Thanos testing Peter to see if he'd keep his word to Gamora is a nice touch though, since Thanos kept his word when he gave it to get the 3 stones he gave it for. If you're quick enough with 1:10 and pause just as the beam of light runs over Thanos' face you can see even more detail. The others are: - At the end of Infinity War during the scene when Thor impales Thanos before the snap. It's a fantastically detailed close-up where all the tiny pores, wrinkles, follicles and general skin texture can be seen. - In Endgame when Thanos gives the "you could not live with your own failure" speech. All other appearances seem more obvious in their CGI (though still pretty great).
I remember the anxiety of waiting for this movie to come out, it was crazy. This specific scene got leaked somewhere before Infinity War came out and everyone went crazy about it 😂
So Gamora already knew who Thanos gonna sacrifice to obtain the soul stone.. You can see it in her face when Thor said he dont know where the stone is.. That's why off cam he told Quill to kill her instead of Thanos cause soul stone is his next objective..

And it's all for nothing, because Thanos still got what he wanted, admitting that he likes Quill *kinda a win, since winning the approval of father-in-law is tough*
He was willing to kill her to honor her wishes and save the universe. Makes no sense he would suddenly lose sight of that and pistol whip Thanos, which would seemingly be much less satisfying than defeating him, probably not even hurt too terribly much, and not to mention make Gamora's death be in total vain.
And let's not forget how absolutely stupid of Gamora it is to go to Thanos in the first damn place when she's the only one who knows where the Soul Stone is. If she hides out on an unknown world with Peter, the odds of Thanos finding them are literally astronomical, even with the Space Stone.
Really cheapened Peter’s development and emotional growth in the past movies, I hated it as well. Was really jarring especially because the rest of the characters were pretty sound writing wise in Infinity War.

He didn't get the Reality Stone until now. After this he gets the Soul Stone. Then he goes to fight Dr. Strange, during which he can't use his powers as much or as freely because they prevent him from closing his fist as much as possible, which is apparently necessary. Using the stones also takes a VERY slight toll on even his body, which is part of why Endgame Thanos is stronger than Infinity War Thanos. You'll note though, that once he gets 5 stones and has Vision in his sights he goes ham with the stones, because he knows he doesn't need to hold back anymore.
