just so everyone knows it's not due to graphic scenes that people are displeased - it's not a purity culture thing - it's the fact that it's blatantly showcasing the degradation/ abuse and humiliation of lily's character. instead of it being addressed in a poignant way like the original female director wanted it to, it's gratuitous and sexualised to the point where it's clearly a fetish and catered towards male viewers. its a good thing to share stories of abuse in the industry but here it's being used as a form of eroticism.
I think the director & writer thinks viewers love watching p*rn/nude, drugs rather than series. These directors never noticed the most rated series didn't even have to show us this kind of scenes for attention. Public can watch p*rn instead of this series or they can directly shoot a p*rn film. Unfortunately they are indirectly shooting p*rn as series.
Yea exactly! Why are they infusing porn into shows when people can just look up porn on their own? Like why can't shows and porn be separate these days lol

I understand they read the script but that’s the job of an actor, to play the role of another person. This doesn’t show either of the girl’s “true colors”, they’re representing the characters they were given
Because Sam Levinson likes to explore his creepy predatory sexual desires in his writing. Remember when he wrote Maddy hooking up with a 40 year old man and he justified it by saying “well she was actually in charge” as if a 14 year old has any capacity to be in charge in that way
Sam Levinson quite literally ruined the show. All he reduced it too was the sexual “wow factor” that isn’t even surprising anymore. The original director had the depth in the plot of deconstructing and showcasing the pop culture industry but now it’s just overblown for the over-sexualisation which is apparently the only thing he knows how to do aside from good cinematography…
Its deserves all the bad reviews it get. I do feel sorry for its actors and actresses , becuase despite all the money they get, they deserve better and serious roles of acting, if they can actually act.

I'm not a third wave feminist or anything like that, but jeez. This reeks of smut. I feel bad for Lily, having to be a part of this show, but also... I feel bad for her because perhaps it's more likely that she enjoys this. It's not empowering. It's gratification but on camera with a script, a sorry excuse for television. To be honest most shows/movies in the 90's & 80's portrayed Love way better than current movies/shows. Especially female actors. No crazy amounts of nudity or any other crazy stuff. But it's mostly because of the directors, most actor's & actresses don't want to take part in them but some directors quite literally make them unless they sign a contract that says they absolutely don't....
It's not bad as internet is portraying it, but it's not good either. When Amy Seimetz's was removed as director and Sam Levinson took over, it was expected to become a semi porn series anyway. He changed the script of main two leads. The show will end with lot of plot holes for other characters.

Keep in mind the show was written by Sam Levinson and The Weeknd and Abel, besides the bad acting, said that the first director (that was a woman) should be fired because she brought the show to much in the perspective of a woman (when te main character is a female), and he did fire her. just so everyone knows it's not due to graphic scenes that people are displeased - it's not a purity culture thing - it's the fact that it's blatantly showcasing the degradation/ abuse and humiliation of lily's character. instead of it being addressed in a poignant way like the original female director wanted it to, it's gratuitous and sexualised to the point where it's clearly a fetish and catered towards male viewers. its a good thing to share stories of abuse in the industry but here it's being used as a form of eroticism.

Lol this show has J3ws written all over it. Funny they banned corn in Israel as well.

What they are really looking for with this type of shows is to hypersexualize young people and legalize pedophilia
Apparently, the plot was supposed to deconstruct the idol industry. Then a new director came in and said "nah, I just want raunchy sex and hot babes!"

The female Director quit because of a debate with the weekend that she was making it “too female centered.” Well, I guess it’s definitely not that now.
It’s so sad that there’s finally a show with a female lead, and they make her this sick fantasy of a rape victim.

I know, I hate it. Kinda off topic to this but I don’t fully understand why the actors are getting hate for it, especially the girls. I understand they read the script but that’s the job of an actor, to play the role of another person. This doesn’t show either of the girl’s “true colors”, they’re representing the characters they were given

“There’s finally a show with a female lead”….. girl
Maddy Perez is a teenage girl why tf are they trying to include teenage characters in this
Because Sam Levinson likes to explore his creepy predatory sexual desires in his writing.

The original director had the depth in the plot of deconstructing and showcasing the pop culture industry but now it’s just overblown for the over-sexualisation which is apparently the only thing he knows how to do aside from good cinematography…

this show is clearly for shock value and controversy and it’s boring, you can have something with substance without trying to make a statement
Its deserves all the bad reviews it get. I do feel sorry for its actors and actresses , becuase despite all the money they get, they deserve better and serious roles of acting, if they can actually act.
That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. You don’t “forget how to sing” as a singer, just because you played a character in a show that doesn’t sing. Ur fans wanted to see u perform, but now we just see u performing this new annoying persona. He’s trying so hard to be cool and I’m just not buying it. In my opinion, Lily Rose Depp should really quit the show if she has any self respect.
why must “progress” always involve humans going into the lowest places ever. taking something that is normally pure and intimate (intimate relationships) stripping it of its most beautiful aspects (love and affection, connection) making it disgusting and putting it out for everyone to see.. this is why everyone watches foreign dramas instead. stop trying to normalize filth.

The series should be age restricted. It's literally pornographic
It’s on HBO
HBO is the platform to host rated R content. Have you not seen Girls, Sex and the city, Industry or Game of Thrones?? All HBO shows that show lots of nudity and sexual content.
Even ten years back, HBO would play soft porn late at night.

Maybe she'd be better in the adult film industry. But come on. This is obnoxiously reliant on sensuality and skin. At least Euphoria dealt with characters in a more deep way, and not every second was filled with "SFW" sex scenes.
It was originally going to have a feminist message, apparently, breaking down what goes on in the idol industry. But they fired the director who wanted thay for being too feminist apparently. So she didnt get what she signed up for and if she leaves it would be breaching contract.

The show was originally supposed to be about the over sexualizing of women in Hollywood, but it isn't doing that, quite the opposite it's over sexualizing the main character. Keep in mind the show was written by Sam Levinson and The Weeknd and Abel, besides the bad acting, said that the first director (that was a woman) should be fired because she brought the show to much in the perspective of a woman (when te main character is a female), and he did fire her.
