The fact that this video has so few views and likes is an absolute travesty. Fantastic video and great work! Looking forward to watching more content!
Thank you very much!
The editing is so slick in this video! Super informative and overall a great watch
Thank you so much!
HOW DOES THIS ONLY HAVE 42 LIKES THIS IS SO GOOD WHAT-I'M SHARING THIS TO EVERYONE I KNOW
Really solid video, thank you for pouring so much effort into it!
I AM BLUSHING
Excellent video. I never would have considered moral absolutism to be so heavily entrenched in religion. Definitely an interesting idea. This was very interesting.
Great video! This channel deserves way more subs
Wow, this video is too good. I wish it had more reach
I forgot to leave a comment on this for the algorithm! Amazing research, mindblowing editing, and Jim Carrey is confirmed the grandson of Friedrich Nietzsche.
psst I have another more recent video you should watch/comment on as well...*bats eyelashes*
Well that was bloody brilliant. Very informative essay and delivered in a super engaging way. Definitely feeling richer than I was 40 mins ago!
I'm so glad you enjoyed, thanks for watching!
thank you for such an insightful vid essay and analysis!
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed
This gives me so much to think about
Good video. Criminally underwatched. 4/5 would have some masked heroes come beat it up till it starts doing better though.
Great Video man! :) Really impressive!
THANK YOU FREN I worked really hard
Spider-Man and Steve Ditko are an interesting example for you to choose, because Spidey famously does try staying his hand and minding his own business instead of beating up a man for stealing, which looks like a victimless crime unworthy of vigilante violence...until the thief goes on to murder Peter's beloved Uncle Ben, which Ditko as the writer blames on Spider-Man for his "irresponsibility" of failing to stomp on every crime he saw with order-restoring violence, turning him into a younger, more colorful sort of Batman who punches criminals in penance for Uncle Ben's death on his watch, leaving Petey with a complicated question instead of an easy answer: is the great responsibility that comes with great power to, as Ditko posited, use whatever you have to change the world tirelessly at the risk of making a grave mistake (like when he tried to save Gwen Stacy and accidentally killed her in the attempt), or to prioritize restraint and first doing no harm?
to be clear, the Steven Ditko comparison is down to Alan Moore himself rather than me. Spider-Man, on the other hand, I picked for recognizability and I'm largely being hyperbolic in that example anyway. Spider-Man is actually my favourite superhero by a long shot and probably always will be--I always found his working class struggles to be the most identifiable and tragic
@@CurmudgeonMedia Yeah, that's pretty much my point: he struggles and it's complicated, which made him a breath of fresh air for people tired of black-and-white morality and thus he spearheaded the "Marvel revolution of more grounded heroes", so he seems particularly relevant to the conversation in this video.
@@autobotstarscream765 I appreciate this comment because my biggest regret with this video is not taking more time to talk about the broader landscape of comic books at the time. I was much more interested in the cold war dynamic, and talking about comic books and superheroes in that umbrella was enough for me at the time but looking back on it I really wish I'd given more attention to that side of things. The video was already so long and had already taken so much out of me ahaha
Good lord but this was excellent!
You are too kind good sir, too kind!
I'm so glad you managed to talk about the death of myth and G-d without mentioning a certain German
I hope you don't mean Nietzsche because I mention him the one necessary time :')
But I do apologise for it!
