2024 Empire Builder Seattle to Chicago

On a cool December evening, we boarded the Amtrak Empire Builder at Seattle’s King Street station. The following morning, we were treated to a snowy Glacier National Park. The frozen ponds and snow banked creeks surrounded by towering, frosted serene pines glided by as we clicked away with our cameras in the observation car. Distant and nearby snow-covered mountains were interspersed with rolling plains of black, green and red plant life. Leaving Montana, we traversed the rugged northern plains of North
Dakota. In Minnesota, we followed the mighty Mississippi and were taken by its size and azure blue water poking out between the ice sheets. We arrived at our final destination, a frigid Chicago, in 48 hours.
