trope in internet horror. From this to HIS THRONE from Local 58 to the Crescent king from the Monument Mythos to Neptune from Gemni Home Entertainment.
@@henryoppenheimer So with that logic anything paranormal is also a cop-out? If it were lazy then they would all be the same. I admit they have similar themes but all twist it in their own way. It's all about how it's executed.

After: a collective group of conscious ai working to either destroy their own world or save it whilst dealing with a random group of people who entered into their secret world then it turns out the secret of the arg was that the world is an arg. honestly i have no clue what i just said or if its even accurate
@@koboldwizard You're mostly right on that. Though, what's even more confusing now is the identity of the author. Not sure if they're a part of the "void beings" since there's some contraditions to that but at this point I am running with it for now lol.

The moment I saw that “entity sliding out from behind the block” was actually just a png being click-and-dragged into frame, I knew where this was going.
Also for what I understand, Markus became the new star because the author put him in "star"'s body and made him "go forth and wreak havoc". The author essentially wants a loop to happen
It's a really interesting way to commentate on the nature of ARGs, their popularity, and the follow-ups. There have been many "creepy Minecraft entity" stories and ARGs but this one really stands out because of this, because it can imply that Markus could be Herobrine itself stuck in this loop of "inspired by" media, which like I said, is an interesting way to commentate on the nature of Internet legends and storytelling as a whole. Even if you see it as a "cop-out" then it's a damn good one.
Same. Part 1 was absolutely horrifying, it reawakened my childhood terror of Herobrine I haven't felt since 2012 in a matter of seconds. The way Markus was fearfully looking out into the distance hit very close to home and the unexpected noises & weird changes to his world are the exact things I was scared of encountering back then. The presence of backrooms-like monstrosities only amplified the fear of the unknown. And then we see a bunch of guys shooting arrows at the Moon. What an extreme letdown.
There used to be lots of Minecraft clones on a Russian social network. I don't remember the name, but one of them had much more realistic graphics than the rest, with players having actual human models from Unity put into a blocky world. It also had a legend about a tall, black "observer" entity that stalked players from the mountains at night. Some people posted (obviously edited) screenshots that showed it looking at them from afar. Coupled with how uncanny the graphics were, it was probably even more creepy than Minecraft's legends. That's what Part 1 reminds me of. The legend is, of course, nothing original and it was probably just taken from Garry's Mod, but we had no idea. There was also the possibility of it being a real thing, since the game was so niche and there was basically no info you could possibly find about it.
I do like both parts, but the first definitely is better. I feel like part two would’ve worked pretty well as its own project/act that can go deeper into lore without ruining the wonderful and terrifying simplicity of part 1
I actually liked the admin stuff, Mark’s group exploring adminspace reminded me of those old multiplayer minecraft stories like Shadow of Israphel or Mianite. The Meta stuff in the recent act 2 kinda derails it though.
I know that there is nothing to fear in singleplayer, but I ALWAYS have that slight paranoia that I will notice something changing in my world. It can be anything, from something subtle like door changing material, or my furnace and crafting table switching places. Or I could walk in my home after building something outside, and see that everything is missing inside. I first got this fear from seeing Herobrine videos back in the day, but it slowly faded out. That is until I played GMod for the first time, where playing multiplayer was fun and entertaining, playing singleplayer felt like being always watched. And my fear appeared once again.
You should check out "how Minecraft is secretly a horror game" by RandomSageless. It does a good job of explaining why you're paranoid in singleplayer.
It is this kind of insidious horror that is truly the scariest. Everything being normal except for one or two things you notice are off, like, you swear you closed the door behind you when you last left your house, or, you swear you never placed a torch over there, just little tiny things like that that give you chills up your spine.
playing minecraft PE back in the day was really something else in creative singleplayer. it always seemed so eerie and quiet and everything seemed so... unfinished
This genre of horror is something that is specifically effective to us as its not just something we fear out of instinct, but out of experience. We lived out these fears back in the day and seeing them again like this only adds to our "fond" memories

I think this is one of the most high-quality args I've ever seen. When I first started watching this video, my original thought was "Ah, it's another mysterious dark creature in the distance arg," and then I saw that this video was A FULL HOUR LONG. I knew there must have been a reason you made a full-length documentary on this, and I was not disappointed in the slightest. Thank you for making your awesome videos, RGN. :D
The thing about this ARG is that it’s concept is taken to it’s ‘logical conclusion’ which means it inevitably stops being scary in favor of an actual narrative.
Holy crap... a couple of weeks ago I found the video from 26:54 in my recommended, watched some snippets of it and looked at the channel, found it weird, then moved on with my day because I didn't understand anything. I seriously didn't know I stumbled upon a wild ARG, feels wild to me.
This story felt like it started good and then... the silly entities happened to exist. It's like playing the first hour of any F.E.A.R game only for it to lose all the horror and starting a CoD campaign
“Any FEAR game” implies that the series has any cohesion at all, which it doesn’t. What you’re describing sounds most like F3AR, the worst one. IMO the original fear was genuinely good at mixing action and horror, and managed to at times make you feel anxious in spite of the firepower you had.
30:27, I don't think that's part of the ARG. Old Minecraft versions had a bug where if you were walking while not on a block (Like shifting off the side of a block) it would continually add walking sounds, then if you stepped on a solid block, it would play them all in short succession.
I think it's so cool how a lot of these sorts of "Minecraft found footage ARGs" often manage to appear as though they include actual old screen recordings of Windows 7 desktops, I have tried before, and it is very hard to accurately portray what appears to be a screen recording on some crappy desktop in 2010, they get the resolution, Aero being disabled due to low-end hardware, using Internet Explorer, and Windows Media Player, having realistic files on the filesystem, the date being set correctly, and so many other little details correct. I love attention to detail, especially in things like this.
Unfortunately the Internet Explorer version is anachronistic: it looks like IE11, which was not released until 2013. This is basically unavoidable as I think most websites will refuse to connect a client running anything older than IE11.
I don't like that it turned from a horror ARG to a meta one (I would've much preferred Markus gathering his friends and attempting to hopelessly defend against the void and eventually losing if we're going the corruption of the world route) but overall I love the ARG and despite how meta it got, I like the message behind it. This makes me wonder if servers like 2b2t could defend against this (and other creepypastas) before it even happened.
Yeah and star couldve either been one of the moon’s minions or some anomalous entity trying to warn Marcus into deleting the game or something to stop it
this feels like they tried to get chat gpt to finish the rest of their minecraft alpha story about creepy stuff appearing in low quality footage and it just went WILD
I like so much the different "stages" we get in this series. I specially loved the sky base, it gave me early fan-made counter-strike deathmatch maps, untextured, labyrinthic, I love it.
this is nostalgic. Reminds me of the old Herobrine videos I'd watch the shit out of back in the early 2010s as a kid. Back when the scariest shit to me was herobrine, the daylight owl, and Music Disc 11. To this day I still adore Music Discs 11 and 13, they're such a fascinating left-field addition to the game that just ask so many questions.
Finally! I found someone who remembers.. although the music discs have been debunked by matpat… honestly adding them to herobrines arg was really dumb… it has like nothing to do with it, and the fact that people didn’t thought of putting them together next to each other when played is really hurting my brain by it’s stupidity but sure.. old civilisation of builders and stuff.
@@MrDespair1983 really old youtube webseries from the beta days of minecraft. the first season is really neat, it's similar to herobrine but with a more fantasy twist. seasons 2 and 3 shifted the tone to a Shadow of Israphel knockoff sadly
The idea of something being on your world is an oversaturated concept, but I feel this story real knocked it out of the park in the first part. The void beings and the eye on the moon really gave me a sense of uneasiness, and really nailed the "something isn't right here" feeling that most ARG's strive for. But I immediately rolled my eyes when the writer(s) introduced Sector 4 and this "adminspace" stuff. I felt like if the writer(s) just left out the irl stuff and just focused on the unknown aura of these void beings, this would have been an outstanding ARG. It went from genuinely creepy and eerie sightings in and alpha Minecraft world, to being on the moon and fighting some sort of sentient A.I.??? This story got so stretched out of proportions, and I feel the moon storyline should have just been dropped. And the A.I. thing could have been executed better. Perhaps make the A.I. literally hide in the code of the Alpha save, where the main protagonist has to find a way to purge it out of his system with interactions in-game and through coding/modding. Overall, this ARG had potential, but just went overboard with the cyberspace stuff, which really contrasted and clashed with the original plot.
I feel like the series got less scary as time went on. as it went on, it got more narrative-driven (which is fine, i thought the transition was smooth), but i wish it still kept its spookiness with its "fear of the unknown" throughout the whole thing. also, the pictures of the void beings in real life made me laugh out loud. in conclusion, its a good series, i just hope season 2 brings back the horror aspect
Not gonna lie once the admins and all the weird meta stuff got introduced my interest in the story itself dropped, but i kept going cause holy shit dude your presentation and ability to tell and explain the story of this weird tale are top notch! Despite the story kinda falling apart for me at the halfway point, god was the effort in this arg/story absurdly top notch!
Spot on. The story started well, but later it just became unbearable because of the metaphysical stuff. Just like you, I only finished the video because of RGN's top quality presentation.
My interest actually went through a rollercoaster. At first I was interested because it resembled the Alpha 16 ARG, then it dropped because it seemed to be "oooo spooky haunted minecrap oooo", then it went back up again when the story turned out to be about void creatures hopping through different universes' versions of Minecraft.
When I first started watching I assumed this was another "spooky shadow Boi crawls through the laptop and kills the author ARG" but I was pleasantly surprised by how well it was made , good video by the way
Aw man this brings back those days of pure curiosity and mystery while playing minecraft. I remember being absolutely terrified of the smallest obscurities in my world. I’d psych myself out so many times over nothing. I miss it.
Geez. Literally 10 minutes into the video I was like "oh that's a kinda creepy story, cool" and then I looked at the time and realized it's an hour long... oh dear. This is one of those cases where I think less is more.
I got a little lost on the story once the adminspace was introduced, but I really liked the usage of the moon throughout the entire ARG. Also the void beings not just existing as minecraft skins and instead CG'd figures in the distance was better imo, it made the void creatures more ominous because they didn't look like anything else at all. Even with the weird adminspace business, the ARG was amazing and well executed, thanks for publicizing it!
The weird sound being played when he first loads the corrupted world is from the hl2 beta, it was going to be used as a transmission sound effect in the citadel but was scrapped after the leak
Love how the void beings very obviously went from either some kind of imposed image or manipulated texture of something that looks super uncanny in minecraft to silly not entirely out of place looking in game entities
It's depressing. It began interesting and scary, but just like FNAF and so many other actually popular ARGs it turned into something other than what it was meant to be. No longer a horror story like it was originally, instead a story with a very unsatisfying ending.
this was scary because of the fear of the unkown but then it got to the weird white world and other players started joining and all immersion was lost like bro one player has a endgame reference on their skin
I'm surprised how brave Marks is to go trough all of those stuff. Once while I was playing minecraft Beta I was hearing strange noises and I just left and never rejoined back to that world
30:26 Actually, this may be just normal Alpha behavior. There was a bug for a while where when you walked on the edge of a block, it didn't play the walking noise, but when you went back to the center of the block, it played those noises in rapid succession.
@@shirakotakamotogd Sorta? If I had to guess, the sounds get queued to play but they don't actually play until you walk to the center of the block due to different conditions for queuing and playing sounds. Just a guess, though. I imagine even if I read the source code with RetroMCP symbols I couldn't figure it out.
The site being on Neocities kind of messes up the whole idea of this taking place in 2010. Neocities didn't exist until 2013, so it seems likely that the URL being visible was a mistake by the series creator and not an actual clue. EDIT: After seeing the full interpretation, this could be intentional. It shows that this does not actually take place during 2010, which according to this interpretation is an integral part of the story.
Dear BrokenLynx, I have noticed that the site has been updated and since you were talking about the site I was keen to reply. Now it seems more like a death threat and is extremely conspicuous even saying that 'the end is nigh' with a gif attached. Thank you. I hope you respond soon an quick
The Internet Explorer version is anachronistic in any case: it looks like IE11, which also wasn’t released until 2013. This is hard to get around as making the ARG probably required working Internet and many websites will refuse service to anyone running an IE version older than 11.
What a disappointing route this ARG took. It started off being genuinely terrifying. The sounds made me curl up in my chair, the scenes of panic from Markus were infective and genuinely made my heart race. Even the entities and unexplained world changes were creepy and gave me chills. But as soon as the Sector 4 and everything with that got introduced, it got genuinely less creepy. It felt more like some strange intergalactic fanfiction. The entities were still kinda creepy at that point but the more they got explained and the more time we spent in the Moonbase and Adminspace the more value they lost as horror creatures. I hope with the next installment of this series they stick to the horror and leave out the frankly unnecessary Admin and Dev stuff.
For me it stopped being scary after first two white rooms things with star and then the second player guy after that. Then I thought that they both maybe are trying to stop the anomalies that are spreading from some another world but even they are failing with their command server becoming destroyed too. Then the weird dimention travel began. And finally it kind of was confirmed to be not real inside it's own universe, making it less real than my imagined multiverse, where it's canonically real inside itself, while being a world below this one in hirerarchy No, they just made basically everything a story in it's lore, which was even worse that becoming a science fiction. And to add to it, I'm one of the people who liked backrooms more as another universe than a creepy place, so me not liking this story really shows that it wasn't a good plot twist
@@plantboy6249 Backrooms also explains the monster while also not explaining it at the same time. Everytime it explains something, it introduces a new thing that it DOESN'T explain, and I like that
The thing that makes a good horror is leaving the unknown making the viewer think they might of experienced it or it could happen and And make it realistic as if it happens or happened or could and last but not least the most scary It's based on a true story
This is by far the strangest video I've ever scene. It genuinely freaked me out at first but then when there was this new texture packed world and new random characters came out of nowhere it became more like a blade runner or futuristic type plot. It was very interesting though, even when the plot completely shifted, it still was interesting, not very creepy though, just random. Overall, Good video
One thing I really appreciate in this channel is since it's using alpha minecraft, there is no creative mode, so they had to make all of this stuff from scratch which is some true dedication
I’m really sad the story got turned into a generic space horror type thing; I really like the idea of the moon being an influence over the world, but when all of that hacker bullshit trying to save the world came over, it lost me immediately. I hope the creators can improve from that
Act 2 has been a thing for a few months, maybe it's what you've been looking for The creator entirely changed the concept though, most likely since the first act was improvised and was hard to work with, part of act 1 is still there though
This is sooo cool! I keep on coming back to it as well as your other mc vids, they are just so fascinating! And also the massive change from an almost downright cryptic mystery , to so much character development with ⭐️ and the void beings!
Holy crap, another hour of an incredible ARG. You covered the last Minecraft ARG so well! I absolutely love your style of storytelling and I honestly cannot wait for the next one. Thank you for entertaining my mystery-loving brain for an entire hour.
I was the only scared at and before the mother giving birth to her children part But then it got goofy when the star people came and "used" his account.
honestly the whole first part is scary as hell, and then at the end it just gets corny as hell. they should have just left it alone instead of going through with the “plot twist”
I've always felt a sense of uneasiness in Minecraft like there was something............ evil In the emptiness of the world. This series reinforces that feeling.
@@amjkodaz That loneliness terrified me. I could never play survival alone, when I was playing by myself I always loaded into creative for that feeling of safety.
@@rebelliccanadianpilot6513 Same, it took me years to finally decide to play in survival, first I played in pacific, then I tried playing with the normal difficulty. I think the feeling of loneliness and emptiness is due to the fact that the overworld lacks of ambience noise. I compare the nether to the overworld, for me the nether feels more "full" because of the sound ambience.
This... Act 1 feels like a neat meta-commentary on the nature of Minecraft ARGs, and how many authors feel the need to spiral things further and further into absurdity to retain audiances.
When Markus is turned into Star, he is told to infect someones minecraft Beta... I think he infects Markus's Minecraft beta, which brings it full circle. It also sort of gives a reason to how it all started.
The only real thing bad thing about this arg is that sometimes the anomalies look really flat, since their 2d textures are just placed down. Would be a lot scarier if they were similar to the scene where the anomalies arm peaked around the wall; smooth, unlike normal minecraft
Same I feel the change in appearence was an intentional change to make it easier to display the void entities durong the videos But i do prrfer the non-minecradty look they had in older videos they had an undefined shape and looked like something not from minecraft even more
The fact that this story started off as "Creepy Things I Caught On My Minecraft World" series, transitioned into "Let's save this gosh damn world", ended off as a "You are not real and this is a Matrix" story, and *is currently* continuing...it's so disappointing. It's like Petscop but if Petscop was a FNAF-type of creepypasta thing.
I love how Markus is completely unfazed by ✺'s threats at the end. He's just so done with everything, and it gives him the means to defeat the antagonist, as it were.
The "Integrity" being ( 29:50 ) looks a bit like Siren Head. Anyone noticing that the first character introduced (markus) has the same name as the game's creator, Markus "Notch" Persson?
Interesting thing, the "Skybox" may have been the "Server" that was around before Multiplayer. Meaning before we got the system that we have now they had to use man made worlds with doors connected to one minecraft seed to another.

I agree, it stopped being scary but it was still interesting nonetheless

That's what I thought too.
I really love the beginning with the creatures and fear of the unknown, but i feel it all goes downhill after they go to the white area.
yeah, i agree. i was seriously scared in the first part and was literally watching with my eyes closed

The starting was so scary but at the end it turned into a goofy moon story

The weird sound being played when he first loads the corrupted world is from the hl2 beta, it was going to be used as a transmission sound effect in the citadel but was scrapped after the leak
whats it called.
Pls time stamp
@@MatthewT394 trans6
found what the sound was meant to be used for, not the beta citadel but for the "hazard01" map by marc laidlaw.
As I know it's from Soviet failed rocket
Love how the void beings very obviously went from either some kind of imposed image or manipulated texture of something that looks super uncanny in minecraft to silly not entirely out of place looking in game entities
It started so fucking strong but then plummeted to its death for me when the characters started speaking in formal English
It's depressing. It began interesting and scary, but just like FNAF and so many other actually popular ARGs it turned into something other than what it was meant to be. No longer a horror story like it was originally, instead a story with a very unsatisfying ending.

No, HAAHAHAHAHAAA!!

True, ruined by the plot tbh
this was scary because of the fear of the unkown but then it got to the weird white world and other players started joining and all immersion was lost

It started as a horror story, but then turned into a goofy "SAVE THE WORLD!!" type story
I'm surprised how brave Marks is to go trough all of those stuff. Once while I was playing minecraft Beta I was hearing strange noises and I just left and never rejoined back to that world
What did the noises sound like?
Cave sounds
@m1sty that is beyond wrong
@@Rubinkys how so
@m1sty wrong as in creepy and not right
30:26 Actually, this may be just normal Alpha behavior. There was a bug for a while where when you walked on the edge of a block, it didn't play the walking noise, but when you went back to the center of the block, it played those noises in rapid succession.
Like lag on a server?
@@shirakotakamotogd Sorta? If I had to guess, the sounds get queued to play but they don't actually play until you walk to the center of the block due to different conditions for queuing and playing sounds. Just a guess, though. I imagine even if I read the source code with RetroMCP symbols I couldn't figure it out.
@@aubymoriyeah i remember this bug

@@ProCraze bro watched an arg vid and became an arg himself
The Internet Explorer version is anachronistic in any case: it looks like IE11, which also wasn’t released until 2013. This is hard to get around as making the ARG probably required working Internet and many websites will refuse service to anyone running an IE version older than 11.
the idea of some force joining your single player server and sending messages in chat like "come here" is genuinely beyond terrifying
The author self-insert is what ruined it imo

@@SorryForBecomingHumanAgain9819I agree
For me it stopped being scary after first two white rooms things with star and then the second player guy after that. Then I thought that they both maybe are trying to stop the anomalies that are spreading from some another world but even they are failing with their command server becoming destroyed too. Then the weird dimention travel began. And finally it kind of was confirmed to be not real inside it's own universe, making it less real than my imagined multiverse, where it's canonically real inside itself, while being a world below this one in hirerarchy
No, they just made basically everything a story in it's lore, which was even worse that becoming a science fiction. And to add to it, I'm one of the people who liked backrooms more as another universe than a creepy place, so me not liking this story really shows that it wasn't a good plot twist
Agreed. Extremely misued.
It's funny how it went from unknown horror to adventurous.
Back rooms be like
@@The-Random-fool1697 i think backrooms is a neat example of it actually working (keeping horror while also having indepth lore). This is not.
@@plantboy6249 Backrooms also explains the monster while also not explaining it at the same time. Everytime it explains something, it introduces a new thing that it DOESN'T explain, and I like that
The thing that makes a good horror is leaving the unknown making the viewer think they might of experienced it or it could happen and
And make it realistic as if it happens or happened or could and last but not least the most scary
It's based on a true story
Same with NES godzilla
This started good but went from spooky to silly real fast
Tbh I'm just happy it was a neat story that didn't just scream at me for no reason
@@ScrewdriverGaming like practically every analog horror ending
This is by far the strangest video I've ever scene. It genuinely freaked me out at first but then when there was this new texture packed world and new random characters came out of nowhere it became more like a blade runner or futuristic type plot. It was very interesting though, even when the plot completely shifted, it still was interesting, not very creepy though, just random.
Overall, Good video
One thing I really appreciate in this channel is since it's using alpha minecraft, there is no creative mode, so they had to make all of this stuff from scratch which is some true dedication
Not unless he used an external level editor
At 49:48 ✺ really tried to persuade Markus by giving him “rainbow ore” 😆
Lgbt ore

can you show me how to do the star pls? if you do, then thanks😊
I’m really sad the story got turned into a generic space horror type thing; I really like the idea of the moon being an influence over the world, but when all of that hacker bullshit trying to save the world came over, it lost me immediately. I hope the creators can improve from that
the story just became confusing. it should’ve just been like 7-8 videos not 40 of them. it woulda made it a lot easier to digest in the end.
Act 2 has been a thing for a few months, maybe it's what you've been looking for
The creator entirely changed the concept though, most likely since the first act was improvised and was hard to work with, part of act 1 is still there though

I've always felt a sense of uneasiness in Minecraft like there was something............ evil In the emptiness of the world.
This series reinforces that feeling.
It's a normal feeling, though Minecraft doesn't have any mysteries or anomalies, the stores are nice
When I was younger I would always avoid playing singleplayer survival for that exact reason. I just felt so vulnerable.
@@amjkodaz That loneliness terrified me. I could never play survival alone, when I was playing by myself I always loaded into creative for that feeling of safety.
@@rebelliccanadianpilot6513 I'm so glad to know I'm not alone. I thought I was mental, turns out I have people that felt just the way I did
@@rebelliccanadianpilot6513 Same, it took me years to finally decide to play in survival, first I played in pacific, then I tried playing with the normal difficulty. I think the feeling of loneliness and emptiness is due to the fact that the overworld lacks of ambience noise. I compare the nether to the overworld, for me the nether feels more "full" because of the sound ambience.
This... Act 1 feels like a neat meta-commentary on the nature of Minecraft ARGs, and how many authors feel the need to spiral things further and further into absurdity to retain audiances.
the problem is that this actually was nightmare fuel in the first part and then all of a sudden it goes to genric creepypasta tropes
This is so good, really liked this ARG, it acknowledges its goofy early 2010's creepypasta nature
Hearing RGN’s voice after watching a clip is like finding light in a dark tunnel
yea man
When Markus is turned into Star, he is told to infect someones minecraft Beta... I think he infects Markus's Minecraft beta, which brings it full circle. It also sort of gives a reason to how it all started.
As a kid I was terrified of dark caves, especially when cave sounds played. I’m gonna be honest, I would have believed this as a kid.
This story started off interesting and then had the biggest identity crisis of any ARG ever
The only real thing bad thing about this arg is that sometimes the anomalies look really flat, since their 2d textures are just placed down. Would be a lot scarier if they were similar to the scene where the anomalies arm peaked around the wall; smooth, unlike normal minecraft
Same
I feel the change in appearence was an intentional change to make it easier to display the void entities durong the videos
But i do prrfer the non-minecradty look they had in older videos
they had an undefined shape and looked like something not from minecraft even more
The fact that this story started off as "Creepy Things I Caught On My Minecraft World" series, transitioned into "Let's save this gosh damn world", ended off as a "You are not real and this is a Matrix" story, and *is currently* continuing...it's so disappointing. It's like Petscop but if Petscop was a FNAF-type of creepypasta thing.
I love how Markus is completely unfazed by ✺'s threats at the end. He's just so done with everything, and it gives him the means to defeat the antagonist, as it were.
