Hey there! We’re Cary and Cris. Earlier this year we decided to quit our jobs and leave our beautiful island of Kauai to pursue a life of full-time travel. Being ex-chefs, our worlds pretty much revolve around food and beverage. So, we thought it would be fun to take you with us as we eat, drink, and explore the world.
Im a Slovenian and i absolutely love watching people either react to Slovenia or show visits ❤❤❤
We’re glad you liked the video! Thank you for watching ❤️

If u ever come back, u should try "prekmurska gibanica" cake, also "trojanski krof" (donut), also go to city of Divaca and find a pizzeria Etna..they have great pizzas and also localy produced air dryed and aged steaks (very rare and good steaks of this quality) there is so much more to slovenia, not just Ljubljana and Bled 👍
And Senožeče,one of best family restaurats with great food, cant find on web.
Wow that sounds amazing! We would absolutely love to try those if we come back and visit again!
@@TheTravelingChefs Yeah, you really missed out on "prekmurska gibanica" and "trojanski krof" , they are a must in Slovenia :)
Fun fact "trojanski krof" is the most sold donut in the world (at 1 location daily, regular shop), and it is not even close :)
They sell 20 000 donuts in a day on most busy days, and on regular days around 10 000
Od kdaj je pica slovenska, so Trojanski krofi se dobri? Ne.. Kaj niso steak od drugod? Ma, ste pa...
@@edseds7412 kaj poreces na prekmursko gibanico? Ziher izvira iz Poljske... sej tud divjacinski golaz ni slovenska jed pa sta jo jedla...
Drugace pa "osmice" ce zelis pravo slovensko hrano
Thank you for visiting our lovely country. You are more than welcome to come back. Really enjoyed the video.
Thank you so much 🙏🏽❤️🇸🇮
Kodila! It's from (my) Prekmurje region and the soup is called Bograč, which has 3 types of meat: pork, beef and venison meat and is traditional for our region :)
Ahh the soup was delicious!! So flavorful and rich 👌🏽
glad that you liked it :)
@@TheMonchyka we loved it!! 👌🏽
Try "kranjska klobasa" or "bloška klobasa" those two are my best choise, but Kranjska is the queen of the queen:) Proud to be Slovenian. Thanx for pretty and honest promotion of our food and also the country as well. Wellcome any time. By By
Thanks so much! 🙌🏽❤️🇸🇮
@18:05 lady ate a dish called Bograč (Bograch) Its a dish that originates from north-eastern part of Slovenia
Thanks for that info!! 🙏🏽😊❤️
@@TheTravelingChefsNortheastern part of Slovenia (Prekmurje) got best food in Slovenia
@@robert4914 ahh hopefully we can visit there soon!
That dish in the end with meat and potatoes is just as my grandmother in Romania makes.
It’s delicious!!

ALL TURISTS IN SLOVENIA EATING OUR FOOD ARE ALWAYS SILENT OUT OF WORDS,,,,,HALF OF EARTH FOOD COMES FROM OUR LOVE LAND SLOVENIA-CENTER OF EARTH LIFE
Such delicious food!!
Haha respeccttt🔥
Thank you 🙏🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Love the video! I am only sad you didnt visit Slovenain Istria where we have great seafood and the local favourite Ombolo (a piece of swine inside a bread loaf with cheese, mushroom or truffle sauce). Ima a vegetarian so instead of Ombolo i fill the bread with vegetables. There is one more food YOU HAVE TO TRY and its the all time winner for the best comfort food in the history of all comfort foods - Žlikrofi. Its a speciality form my home town Idrija in the northern Primorska region. Its a type of a dumpling.
I work in tourism so if you want contact me here with a msg and i can offer great advice, tips, ideas and plans for you to experience the region of Primorska!
That sounds amazing!! We will definitely put that on the bucket list 🙌🏽
Yes Ljubljana is number 1
Agreed 🙌🏽🙌🏽
Hi and greetings from Slovenia. Except from summer, it's raining a lot here. Hope you still had a nice time.
We had an amazing time! It was really such a great experience. Slovenia is absolutely beautiful ❤️

Which country are U next visiting? 😊
We are off to Venice next!! 😊
Was nice to watch you try a bunch of stuff but man, you really missed out on the good food though. Click me when you're coming back through, we'll do the real tour, I promise, it is going to be something different and amazing. YOu missed Kras region, you missed the friday open kithcen (with a bunch of small and big restaurants offering their stuff all at one place), you missed out on, what a colleague who only eats at Michelin restaurants (?) calls probably the best restaurant in the world, and so much more. Hope xou come back!
Sounds amazing!! We will definitely let you know when we come back 👌🏽
Go try some of these, over the Mura: dödöli, bujta repa (s čuntami), bak, langoš, bograč, ciganjska pečenka, rejtaši, zlejvanka, miši, posolanka, bibe, gibanica, gobova župa, makova pogača, mlejčne ouborke, knejdlini, cücki, orejova potica
Hopefully we get to try those when we come back! 🙌🏽
Fun fact the worst kremšnita is that place it is a tourist trap. The quality drop around 10 years ago and naw kremšnita in Lidl is better than in kavarna park.
What is the name of the restaurant in Lidl?
@@TheTravelingChefsHe meant store bought kremšnita in Lidl store
@@klikn5679 ohh I see! Got it 👍🏽
Oh no, the kremsnita in Lidl is not good. The best one is from Bled...
mi slovenciiii
❤️❤️🇸🇮🇸🇮
If you want to expience TRUE slovenian food you need to go to primorska/kras region, we have the best klobase and the dry aged meat world renown. also the wine is great
Sounds like paradise!
Potica is NOT bread!
did u try prekmurska gibanica
I’m not sure, what’s that?
Odprta kuhinja IS on thé other site...
🎉❤😊🎉❤😊
What you were eating is a sorry excuse for klobasa... 😂
😯😯😯
At Zbilje lake near Kranj, you can feed swans with a corn for a 1 eur donation.
That sounds fun!!
Ha ha near Kranj?! Near Medvode, not Kranj, Kranj is 25km far from that lake or more.
@@fanforfun3181 same "bullock" Medvode, Kranj, you can`t missed it
Pečenica in kislo zelje
Sounds delicious 😋 do you have recommendations on a restaurant that serves the best roast beef and sauerkraut??
wanessa actualy take sosige vith her to the SSI....
Kranjska klobasa is from Kranj, its a smaller town in the Gorenjska regija in Slovenija, its not originally from Ljubljana...
Ahh that’s good to know! Thank you for letting us know 🙏🏽
Lol... you have no idea what you are talking about.
learn about vojvodina Kranjska (carniola)
A res? A iz Kranja je? 😂
you need to try krvavica
What’s that??
@@TheTravelingChefs Krvavica is filled with pig's blood (hence the name), hard bacon, offal, pork skin, rice, porridge or jasperen. Kravavica can also be made from horse meat.
Variations of blood sausage are boudin rouge (Creole and Cajun), rellena or moronga (Mexican) and sanganel (Furlan).
@@sXsKidd oooh sounds interesting! Hopefully we can try it when we come back 😊
I wonder where the hell you got the plastic cutlery from, when the sale of plastic cutlery and also plastic glasses is banned throughout the EU.
I don’t think those were plastic, I think they were made with a different material 😊
it becomes silly when it is obvious U R PAID FOR! Uber silly. You are so cute...
Wow we wish we were paid for this!! 😆😆 thank you for thinking that we’re good enough to be paid, but unfortunately we’re not there yet 😆
i like Slovenian food specialy Prebranac and Cevapcici and lepinja.
Slovenian food is great!! 👍🏽
Non of these are Slovenian.
Yes, none of those are slovenian. Prebranac and Cevapcici are turkish dishes that you can find in Bosnia which is basically just a turkish province.
In Gorenjska region where is lake Bled and lake Bohinj is another desert called Grmada. Very yummy😊. Greetings from Slovenija
Hi thank you for watching! ❤️
Kranjska klobasa (sausage) is the worst one you can eat. Sausage must be taken from some home made farmers - way, way batter.
Where would be the best place to get those?
You should definitely try Serbian food. 🇷🇸🇷🇸🇷🇸🇷🇸🇷🇸
What are the best dishes to try?
Not everything about the Serbs...u will get your moment
and your only job no adjectives of taste wow
😆😆
Hhh "kremšnita"is not a cake
The sign said cream cake though! 😅😅
go home pls
its not poticha, its potica . try to learn how to spell.
**It’s 😊
you'll get the idea, if you try to pronounce Poteetsa.
@@andrejvnuk7493 ahh 👍🏽
Cheap.." tried "
Slovenia is not most desirable culinary destination in the world but still you wont go home hungry.
Just come and try, don't be shy...
Ahh well, we LOVED the food there!! Slovenian cuisine is pretty amazing 🙌🏽❤️
By the way we Slovenians hope America will restore the democracy in the next elections because we all know Bidolini didn't get the record number of votes and should never become the president of your great country.
Oh, you're a DA?
@@slovenc88 What is DA?
The other guy is controlled opposition...when one guy is done warmongering they have another one doing under different propaganda but they will both secure the oil😂 and fund terrorist groups arond the world, ofc. Stop praying for the enemy moj dragi brat, lp
Slovenia is a green beautiful place but the food here is nothing special in comparison to food just across the border in Italy and Austria. The problem is that the best meat and other ingredients produced in Slovenia are sent to Austria and Italy so it is very hard to find a high quality ingredients among Slovenian suppliers. You should better check food in Trieste, Klagenfurt and Graz if you really want to eat good.
This has to be one of the dumbest shit I've read today.
Yes we have some previous videos in Austria, and then we have some upcoming videos in Italy as well! All have different styles and flavors, and we appreciate all of them ❤️
Maybe you should upgrade your culinary experience and not eat only street food. You have much better places in Ljubljana. If you visited Ljubljana Castle you have Strelec, close to train station is JB restaurant, okrepčevalnica Čompa, for something traditional Gostilna pri Žabarju. 20 minitus from the center you have Grič if you want something amazing.
@@urskapax where is the Grič? I lived in Vienna for some time and food there is much more tasty than in Ljubljana - especially meat. It is impossible to make a high quality food without high quality ingredients.
What are you on about?
We have great local food here. Sure they chose poorly in terms of restaurants but we have great food and great chefs that use local ingredients.
Putr, Jezeršek, Jelenov greben, JB, Skaručna, Hiša Franko, Hiša Linhart, Grič, Pr' Krjan, Kruh in Vino, to name just a few.
It's a Slovenian national sport for Slovenians to s*it on Slovenija.
Do come back guys and try great local food, we have plenty.
