This was one of the songs that we listened to and 'felt' deeply when I was in Vietnam in 1969. It felt like it was written just for us soldiers.

This is a powerful, beautiful song. Just called "Marmalade" at the time, i turned 13 in 69 and this was a favorite song of mine. I will be 67 soon and i still get tears in my eyes when i hear it. We all in the end have reflections of our lives but these guys were so young. Brilliant songwriting from the musical parts to the lyrics. The performance by the band is exceptionally great.

A band from my hometown Glasgow in Scotland, globally this was their biggest success, however their biggest hit in the UK was a No. 1 written by the Lennon and McCartney Obla do Obla Da.... They had quite a few hits in the UK and a couple of other minor hits in the US.
A classic song with a great chord progression, I believe the writers Junior Campbell (he's the main vocalist) and Dean Ford) were in inspired to write it after reading of a Vietnam vets story of his experience.

You need to find the video of Marmalade singing this and the video is showing images of soldiers in Vietnam. It is so touching especially the very end when it shows an pld veteran standing at the memorial wall with his hand up on the wall and the reflection in the wall is showing young soldiers in Vietnam. Gives you chills to see that.

Correction to my comment. The idea you need to look at is Reflections of my Life by Marmalade . The video is a tribute to Vietnam Vets. I said at the end of video it showed an old veteran. I was wrong it's probably a man in his 50's or so and served over there. His hand was on the Wall and it showed younger soldiers in the reflection. Very moving.
