“King viserys of house Targaryen, first of his name, king of the andals, the rhoynar, and the first men, lord of the seven kingdoms and protector of the realm”- ser Eryck (I believe). It legitimately gave me goosebumps when that scene came up with the music and that tone. Never have I seen such a powerful scene where a monarch is introduced with all their titles 🤣🤣
@@TheFandomeClips exactly!!And the cherry on top: daemond redeeming his relationship with his older brother in helping him on those steps and crowning him. Those are brother goals right there!
Viserys did NOT sacrifice his wife’s life in order to save the child’s life. The baby was breach and the maester made it clear that Aemma was going to die, no matter what. The c-section was HORRIFIC and I HATE that this was done to women without their consent, but as awful as it was, she would’ve gone on suffering for hours…even days…and was STILL going to die. Had they NOT done the c-section, the baby would’ve DEFINITELY died. The c-section was an attempt to save him.
Haha too true Jeremy mate. I know we bag on them all the time but I do feel sorry for DND in that regard, their adaptation skills were excellent and they brought some real gems of scenes that weren't in the books building off of what they had. But man they were so out of their depth with complexity of the narrative when they had to fly solo. Thanks for watching as always mate! Liam. (Join us on discord, an one of our OG viewers i must add you to the collection lol)
@16:48 the reason that shot focused on Aemond's face is so you wouldn't see his erection at seeing the object of his obsession, Daemon, slice a dude's head in half in front of the entire royal court
I will always hold that having it be obvious the boys are not Laenor’s was the weaker choice for the story. I will also say that the legality of who should be heir is never the issue. Frankly worst case as Queen Rhanerya would be able to legitimise them without issue, and the marriage of Luke to one of the girls fixes that issue neatly. People arguing over the damned chair and trying to get their people on it. The sin of ambition without a clear reason why you are better for the job, just wanting it to have it, is the real story I think.
The cool thing about this show and the book it's based on is that the book has two completely different descriptions of how the events played out, making the in universe unreliable narrators actually work really well. And then the show feels like halfway between the two making the show fell like the true telling of the story.
Video Suggestion: What would the game look like if Olenna Tyrell had married Prince Daeron Targaryen like she was originally supposed to and survived to the main series?
It is an absolute crime that Paddy Constantine didnt win an emmy for playing King Viserys. It says a lot when Mats Smith is chewing thw scenery in every scene hes in and is able to make an incestuous, murdering chaotic neutral like Daemon likeable...and hes STILL not the best actor in the show
When is the Star Wars how the Jedi are incompetent and how they should have handled the palpatine ascension to power video coming out using the prequels and clone wars and the audiobooks as reference points I personally think that it was impossible to beat him but maybe you have a solution

Best scene bar none. This was how you do an epic walk

Definitely not the right show if childbirth gone wrong is your trigger.
Given that the book this show is based on actually has a conclusion, fingers crossed we won't have one thought up by the showrunners this time 😏

It does't matter if the writers don't follow the books, either.
Oh boy... justice for Prince Maelor!

Yeah… mans confused why that can happen but he isn’t allowed to take Lukes eye out at storms end 😂 - Thom
Alicent complained to Larys, but did NOT ask for his help getting Otto back at court.
Great recap I’m so hyped for season 2!
Alicent referred to Rhaenyra as STEP-daughter at the wedding feast.
Yet another reminder that Paddy Considine was robbed of at the very least an Emmy Nomination if not a win. Tragic
God damn right! Gonna miss him in season 2! Kudos to the writing and performance to add layers to that character- Thom

I forgot how the scene with Viserys showing up to support Rhaenyra actually brought me to tears
It’s so nice to see the show focus on vassals and lords more than just the lords paramount is nice and all the different heraldry
Damn, now I’ll have to finally get round to finish watching house of the dragon so I can watch this video
thank, you for this, now i can start season 2 ;)

Interesting that they have Daemon slay his first, Royce wife. The book implies he hired a faceless man to do the job.
Is this Thom? Let's get 'em lol
It is indeed Thom…I did the Greyjoy / Robb script too-Thom 😂
