This California nurse is in awe! I just shed a tear because it is beautiful to see this. Here in USA we are being made to re use medical mask then placed in paper bag to be use later and then the googles upon removal is sanitize to be re used again and even encouraged us to wear bandanas per cdc guideline. My gown in isolation are the flimsy kind, thank God, they are not making us re use those, who knows next week they might issue guideline to us to use disposable garbage bag.

But some local nurses and doctors in Wuhan were not that fortunate because during the early days of COVID-19, they did not know how viral and dangerous COVID-19 is.
Not only were they properly suited, I noticed most of them are very young. I guess being young, even if there were to be infected, they have better chances of survival. Also, they have better stamina to work a 12 hr shift in a high pressure environment. Good decision.

Please take care. If there is not enough suit, there are 2 things essential. One is the mask and the other is the goggles, pls wash all your skin exposed with 75% alcohol.
They worked 4 to 5 hours per shift, because the protection can only last 6 hours. In the first two weeks of the breakout, it was tough, they all wore diapers. But after two weeks, all the medical teams went in help and the workflow and resources were ready, doctors and nurses worked 4 hours per shift in the ICU.
I work as an RN in the one of Texas hospitals. The first a few weeks we were given paper masks to go in covid patients rooms. And the masks were to be saved for later use of the 12 hour shift.
FYI, the middle layer of the medical mask is filled with static electricity, which is grabbing virus and not letting go, after 6 hours of breathing, the humidity of the mask is in a certain level and the mask lose guard, virus will start go through even quicker. so the medical staff needs to change the mask every 6 hours to ensure safety.
I heard they also do 4/6 hours shift instead of 12 hours because it is impossible for them to go to the bathroom or eat/drink with this whole suits on. It’s also very energy consuming to talk and move with it. Some of them even had to wear adult diapers.

Amazing work, China. In the US, it's permeable yellow disposable gowns, surgical hair bonnets, basic gloves, face shield, and N95 expired or not -- in some cases, surgical mask or cloth mask. Not to mention the fact that PPE is being decontaminated and reused in the US. What are we doing here? Not even up to par with the first layer of what she put on (which was a thick surgical gown, cap, and gloves, N95, and shoe protectors). The second layer provides even further protection with the bunny suit, 2nd surgical cap, 2nd set of gloves, knee-high boot covers with a 3rd layer of shoe covers (booties), surgical mask, and goggles.
Such precautions and hardship, yet these frontline heroes do so with so much love , concern and commitment to save people . May the good Lord blless all of you and keep you safe

That's why 40 000 doctors and nurses came to Wuhan from all other provinces and return safely with 0 infection. But some died for other reasons: traffic accident, overwork. They are heroes.
In Pakistan Doctors don't even have Gloves & masks. All of this stuff is far away from there reach. They are forced to work in Wards with a thermometer & stethoscope only. So miserable to see some using plastic bags while treating patients. May Allah protect all of Doctors.

I worked in a so cal covid unit 6 days in a row.. We have one single gown more thin than the first one she put on. I put on a simple face mask because we have no n95 unless we open the crash cart for code blue. Then i put on a worn papr that we share amongst rts, lab, and other mds. This made me so sad lol

We dont have such great PPEs, nor do we have air conditioning in our wards. To be honest I’m not even sure if the institution is going to would provide any at all.

In Pakistan Doctors don't even have Gloves & masks. All of this stuff is far away from there reach. They are forced to work in Wards with a thermometer & stethoscope only. So miserable to see some using plastic bags while treating patients. May Allah protect all of Doctors.

It wasn't like this on first days but China had quickly learnt and fixed the issue, the same very few countries did such as south Korea, to support medical staffs. Unfortunately their colleagues in western world can't have a new N95 to start daily job, even now in April, what a shame.

same as everyone, noboday stock too much these thing that no use of.
Meanwhile in the U.K. PHE are telling frontline workers that a flimsy short sleeved apron, one pair of gloves and a surgical mask are sufficient PPE for confirmed and suspected COVID-19 cases in a ward setting. What a joke.

I worked in a so cal covid unit 6 days in a row.. We have one single gown more thin than the first one she put on.
I put on a simple face mask because we have no n95 unless we open the crash cart for code blue. Then i put on a worn papr that we share amongst rts, lab, and other mds.
This made me so sad lol
